I have an idea for a random NPC generator that I was wanting to throw in the air and let other more technical savvy people shoot holes in it.
My idea is to start the process with a choice of PC levels. (high.mid,low...)
and the number of NPC's wanted.
From there the program would assign a number of points (lower than required for PC char in a point-based chargen) within defined parameters relative to difficulty, and then randomly assign them to atts and skills.
Any additional misc building would be done by GM.
Thats my idea in a rather quick nutshell. I want to know how difficult the random number assignment code would be to create, or could it rather easily be done with existing code?

What do you mean by PC levels?
I have actually worked on an npc generator. It does a pretty good job, you could essentially add/change and remove pieces as you wish, works with the omnihedron.
I am in the process of making a sr3 character generator repository where you can upload the sr3 file to the site for others to download. (but that is in the works.)
Then you could customize the character as you wish.
I am not trying to shoot your idea down, (I know what it feels like) but I am not sure what you are looking to do here, and if you are able to channel your efforts into an existing project that would be cool. THe NPC wiki can use some enthusiastic help.

First off thanks for your input.
By PC levels I mean the Karma pool numbers. ( karma pool of five being lower, 50 being high)
I guess what I want is a no-frills program i can sit down at, tell it I have a high level group ( 45 karma), I need twenty mid level gangers, wait thirty seconds and it prints out multiple sheets with ganger 1-20.
The program would have assigned all my atts and skills. and keep them at reasonable levels.
I mean they are going to be cannon fodder. I really dont want to spend hours generating twenty goons only to have them blown up in one grand mushroom cloud.

If you have acces to the code I could probably input parameters and the like to help it out but I am no programmer.
