Someone messed up the database. It's set to 2009 as the current year. As much as I appreciate the effort, I don't think this will help anyone awaken quicker.

Cortana/Warthog has been especially odd today. Relevant people have been notified.

While we wait, anyone who wants to veiw a forum can simply change the FROM dropdown to the 'The Beginning...' setting and all threads will show up.

To bad it resets that setting every time I open a new thread. Is there anyway to default it to "from the beginning"?

[edit] It's so annoying not being able to post.
[edit] I'm going to see what happens at my home machine, but if that doesn't work I will likely register a new.

Bleh. Should be fixed for new messages now. Things that were posted while it was wonky will remain wonky -- sorry. Fortunately it was only hosed like that for a couple of hours or so.

It has been brought to my attention that users who logged in while the date was set to 2009 may have cookie related troubles. I recommend deleting any dumpshock.com related cookies in your browser if you have trouble posting and logging in again to see if that solves the problem.
Thanks, Kanada Ten for the heads up.

Ah, I was about to post a message about this... Except I didn't look at the years, only the times.
'Least it got mostly fixed. Can't do anything with the top three except maybe do full date edits via whatever SQL interface you prefer.

Flood control has been disabled system-wide. Hopefully this will solve the problems that people are having posting. Gratuitous abuse of the system now that it has no flood control is grounds for immediate banning. Consider this the only warning.

I am able to post?
[edit] Yes! Yes I can! Thank you!

Excellent, I had thought it was a problem with the last post being 5 years in the future, and now I can post again (almost makes me wish I had something important to say now).

Hey guys - just a quick thanks for all the quality and timely bug reports. We appreciate the help.

Out of curiosity, what's with the fear about flooding anyway? If someone were dead set on flooding the board, a puny little 30 second pause between them wouldn't really stop them from doing so.

I personally agree. Legacy concerns.
Edit: I should clarify that years ago, there was a rather sustained/annoying flooding attack, but I don't think it's likely to happen again. But there I go jinxing things.

My problem now is that my "Last Time Logged On" is still set to 2009. So now when I come on the forum I never see any new posts, cause there haven't been any new posts since 2009.

And yes, I already cleared my cookies.

Did you log off before you deleted those cookies, then log back on? Worked fine for me even yesterday when some of us couldn't post.

I clicked the Delete Cookies Set by this Board link, then logged back in.

Ok, I clicked Log Out, then Delete Cookies, and logged back in.
Works now.

Testing ... check ... check ...

Just a note ...
It seems that Flood Control is still enabled for Searching, and this is kicking in automatically and erroneously. I am not sure if this is related to my problem with new posts not displaying.

If you are having a problem with new posts not showing up, do what I did.
Click Log Out at the top of the page, then click Delete Cookies at the bottom of the page, then log back in. That should take care of it for ya.

I've done that like 15 or 20 times since the late unpleasantness, and it hasn't seemed to help. I've deleted all cookies ... emptied my temp and temp internet directories ... disc scanned ... virus scanned ... spyware scanned ... defragged ... and rebooted ad infinitum.
I will, however, give it another try.

Did you log out before clearing the cookies? I think what did it for me was clicking the log out link, cause it resets your login on the server, not just on your local machine. That is my guess anyhow, YMMV.

... and of course ...
now it f***ing works!
Oh well ... all's well that ends well.
[edit] Yeah I did. I did pretty much every different combination of things, and peppered poor Neuron Basher with IMs (because I couldn't even post for the longest time). It must have been something on my server's end. I don't know ... I'm getting too old for this sort of stuff.

Trying to get rid of another New Posts display thread. Kind of hard to tell with the thread about powering down magic as people continue posting to it. I guess it needed revived.
