That is a good question actually. Obviously the'yre not going to follow the game rules, but since everything that transpires in the novels happens in the game setting , wouldn't they be considered canon?

I don't know, would something that doesn't follow canon rules be considered canon?

Once common interpretation of the rules is that you can have an ally spirit manifest as a vehicle, take the motorbike example. It looks like a motorbike, you can ride it like a motorbike but its movement rates and carrying capacity are based on the stats you gave the spirit which is probably slower than most motorbikes and it doesn’t follow any vehicle rules.

SO what is the movement rate for a bike ally spirit with wheels?
How do you factor in wheels with a quickness rating?
Edward
Apr 30 2005, 06:08 AM
The shape is irrelevant, even if the shape has no appendages it can still move at the same speed, remember ally spirits have 3 dimensional movement as slandered. So having your bike fly is also legal.

no, I'm pretty sure that's illegal without a license.
So the speed is what, quickness x3 (same as running), or do they get to move as with the movement power? Either the fastest or slowest bike ever?

Meh. All it takes is custom cosmetic bioware/cyberware, and you can make "furries" without the SURGE rules. A specialized Orthoskin or Dermal Sheathing with enhanced hair follicles, some facial reconstruction, addition of a tail. There are people right now who get cosmetic surgery to look more animal-like. Nothing to stop someone who is crazy enough to get a full body conversion in SR's tech.

LOL I'm curious, not because I like furries (I kinda hate 'em), but why does everyone feel so against a furry?
Think about it! NO need to take "Distinctive Style" flaw, an ultra-abundance of easily detected hair fibers, and willpower tests every time you get near catnip!
What could be better? The character gets well-known in the corp world after one run, and run two gets geeked for being so damn unique!

Why not? There's absolutely nothing wrong with killing the messenger, especially when you're a messenger of lies. Otherwise it obviates the actual culpability you incur in spreading these scandalous lies and facilitating the lies to other people as if it was the truth. There are no catgirls in SR. There are no furries in SR. Anyone who says different is a damned liar and should be shot for it.

Truth is subjective. SR is pretty good at Stalinist rewrites, anyway, so don't feel too ashamed to admit you thought you read something that doesn't exist.
And this isn't book burning. Book burning will be if after purchasing SR4 I find out it sucks. I will then proceed to put out the flames with my Stream of Justice.

Cat girls may be found in SR. Certainly, some Benraku parlors cater to exotic tastes. Start with a Night One, add a bioware tail and cosmeticly altered ears. Throw in a persona fix and you begin siphoning off the excess funds of many lonely otaku.

Well, clearly I can do what I want in my games. Although I do appreciate you giving me permission to run my games as I see fit. Thank you, master. As for your perception of what I've been posting... Well, it's your perception. However, I would suggest not presuming something which I did not say. If I wanted to say my house rule supercedes canon, which I wouldn't because I am generally a canon purist, I wouldn't beat around the bush about it. I'd say that my house rule supercedes canon, and I feel so strongly about it I'd sooner set you on fire than be in your presence for even acknowledging those pages exist. But I didn't, because I don't even have to. With the people I game with, there is an agreement that certain things aren't discussed. They're canon, and they suck, but they're canon and we just don't talk about them.
I seem to have made the assumption (which is a terrible enough sin) of thinking that people can differentiate when I'm serious and not by the fact that when I am serious I am on point, use citations, and generally act directly as possible. Oops. I'm an idiot I guess. I once asked rhetorically why I seemed to have to defend myself for everything I write, and someone responded that it was because they assumed a higher standard or something from the lunatic in the corner who occassionally spouts off some nonsense like a page cite. And that I will never understand.
Like I said, I'm a purist even when I think the rules or the setting suck. I rolled for SURGE, but aside from that things like that don't come up in my games, but to be frank I can't recall seeing people ask any of these questions in my presence, or really anything like them. I'm lucky that way I guess, but it is an interesting thread insofar as it really does shock me that some people have asked such questions. I can't even appreciate what would compel anyone to ask something that would clearly contradict canon.
