Movement works. Don't ask how. That way this is Madness! Seriously, though. Let's say someone gets his cyber-centaur up to 3400 mph, by having someone summon a force 10 spirit and having it use Movement on it. That's Mach 4.4! Do we assume that the spirit allows him to control that speed, or does he now have to make handling tests? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/question.gif) |

I remember reading in some book (but I can't remember if it was 3rd or 4th ed) that movement doesn't change the handling of a vehicle or the ramming damage.
According to that my take is that Movement doesn't make you go faster, it makes you get there earlier. It fits with the fact that Movement is a spirit power and that most spirit powers don't affect the target directly but affect the environment so that it affects the target (for example concealment doesn't turn you invisible, it helps you hide yourself by affecting the environment so that it hides you better). |

Basically, Movement takes Distance/Obstacles a bit out of your way so you get there sooner with your own speed. Theoretically. Of course, this does not work in any kind or way within the rules context of the shadowrun universe.

But it could go either way, as it does not really indicate. Beauty of it is that your handling tests do not really change that much, but your Crash tests become instantly fatal if you fail (even if you ARE using the vehicle's protective systems). |

Last point, I agree with, although I'd certainly give the PC one last roll and see if he could make it. Or, he could burn a point of Edge to hit a small pillow, etc, etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But what's your logic for making him make a Handling test for running? Isn't it enough that he has to make regular athletics rolls? Wouldn't that simulate control at a high running speed, as well as maintaining that speed? |

Indeed, I was more commenting on Vehicle interactions, rather than running (Some how I missed that part). Apparently, I believe that "Binky" is a vehicle now, more than a "person". Not sure how that happened, other than apparently not paying complete attention to the text. My bad... |

Technically, Binky is still a living being.
Technocally, Binky is an equine hovertank. That's the whole beauty of it really ^^ |

Notably, Disc-light is slower and thicker than normal light.

Yeah, it's been scienmagically confirmed to only move at the speed of sound. And the only known thing to travel faster than normal light is succession. The kingons or possibly queenons that make up the transfer of power travel from one ruler to the next instantly (unless, of course, they're interrupted enroute by a republicon). |

I see how having raptor legs makes you run faster and I see how having roller skates makes you go faster, but I don't think you would go any faster on roller skates if you had raptor legs. The way I understand inline skating, I don't even know if you could skate properly with raptor legs. We could always glue some Roller Blades to an ostrich and find out. I'm pretty good with rollerblades, and can do a few miles at a stretch- not quite as fast as a bike, but faster than running. I'd say without a dobt having "raptor" legs could help, because they increase leg extension. That would both let you take a longer "power stroke" when you push off with the skate, giving you more power per stroke and requiring fewer power strokes for a given distance traveled. That last part is really what caps your speed (and tires you out). As to whether the legs bend that way, or you could find skates that fit... well, people are adaptable in how they move, and I'm a big proponent of most wearable items in Shadowrun being produced with what would today be considered "rapid prototyping" methods. You might have to pay a bit extra for some custom design work, but that's no big deal (there's examples of much more complex software tasks as trivial jobs in the book) and manufacture should be no problem. |
