While the kids obviously would not have to be rolled out of the kitchen, Lina feels like she would have to. She pushes the plate away from herself and pats her stomach thoughtfully. Definitely not in need of more filling ! "You're welcome, but don't make too much of it, those two over there did all the work, I just happened to come in near the end." She was pretty OK wth admitting why she was going to that hospital, although a few details were still nothing that Dot or Tony needed to be privvy to. "Yeap, there are some injured people that I think could use a visit. Some of my colleagues and some of Stan's." And a colleague of the armed attackers, of course... Park had helped her stay abreast of how things had been concerning Marta, but have there been any news on Greta ? Now that she tries to think of it, she can't remember and she doesn't like that feeling. She pushes the thought away for a bit, it'll get bad enough in the hospital as is. She stows her plarte and cutlery away and starts clearing off the table. "I'm ready to go."
Mercy
As you start to clear the table, Dot tells you that she and Tony will take care of things here so you can get ready. Stan nods and says, "I will get the car out and be waiting in the drive." When you get outside, you find the car ready and Stan holding the passenger door open for you. He moves to the driver's side after you get in and sets off for the city. he looks over at you and asks, "Hospital first?"
Renard
Lina doesn't really have much she still needs to fetch from her stuff upstairs. However, there is something that might come in handy... Shr sprints to her room and retrieves some Spray-Skin, just in case she might find it useful later. As she returns to the kitchen, she has a short look around and gets herself a glass of milk to calm her nerves. Or, in this case, to have a reason to wander past the knife bloc, where she slips one of the smallest knives out of the bloc and hides it in her palm as soon as she has the impression that nobody watches her. After a short visit to the toilet, said knife is safely wrapped up and hidden in one of her boots. Of course it would have been smarter to get one only when she needs it, but who can tell how available the things are in the hospital ? Best to bring one along and not need it than the other way around ! She'll see if she can get it inside. She leaves the Taser in her bag, she won't need it, she reckons. All done, she leaves the house and gets into the car.

Hospital first ? Good question... It might become inconvenient, but on the other hands, she wanted to know how people were and also wanted her answers. So the answer is easy. "Hospital first. The sooner the better, I guess."
Mercy
Stan nods and drives into the city, staying quiet most of the way but finally breaking down and asking, "Something bothering you? You seem way out there somewhere."
Renard
"I'm not quite sure yet, but something is up and I got the feeling things will get more complicated soon. Call it a sense of foreboding, if you want." Lina knows she can trust her instincts on these things, but seeing how she had an active hand in complicating things makes her prediction a lot less impressive, at least in her semi-professional opinion. "I'm still working on making sense of last week and putting the big picture together. I don't think I'll like that big picture though."
Mercy
"Big picture? What do you mean?"
Renard
"It's hard to put a finger to it, but I have the feeling things are connected by something I can't see at the moment. Take the attack on the clinic. Whoever pulled the strings on that could as well have ambushed the guys you brought to us on the way or in the hospital. But they intentionally chose a MO that included a deliberate amount of collateral damage and also meant sending their goons against a gang on their own territory in addition to the KE guards and possibly losing some in the process. That wasn't just a hit, they knew exactly what was going to happen and thought it worth the bother. That was a message. I just don't know who sent it and who was supposed to get it." There are suspects, of course. Some she likes and some she doesnt like. She thinks back to some very enlightening words Mr Kim had used during their meeting. He had known, which means he had either been made aware or was among those behind it, for whatever reason. She can think of one or two reasons, but isn't sure that the cost-benefit ratio is quite right. Difficult... "The MO fits the Russians pretty well from all that I know, they prefer the radical and heavy-handed approach." Something she has some experience with. "But I guess as I helped fuck that message up, I might get some pointers soon."

Stan nods at you as he parks the car and walks around to open your door. "I can certainly agree with much of what you said. Personally, I do not think we have seen the last of whoever attacked the clinic. That was amazingly brazen and certainly showed that they were willing to expend a lot of resources to get those three witnesses. It will be interesting to hear their story."

The hospital lobby is expansive and you walk across a tiled floor to get to the information desk. A man behind the counter smiles at you and asks how he can help.
Renard
"Amen to that. Provided you get to hear those stories. They won't dispatch a killsquad to the Mercy, but then, in that thing, a single person who knows what they're doing is enough." She purposefully avoids referring to that phypothetical person as a male. It is a possible avenue, of course, but the crime-fiction hack inside her argued that a woman would blend in better in this environment. And wouldn't have to be an ounce less deadly with modern technology and training... But then, KE isn't too lax around these guys now at the latest. Ah, shit! She remembers her little keepsake and decides that while bringing it was not too much of a bad idea, she's still better off not being caught trying to get that little gem past some guards when they expect someone to come and try to murder some witnesses. Her hearing tomorrow in mind, she sighs and quickly slips the knife under the seat while Stan walks around the car. She'll find another implenent if she needs one, she's sure of that.

She gets out of the car and enters the hospital. Tiled floor and no chemical smell, but still it feels a bit like coming home after a long day. Except for some parts of why she's here, which are a bit less happy and jubilant. "I'd like to visit two colleagues of mine who have come in on the 6th. Greta Wald, 34, torn off leg and Marta..." Fuck, she doesn't even know Marta's last name. Well, hooray for awkward... Came in with her, pretty srious abdominal and internal trauma."

(OOC: Couldn't recall / find if there had been any news on Marta's state, so including her here, feel free to point out if the post needs changes)

The young man enters the names into the terminal in front of him then looks up at you with a smile. "May I ask the nature of your inquiry Miss?"
Renard
Nature of inquiry ? Really ? She takes out her commlink and browses some information to make sure the front-desker is able to process her reply properly. "Acquiring sufficient information to estimate the feasibility of a contact visit by a friend or supportive individual during visiting hours, provided there are no barring condiotions or restrictions imposed by the hospital staff." Urgh, damn legalese. "We were almost blown up together earlier this week and I'd like to see how they are doing unless there are circumstances preventing me from doing so ?" UCAS hospital etiquette, another thing she didn't prepare for when she came here, after all, why should she plan on visiting a (proper) hospital anyway ? Explosives, that's why. "Do I need to sign any forms or go through a security check ?"
Mercy
The young man smiles and nods his head. "For these patients, yes, I am afraid so. In fact, someone will be right down to talk to you." He points to where a comfortable looking couch sits against a wall. "Please wait just over there."

Stan takes your elbow, "It is probably just a formality based on how they got here." He begins to walk over to the couch.
Renard
"Will do, thanks." She nods and turns to follow Stan to the couch and sits down on it. A short look over the room follows, just to be sure. Hurry up and wait, standard procedure... "So, how's your colleagues doing ?"
Mercy

Stan sits next to you after you take a seat on the couch. "Those that made it here will survive, although Officer Brandt might need a medical retirement unless they can replace his leg. Certainly, such things are more possible these days, but it will probably come down to insurance and cost."

Your wait is not long before you see two uniformed KE officers approach the information desk, where the man there points in your direction. Stan stands as the two approach, pulling out his ID and shows it to the men. He says a few words of introduction and explains that you are here to see your friends. One of the two officers places a call on a 'link then smiles as he nods to you. "I will take you upstairs, Miss. Follow me please."
Renard
"Doesn't it always ? Makes me wonder where all that stuff comes from, I mean, the only cop I knew who had any 'ware borrowed against his life insurance to get it in addition to a few fishy shortcuts in the paperwork. I don't guess it's a pre-planned part of the contracts, is it ?" At least in Europe it wasn't. Especially not for the average flatfoot. Not that Stan and his colleagues are of that sort, but still, Lina remembers how that one cyberleg had cut into her funds and that was not something the average cop had lying on his shelf just in case... her thoughts are interrupted by the arrival of the two K-Es. She observes them and gets up as she's adressed. "Sure thing, I'll be right behind you."

Stan touches your arm as you are going off. "I will be along shortly, after seeing how my guys are doing."

One of the officers leads you to an elevator while the other walks at your side. "So, who do you wish to see first?"
Renard
Despite the planning she has already done, the guard's question catches Lina off-guard. She has to give it a short think. "It depends who's more responsive, I guess. But generally, Marta got the uglier end of the stick, so she'd be first if she's available."
Mercy
The man nods and both join you in the elevator, staying with you as the car arrives at the sixth floor, appropriately named Intensive Care Unit. There is a heavy KE presence on the floor and several officers look at you closely as you walk by, making you feel that it would have been hard to get through the gauntlet without the escort. All of the rooms seem to be private or semi-private and you can read the patient's names inside each room on small AROs at each door. You are led to one of the rooms with a tag for Marta and you can see her through the open door. A sign on the wall indicates no more than fifteen minutes visiting at a time. She is propped up on her back and watching something on a trivid screen when you appear in the doorway and it takes a moment or two for her to recognize you. Smiling, she weakly motions for you to come in.
Renard
The elevator ride isn't too long, which helps keeping the situation deteriorating into firm awkward territory. The two K-E's aren't too talkative and Lina doesn't feel like small-talk much. A few tid-bits about the Seattle Seahawks go back and forth after she has found out the two guys aren't into Soccer and the Sounders too much, but it's not enough to get a real conversation going. Hence, the 'ping' of the opening doors is a relief at first. However, seeing the ICU staffed with a lot of K-Es calls back to how the whole mess started and spoils a lot of the mood. The scrutiny put onto her person is something she doesn't like, but the least she can do is not show it and walk like her being here is perfectly normal. So she does. having arrived at the door, she checks the sign to make sure its the right one, but that's not really necessary as she recognizes Marta through the door. mart aseems to have spotted her while she was taking a quick peek at the door sign and basically invites her in, or at least does what Lina interprets as such. So she enters the room and looks around for any signs of stuff suitable to be used as a chair without incurring too much wrath from the personnel. Finishing that, she gives Marta a short once-over "Hey, how are you doing ?"
Mercy

Marta's torso is wrapped in bandages, as is her right arm and hand. She uses her left hand to turn off the trivid and motions to the chair near the bed. Her smile is infectious as she looks at you. "Hey yourself. How have you been. The Boss has been by a couple of times to check on us and she told us about............about Hunter and Rachel. Poor sweet kid. She also said you were staying on and helping hold down the fort until we get back. I hear that the toilet has a full view of the street now."
Renard
Lina pulls the chair over, turns it and sits down on it, her arms on the back rest in front of her. She smiles back at her colleague. "Helps with ventilation and saves heating, although it also means the room temperature isn't as good as it could be and the lovely view onto the street works both ways. I was thinking about selling tickets, perhaps we could make enough money to get the wall fixed, what do you think ?" She snickers. "Yeah, what happened to rachel and Hunter is a shame, but there's little we can do now, except make do and perhaps see to that we find out who is behind the whole drek in the first place. Myself, I'm not doing too bad. The suckers were nice enough to spare my face and most of my internals, so that's good, I guess. Lily might have told you we got some help I'm currently looking after and we got the worst holes in the building patched up too. We even got a few nice extra gadgets, but I won't ruin the surprise for you just yet." She winks. "How's hospital life with all the sec's around ? Trid any good ?"
Mercy
Sunday 10 June 2075 0918 Mercy General Hospital Seattle

Marta laughs at your joke. "Tickets might sell well if we can showcase a woman of your obvious charms. Reminds me of a few years on a pole in my misspent youth. Sweet gig once I got used to men staring at all I had to offer and it paid the bills. I could have stayed there longer but medicine beckoned and I gave up the the stage for this. The current gig is easier; all I have to do is lie here and watch vids all day and try to figure out ways to jazz the KE guys up. First class accommodations, but the food is what you would expect from a hospital. And, yes, I did hear about the new girl. Dot, right? Lily said she was working out alright. But how are you holding up?"
Renard
"I don't think the people around the clinic arepicky, so that might work. Me, I'm not really a pole-worker, the only poles I have been on or up against more times than I like were goalposts and that was a lot more uncomfortable than the poles you're talking about, I guess." She recalls a few of those 'meetings' and chuckles. "I gave that up a while after I left school though. Watching vids and jazzing up the KE's doesn't mess with your health, although it also doesn't pay the bills and sounds like it's boring as drek. The food, eh, the less said the better..." She shudders. Not that she has high standards, but she has worked in hospitals long enough to know that what was edible and what merely passed for it. "Dot's doing well, I'm not sure how long we'll have her, but I'm trying to get as much into her head as I think feasible and so far, it's turns out alright. Me, well, what can I say, I have far more to worry about at work than privately, so to speak. Guess I'm still working on some sort of private life and routine. It's sort of creepy that it's not even been a week and yet it feels like months." She looks around and lowers her voice. "Also I'm trying to find out who's behind all this, so that keeps me on my feet too. You got any idea, who'd profit from what happened or would otherwise have a reason to send some people our way ?"

Marta shakes her head. "Not in the slightest, sweetie. I did hear a couple guys yammering away while I was almost unconscious from the drek they pumped into me. I was pretty out so take my words with lots of salt. The KE guys are pretty sure that the witnesses we had in the OR were the targets and we were just collateral damage. Apparently they were Yak foot soldiers that had decided to come in out of the cold and wanted a sweet deal. The guys said something about "Blue Orchid", but I have no idea what that is. Mean anything to you?"
Renard
Rats. That explains a lot. If the Vory are anything to go by, those aren't exactly popular in that sort of business, although, thinking about it, Lina fails to think of any business that at least sort of likes that sort of people. A retaliatory strike makes sense in that light. However, she still doesn't like the casual way Park alluded to the incident. She isn't willing to file that away under the 'Asians and their stuff' drawer just yet. Asked by Marta, she shrugs. "Could be a place, but sounds more like a syndicate, if you ask me." She thinks about that a bit longer and finds that line of thought appropriate. However, that whole 'colour + flower' arrangement struck her more as a Chinese thing, with the Japanese being more into animals and that sort of stuff, as far as her superficial knowledge told her. So either it was grain of salt or stuff ripped out of context... Hm. She wonders which it is, but is confident that'll unravel sooner or later. "If we're lucky, that was the last incident of that nature, hopefully. So what did the docs say ? How long are they going to keep you in here ?"
Mercy
Marta brightens considerable at your question. "I was told that I am doing well and that I might only have to be here another couple of weeks. I already told Lily that I would be coming back as soon as I could. Can't have you guys getting all the fun, right?"
Renard
"Nah, where's the fun in that, right ? I mean we could cram all the good stuff into those weeks to hoard them for ourselves, but it wouldn't be the same, would it ?" Lina winks at Marta mischievously. "Good to hear you'll be backj though, thats good news and I'm morte than happy top hear it." Especially in times like these. Although... There were still a lot of things not yet decided.

Marta almost laughs, but ends up coughing instead. She reaches over to get a glass of water and sips from it. "Hoo, that's better. Got to remember not to laugh just yet. But, yeah, I will be back as soon as I can. Say, Lily did not look too good when she came by yesterday. I think this has hit her a bit harder than she is letting on. Still, she is the toughest person I know and I am sure that she will come out of this just fine. How long can you stay?"
Renard
"Maybe. I'll keep an eye out for it, I don't really see her much, though. Mostly just on tzhe briefings and debriefings, really. Still, I don't really want to be in her position right now. I bet there are a lot of people she has to wory about." Not only her employes, also the hospital people and all that stuff from that side. Knowing some paperwork, Lina could imagine it was not really fun to deal with, and that was justz the official side of things... No, things most likely weren't easy right now. "Stay in what context ?"
Mercy

Marta tries to smile and almost makes it. "As in here in this room. It is almost time for my meds and those tend to knock me out for a bit. Have you seen Greta yet?"

A nurse comes into the room carrying a tray with a couple of syringes. She walks to the head of the bed and begins fiddling with the IV feeds. Marta watches her for a moment then turns back to you as she settles down in the bed to get comfortable. "See what I mean? I will be out for about three hours. Thank you so much for coming."
Renard
"Not yet. I thought you got roughed up harder, so I came here first. I'm pretty happy you're awake and lucid. I didn't count too much on that, really. But then, I didn't know in what condition you were in the first place." Lina holds out her hand to Marta, but then goes for a very careful hug. Considering Martas injuries, it's about as awkward as it can get, but at this moment, she isn't too much in a mood to be concerned about that. "Don't mention it. I'll see if I can drop by another time. Make sure you get better. Want me to pass anything to anyone ?"
Mercy
Sunday 10 June 2075 0924 Mercy General Hospital Seattle

Marta returns the hug as best she can. As you stand up, you can tell that the drugs the nurse has inserted into the IV are starting to take effect. "Just let Lily know I will be there STAT." The nurse watches her for a few moments and makes a final check on the monitors then turns to leave, motioning for you to follow.

Once back in the hall, she turns to you. "Will you be staying longer, Miss? I can get a nice chair moved in if you like. She will be unconscious and sleeping for about three hours, though, so you have time to get something to eat if you are coming back."
Renard
"Will do." Lina waves and puts the chair back where she has got it from and follows the nurse outside silently. "No idea, I have a few more friends on my list, but if I still got time left, I'll be back. I don't think I need an extra chair though, but I appreciate the offer, thank you." She shortly looks back into the room and closes the door. Nodding at the nurse gratefully, she turns to re-join her tour guides. They wouldn't want those to get bored, would they ? She is quite happy with how things have gone so far, to say the least.

The two KE guys look at you and the nurse as you come out of the room. One of them turns his head to watch the nurse walk away, his mouth open in a slight O while the other asks you, "Are you done or got anyone else to see?"
