ShadowDragon's post ( http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=12243 ) got me to thinking...

If you were to use the SR's D6 system to greate something similar to the D20 or GURPS or whatever...

- Would it be better to use the priority based system, point based system or both for CharGen?
- Which skills do you think would be generic enough to be cross genre. Something like Cyber Implant Weapon would not make sense in an Old West setting...

It's pretty much setup to be ready used, you already have the combat, skill, and magic rules

Anywho, any ideas?

edit - And another thing, while I never played Earth Dawn I always wondered why they just didn't use the SR rules for it?

First question: Offer all of them, let gm's and players choose the one they want.

Second Questoin: Palladium's Rifts: New West. What was that about Cyber Implant Combat making no sense? wink.gif

There are to few worthwhile character options in SR to port it to a system without magic, cyber wear, riggers and deckers.

You could loose one maybe 2 of those and still have a worth wile game. Loose more and your characters are going to look far to similar.

So it would work in rifts.

OLD west...

OLD west...

I just figured if you could get some uniformity(is that a word?) then you
could have a format for people to use when submitting a "mod" for SR.

I'd be like an unofficial "D6 system", start with priority option or point based options, or both...
I would think the attributes would stay the same, other than essence and magic, depending on the world
The skill list would change from Mod to Mod, but you would still have some base skills
(eg - Athletics, Unarmed Combat,...) But thing that are world specific don't need to be there. This way when someone post an SR Mod all they have to do is list the world specific skills

Anywho, i'm talking outa my ass... just bored at work.

You're officially a bastard. Now I want to spend a few hours making skill lists and the like for a western themed SR mod.

You can have cyberware in a western. So says Will Smith.

That's not cyberware, that's steamware. smile.gif

And, hmmmmm. The SRd6 system is fairly generic - with a little ingenuity and a flexible DM, you can make it work for damn-near anything. I got a fair ways into the creation of a space-based space/opera slash Zone of the Enders mod.
