@ fueldrop: wow, you really *are* the king of double posts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

@ spellbinder: full auto APDS shotgun slugs sounds like a perfectly valid response to combat from my perspective. am i missing something? (or did the individual in question not comprehend the concept of recoil compensation, and therefore he was missing something? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )
The game was SR5, where deckers are [apparently] expected to be MARKing, hacking, and bricking wireless devices in combat, as opposed to more reasonable things like just shooting those trying to kill you and your friends.

And I wonder if FuelDrop is using the same kind of cordless mouse I have, a Logitech M570 (a mouse who's primary click is notorious for registering 0-5 clicks for a single click).

Added: 21. The slip of an elfin girl decker carries a bigger gun than the street sam or any combat drone the rigger has.

Never saw that, but I did see a slip of a human girl mage carrying a Panther assault cannon. She used a variant of Physical Mask so it looked like another gun: usually a Tiffani Needler, but it changed often. She considered it an accessory.

Submitted for SR5, but didn't make the final cut prior to the book going to print.
May show up in future splat books.
You have been warned.

You are the ultimate FD fan.

You have simmed the entire trilogy to date ('I Know What You Did Last Shadowrun', 'I Still Know What You Did Last Shadowrun', 'I'll Always Know What You Did Last Shadowrun') and may have a mild Sim addiction from replaying these so much.

You have all the fan memorabilia and cosplay as FD at your weekly gaming sessions with your group, even though the rest don't dress up for it and they repeatedly beg you not to.

Thanks to lifting a couple of mummy and daddy's credsticks, you have altered your appearance to more closely resemble your idol.

Now you are ready to take a walk on the wildside and dive into to the shadow for acts of daring and danger.

While it can open some doors into the shadows by faking that you are THE FD, if they find out you are a poser you can find yourself in hot water fast.

Especially if you just scored with FD's girlfriend. (Bless her soul she is a sweetie, but not too bright and farsighted as hell.)

Likewise, enemies of FD may mistake you for the real deal and will try to off you to boost their own reputations.

Due to FD's reputation, many runners will not work with you(thinking you are FD).

As such you are often teamed up with some very questionable characters who may or may not have adequate skills or are otherwise mentally unstable and possibly both.

Two FD posers may not be in the same team as this will confuse the GF, who still doesn't get it.

The two (or more) FD posers will settle the manner Highlander style. There can be only ONE(FD)!

Only Humans may take the FD Poser Quality

Interesting Story - When I moved my Ninja along, I created a Teenage Fanboy for the Adrenalin Junkie P2O character. Knew everything about him, and even had various Knowledge Skills pertaining to him from his research. Showed up and I have never seen any one so creeped out as the player/character was. Eventually, he plotted to waste the Fanboy. It was sad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)

Willing to bet the GM forgot that her "needler" was actually a 1.5m+ long, 15kg+ cannon instead of what it looked like on a regular basis. Makes entering doorways, using bathroom stalls, climbing, using any sort of automobile, walking through a crowd, etc a real bitch.

Your Corporate Spec Ops squadmates consist of the squad leader (a generalist combatant with multiple supporting skills), a cyber'ed sniper, a combat mage, and an ex-SWAT weapons specialist. Your character is a knife fighter. (The knife fighter wasn't particularly good at reading signs, either....)

I fail to see the issue with a knife fighter as long as (speaking in SR4A terms): 1) they have at least decent skill with their preferred firearm (4 or so with specialization), 2) they have a decent thrown weapons skill (4 or so with grenades), 3) they play their character smart (ie they don't go into rooms of gunmen with nothing but knives and a complete lack of tactical accumen).

X. No one else invested in 100 kg of explosives.
X+1. I'm not sure what the signs are . . . but I'll find them. If they don't have anything to hide, why would they object to having my surveillance drones follow them everywhere? I'm just protecting my interests.
X+2. You met them all on a flight after you fell asleep and people keep calling you by their names.
X+3. Your face keeps committing the to team to steal things from the high security facilities of the most powerful organizations in the world for less than the equivalent of minimum wage.

28. You're a pacifist and the team just dumped the tortured corpse of a POW on someone else's balcony. And that's after surviving Chicago with a different group.
29. When the scariest mofo in your group is a bear capable of one-shotting a truck. As long as no one's in it, because he doesn't want to hurt people, honest.
30. When the hacker is probably a sentient AI. Or a 12 year old girl. You're not sure which.

(28 and 29 happened in two unrelated games.)

Actually, I think the GM was amused by it, and considered it a type of "hammer space" trick. You know, where anime girls pull gigantic hammers out of nowhere. That game kinda had an anime feel to it anyway.

This is not how Physical Mask works. You cannot make a Troll look like a Dwarf, and you cannot make an Assault Cannon look like a Holdout Pistol.

QUOTE (SR4A @ p. 209)
The Mask spell requires the caster to touch the subject. The subject assumes a different physical appearance (of the same basic size and shape) chosen by the caster.

Emphasis mine. Your GM needs to invest in their Perception skill, and boost their Memory Test dice pool. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

See, this combined with Sternenwind's number 19 - "The burglar and infiltrator are borrowing tools of their profession from the mage" - makes me realize something.

Hackers are essentially B&E specialists for the digital world. Their primary purpose is to gain access to digitial places and objects undetected. A normal thief who ends up in combat doesn't lockpick the enemy to death, they damn well shoot the fragger or run away. Why then should Hackers be different?
