I was just playing some Worms World Party, and thought that I'd really like to have a squad of the little fellas be an SR team. Thus:
Worm Skills:
SMGs (Uzi)
Pistols (Cruddy Revolver)
Shotguns
Heavy Weapons
Launch Weapons(Sheep)
Projectile Weapons(Longbow)
Kung-fu (maneuvers—fire punch, dragon ball, kamikaze)
Thrown Weapons(Non-Aerodynamic…. Like bananas)
Athletics(Baseball)
Athletics(Bungee-jumping)
Parachuting
VTAs (personal jet pack)
Electronics (teleporters)
Performance (victory themes)
Adept Powers:
Great leap
Improved Athletics (Geas: must be using ninja rope)
Rooting (sometimes it’s just hard to knock those wormies over…)
Pain tolerance (1 unit of life left and they’re still truckin’)
Serious Allergy (Radiation)
Languages:
As the player sees fit (although Japanese, French, and Scottish are the most amusing)

OK, well, let's just get this out of the way.
John Preston from Equilibrium.
(Gentlemen, start your twinking.)
KillaJ
Jun 24 2004, 09:42 PM
Thats exactly what I was thinking. The problem with making Preston is that:
A. You make him by the book and end up disappointed because he is just another dipshit with two pistols.
B. You give him stats that accurately reflect is "real" abilities and then you end disappointed because now he just rolls through all opposition with little to no effort.
He is definately cool in the movie but I have yet to see any SR incarnation of him that didnt leave a bad taste in my mouth. Thats not to say that I have never tried...

I did that once several years ago just to see if I can break the system.... really not that hard....
Troll phys ad with the improved projectile weapons ability... Coupled that with his high strength and that Ranger-X bow and dikoted arrowheads.... High power, lots of die rolls and silent....
It was ugly....

Though, he was made fun of, because he also ran around with a slingshot.... Yeah, troll strength slingshot is still nothing to really laugh at.... just weird and legal.

Fuck Preston, let's do the Equilibrium Cleaners.
CODE |
Attributes Strength: 3 Quickness: 4 (need to be above average to cock to weapons quick and dramatic-like) Body: 4 (need to be above average to do everything wearing a heavy trench coat and motorcycle helmet that do nothing to protect you) Intelligence: 3 (it would be lower, but you need to be smart enough to recognize those dramatic pauses) Willpower: 1 (just can't resist those dramatic pauses!) Charisma: 4 (needs to be high enough to withstand the hit to charisma from wearing a trench coat and motorcycle helmet so those weapons can be cocked dramatically)
Skills Assault Rifle(Cocking Assault Rifles): 1/6 Clubs(Having Weapon Taken by Cleric and Used to Beat Me to Death): 1/6 Heavy Weapons(Spraying Useless From the Hip):1/2 Rifles(Shooting Puppies with Sniper Rifles at 2 meters): 1/3 Shotguns(Loosely Gripped): 0/3 SMGs(Cocking SMGs): 1/6 Unarmed Combat(Standing Still and Not Putting Up a Fight): 0/3 Intimidation(Melodramatic): 1/4 Cocking Mechanisms B/R: 6 Small Unit Tactics(Ineffective Urban Swarm): 1/4 Bike(Stopping Melodramatically and Dangerously Close): 1/5 Knowledge:Edged Weapons(Taking Sword from Cleric but Not Guns): 1/6 Knowledge:Cocking Weapons Theory: 6
Edges Aptidude (cocking weapon) Aptitude (recognizing dramatic pauses in speeches) Double Jointed: Just kidding! Preston really did shatter that arm. Bravery: The strength to get up every morning and walk outside wearing a trench coat and a motorcycle helmet at all times does not come easily. Perceptive: Got to hear those dramatic pauses. Blandness: We all look alike.
Flaws Compulsion (very extreme): Must cock weapon at dramatic pauses in any speech within earshot. Compulsion (severe): Who can resist shooting puppies with a sniper rifle at close range? Compulsion (severe): A man who burns the Mona Lisa for a living is a man who loves his work. Day Job (40hrs/week): It's hard work, cocking all those weapons, but someone has to do it. Distinctive Style (trench coat and motorcycle helmet): It looks stupid, but someone's got to wear all this body armor that does nothing to protect you from hordes of untrained, horribly armed, completely incapable civilians. |

Except he didn't, in the end. At least, he tried not to.
[ Spoiler ]
If I remember the book (and I'm thinking of the right book, but I don't think I'd forget that one), in the last "simulation" he ran the weapon right into the alien homeworld, wiping out their race. He did it cause he was tired of all the war games and wanted to completely fail it so they'd let him rest. He was never told that he was controlling real ships, and had really destroyed the entire enemy race and won the war.
So in the end, he did win at any cost, but he never knew that he was.
Nikoli
Jun 25 2004, 02:37 PM
Well, just because he didn't know the actual consequences doesn't mean he did't do it. Look at the bully from school, the bully on the shuttle up and the bullies in the School. all were dealt descisive blows that should have seen him punished.

To be slightly on-topic...
Someone already said Link, and he works better in D&D anyway (Half-Elf Bard/Ranger, going by OoT - he'd just be a Fighter or something in LttP)...
Chewbacca. SURGE troll.

Better fighting game sources are probably Tekken, Ergheiz, and BioFreaks. The last was an early N64 release with freakish characters, but little else to make it worth buying, and I don't even remember any characters from it.
Tekken - Anyone as a physad, really. Yoshimitsu is cybered, though. Tetsujin would have skillwires 6+ and cluster skillsofts that let him mimic anyone's style. Unknown would have some bizarre way of mimicing that effect with magic, just cause cyber seems so out-of-character for her. Gunjack and friends could be complete-conversion borgs. Kuma... is only there cause his opponent is on too many combat drugs.
Others...
Batman is mentioned in every variant of this thread. Skipping that.
Superman - physmage, or physad with "Knack" powers. Increased Attributes on everything to some absurd level. Movement as a metamagic. Spells... Laser for his heat vision, levitate to fly... a single-target ice manip for cold breath... something to let him survive in space... an Armor variant that is always on, can't be seen, and grants hardened armor... Oh yeah, and Edge - can suddenly violate the laws of physics for no good reason by moving very fast.
Captain Picard. Skills: Being Bald (15)
Mortal Kombat - Jaxx has cyberarms. The cyborgs are probably cyberzombies. The rest I don't know enough about to say anything, nor do I really care.
SC2 - Majority belong in D&D. Sophitia is a cleric, Talim is a cleric/monk, Maxi is a monk, Taki is a rogue... And the rest can sort themselves out cause I don't feel like doing it.
There was some movie a long time ago involving giant ticks... some stupid B-movie horror thing. Those things could be stuck in SR. Oh yeah, and the one guy who got turned into a bug? Flaw: Painfully Predictable Death
Oh yeah. The Tick.
Sewer Urchin. He's a physad with below-average skills and attributes all around, but is a high-grade initiate with all of his powers geased with "Must be in the city sewer system."
