I have to say I enjoyed Alpha Protocol. I loved Alpha Protocol as well. I thought it was criminally underrated by reviewers, all because Mass Effect 2 had thrown out skill-influenced aiming in RPG's for just straight FPS shooting. It was great example of what an RPG should be, both story- and action-wise. I was really sad when they announced there'd never be a sequel. I've always wanted a modern spy RPG and Alpha Protocol really delivered. I'm sad to think there may never be another game like it. Here's hoping Cyberpunk can sate that thirst. (I hope it's third-person too, cuz I hate playing from the first-person perspective.) |

I completely agree. It's a game that really got dumped on for no good reason, and a sequel -- had it addressed some of the legit concerns raised about the original -- really could have been something really special.
On the bright side, Alpha Protocol got panned by the critics so badly that it's, at least, generally pretty cheap to find/buy, so it's easy to recommend to friends. |

huh? it's a youtube clip o.O it only asks me to log into my youtube account to verify my age . . try here then: http://www.cyberpunk.net/ Yes, and it won't let me log in to my youtube account anymore without creating a google account, and to verify the google account it wants a mobile phone number. I hate google. Not even their search engine works properly anymore. Thanks for the link, that was pretty freaking cool and if it's any indication of the game, it'll be one to look forward to. |

Yes, and it won't let me log in to my youtube account anymore without creating a google account, and to verify the google account it wants a mobile phone number. .... and you can skip that step. I've been doing it for my G+ account for months, now. Every few weeks they'll throw that at me during login, again. And I click the handy little "skip this for now" button at the bottom. So it's the Cyberpunk 2020 computer RPG, brushed off and refit for the year 2077. New company, cool concept art, seem to be familiar with the core material.
Color me intrigued. Good find. |

The bit of reading I did over at IGN on this during my morning getting ready for work routine shed some good light on the dev process I think. Direct quote from the managing director ripped off the website.
QUOTE ("Adam Badowski") “In 2077 as we imagine it, technology will be so advanced that implants will fit in the tip of a needle, making modification easy. The decision to change will therefore be largely aesthetic and ostensibly harmless. Realskin synthetic skin looks real but is better than real. It’s soft, it has pores that subtly release sweat, but it is so much more. It’s amazing, those who adopt it look like pumped, modified dolls, because they are perfect, or some version of it. When people choose modification, they’re making a statement, they’re expressing a preference.” “When somebody walks around with a chrome hand, it’s not because there’s some underlying technology that makes their hand look like that. It’s because they think chrome hands look cool. When somebody has a leg with servomotors, it’s because they choose to look extreme (like the best new carbon fiber bike). And their choice is completely based on style, it extends and enriches their style. You’ll get access to a rich arsenal of firearms, but if you want to have blades because they look cool, go for it. All these elements will make it into Cyberpunk 2077. 'Style Over Substance' is our core theme, after all.” The whole statement, especially the bolded bit, made me smile. Edit: Full story here |

I do not expect that to be even vaguely indicative of in-game graphics.

You've got to be kidding me. The Witcher is about as RPG as it gets nowadays. What contemporary popular franchise is more RPG-like? Maybe Final Fantasy, in the sense that everyone is to some extent still taking turns in combat? The majority of lead Final Fantasy titles have not been turn-based. At least not by default. ATB is not turn based since the player's and enemy's attacks are all happening at the same time without time for independent thought. Final Fantasy X is the notable recent exception to it and used a turn-based combat method. |

yay or nay? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P99qJGrPNLs I... I think I'm in love. [ Spoiler ] With this being CD projekt, it's a sure buy. They're basically the bastion of awesome that defies all shitty business practices that the big corps are trying to shove down our throat and give us more then we deserve. Helps that they make good games to. Edit: Also I think Patrick was refering to the fact that the Witcher got pirated like a gazillion times on PC because they didn't have any DRM, fortunately it also won like every award ever and sold a bazillion copies. Same with GoG, absolutely no DRM, they even allow you to make personal copies in the terms of service and politely asks you to not be a twat sbout it. |

The trailer looks gorgeous and it's a catchy tune, but I wish we could see something (anything) of what sort of gameplay to expect.

Early days for that, Critias.
At least we can see a slice of the aesthetic "vision" the devs have in their minds while working on the gameplay stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Early days for that, Critias. Oh, yeah. I'm not expecting a gameplay video or anything -- I just mean any hint at all. If we've heard at all what to expect, I've missed it; I don't know if it's a FPS, some sort of RPG, a single player, a multi-player, or what. Y'know? Even just some sort of developer interview or sales pitch would be cool, to whet appetites. QUOTE At least we can see a slice of the aesthetic "vision" the devs have in their minds while working on the gameplay stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Yeah, it's a cool lookin' trailer, that's for sure. |
