Hoi chummer.

I'm looking for some players for Shadowrun 5E in NYC. I've played 4E and 5E, and have Game Mastered 4E on several occasions. I'm planning on hosting from my apartment in Queens, by the 7 train. My goal is to run a homebrew adventure/mini-campaign of about 4-6 sessions. If the players like the game and my GMing style, I will continue with subsequent mini-campaigns, and players will get to keep their characters, allowing them to advance with accumulated Karma.

My current idea is to run my game once every 3 weeks, ideally on a Saturday early afternoon, starting at 1 or 2 pm. In the past my game sessions have lasted between 5 to 10 hours, but I will aim to have them run just around 5 or 6 hours. I'm hoping to start the first session late June, if not, then sometime in July.

Also, the game will be set in the meatworld with limited Matrix actions. I wish to avoid Matrix combat, as it detracts gameplay from the other player characters such as the street samurai, spellslinger, rigger, etc. Same goes for metaplanar jaunts. There will be some use of hacking, such as bypassing or disabling security, so some hacking abilities will be needed. Of course if no one wishes to play as a hacker, I can easily alter the game to fit the skill set of the group.

I do have some requirements for players.

First, and foremost, please have tabletop RPG experience. New players to Shadowrun are welcome, but I do expect you to have read the core rulebook.

Please have a Google account, since I will have discussions and post game schedule on a private Google+ community. Also checking in on the site and interacting would be very helpful as I will communicate about the game between game sessions.

I expect 100% roleplaying. For example, if a player character has the Addiction Negative Quality, I expect a player to roleplay their character's Negative Quality, rather than have it on their character sheet as just a means for bonus Karma. I actually encourage players to roleplay their character's strengths or flaws humorously, because like the players, I too want to enjoy the game and have good laughs. There will be plenty opportunities for combat and in-game social interaction.

Power-gamers need not apply. I have no problem if a player knows how to build a really good combat character, but my game is more than just rolling dice and killing things. I include investigation, intrigue, horror, and more. Sometimes a mission can be solved with good ideas, good roleplaying, or using non-combat related skills.

Rules lawyers need not apply. As is the right of a GM, some rules will be changed to promote fluid gameplay, some rules will be changed to benefit the player characters, and some will be changed to challenge the player characters. I do invite players that know the rules very well. Shadowrun is a rules-heavy game, and I will not remember everything. But I do wish to avoid heated discussions about a particular rule, especially during game play.

Finally, I do require to have a meet-and-greet with an interested player. Partially to discuss the game and character ideas, partially to weed out the anti-social and curmudgeons. I've had potential players in the past freak out or lose interest just from the mere mention of a meet-and-greet.

If you are interested, please send me an email or private message.
