Quiet, you.
Don't ask questions. Don't think.

Villiers, of course. He was trying to catch Knight napping.

Villiers talked the ECSE into openning exclusively for trading of Novatech's IPO as part of the whole promotion gimmick. The ECSE went along not only because it was getting the privilege of hosting the high-profile event - the first time one of the Big 10 is doing something of the sort - but also because given that the trading was expected to reach record traffic (exactly what Deus is after) it made sense to hold the "event" separately from normal trading - hence the Sunday date.
I believe there was something to that effect in the drafts, but it appears the explanation didn't make it into the book.
Not that the megas stop on weekends anyway.
The Nov. 2 date also proves significant for other reasons.

11/02/64
11+2+6+4= 23
Isn't 23 the number most people say is somehow connected to the Illuminates? Is this some sort of hidden nod at the fact that conspiracies of earth-shaking change all seem to come to a head on this day?

But couldn't it also be 11/02/2064? That would give you 25 instead

Yes I'm just being silly.

Without having read System Failure or SR4, does that raise anyone's suspicions as to possible collusion between the two events?

Villiers also contributed large sums of money to the technical upgrades of the East Coast Stock Exchange, necessary to host the unprecedented event. So when Villiers asks for the Exchange to open on a Sunday, they reply, "what time, sir?"
