Has anyone played this? What did you think of it, are you still playing it?
Nikoli
I played, pretty much from Day 1.
Okay crafting system, but not great.
Far, far, far too much unneccesary and unfun complexity in the crafting recipes.

Combat was repetitive, find what works and spam that type ordeal
PVP, at least when I played was a touch buggy, I'm sure that has worked itself out by now.

Vehicles were cool, but they trivialized a lot of content because you could easily outpace any environmental threat and since there was no combat while on a vehicle (though you could be hit or shot at if they managed to see you in time).

Resource gathering was okay, to me it was an innovative take with the ability to harvest resources without being there. I also liked that you could become a master crafter and never kill a single enemy.

Blasters we're totally screwed up in the name of "Balance"
All weapons had the same range 64m, but had artificial penalties imposed based on type and distance to target (which typically meant you should stick to pistol and lay flat for maximum effect)

The PVE combat did sometime have an epic feel, lone hero dealing with 5 or 6 criminals and winning the day by the skin of their teeth. Other times it was a bit of lag plus a serious beatdown and a corpse run.

Travel was okay (didn't play during the space expansion era), you buy your ticket and wait for the shuttle

Entertainment was pretty cool, lots of different moves, it was fun and a nice change of pace. If your a social player, then go entertainer routes.

The story line was there, and might of been interesting if I had engaged it at all, but I didn't because the storyline missions were either delivery or hunt and kill type scenarios. I stopped missions all together once I got my energy harvesters up and running. Best money source in the game, bar none. I had the lowest prices 9 out of 10 times and still made a killing just on that.

Missions are okay xp and crap money usually, any item you get is a baseline for the type, which means the worst crafter that can make one makes a better one.

I liked the fact that player made was better, the problem comes from the fact that you can move through the weapons so fast that they rarely if ever wear out or need replacement. However the powerup market was pretty cool.

Food was a joke when I played, so I didn't try the chef line, though I as going to do the beverage line. It was okay, but incredibly static.

Engineering was probably one of the more interesting things I did (was a master Engineer and Architect), houses were okay, sorta like being in a first person SIMS environment. Not enough decorating options, you could place furniture, but you couldn't put a bowl on a table, nor could you change the color of the walls when I was playing.

If you plan on doing PVP, engineering is critical for placing faction turrets and other defensive structures.

And no, I stopped playing a while back (to make wifey happy and cause it got old)
Erebus
I pretty much agree with everything said above.

The saddest part is that the game has soooo much potential, but SOE has no idea how to prioritize issues, and tends to release games way to early. Given the state of the game now, I'd still call it a beta. More for game design issues, than technical ones, but its glaringly obvious by the time you finish your character's skill template.

Give it at least another 6 months before you try it... hopefully by then the "Combat Balance" and other Profession issues will have finally been dealt with.
