http://cgi.ebay.com/68-Shadowrun-RPG-Books...p3286.m63.l1177

Down at the bottom of the listing is e-bays thing to report the item. I'd suggest people do so.

I'm going with the photocopies of printed material category for the report, I'd recommend others do the same.

Thats my good deed for the day.

I know that somepeople feel that having scanned PDFs of old and out of print games is acceptable however its things like this that will stop smaller companys republishing there books. Well that what i think at least.

I thought the "media on recordable format" fit better considering he said it was a DVD and he has more than one copy of each.

As I understand copyright law, it is okay to create a digital copy of a book you own for personal use, but that only the copyright holder may distribute such files in any way.

Some argue from this that it is okay to download digital copies of books you already own, but that is sketchy on the downloader's end (and still illegal on the providers end).

I would love PDF's of all my old Shadowrun sourcebooks (for searching purposes, I own every book published to date), and would even pay a few dollars for said PDFs. While I cannot bring myself to pay the 10+ dollars currently being charged, I also do not begrudge WizKids/Catalyst from charging what the market will bear (the more they make the better for new product development).

Regardless anyone selling illegal copies is vile.

From what I've seen of PDF scans of old books, they usually aren't even searchable, but are merely a PDF of the images scanned in.

How did this Ebay seller get so good a rating when he sells crap like Torrents of documents? That's just plain funny.

And thus the problem with censorship. If you can't discuss illegal acts, you can't tell the cops why you're calling them.

For the record: Only the post that actually contains the link could even vaugely be considered to violate the TOS, on account of (almost) containing pirated materials--and maybe the post that asked for the link, for (almost) requesting them. No one here is advocating piracy, and discussion is not banned in the TOS--possibly because it would make discussion of certain in-game hacker/technomancer actions impossible.

Nothing wrong with a reminder though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I hate these kind of sellers on e-bay. I used to make freeware adventure games and had a dude put them and some other authors free stuff on a cd and sell it. It was pretty lame.

I'll go report this dude too, if I still can.

I think it was really more of a blanket caution than anyone else. No Adminitrative Warnings went out to any individuals, as no one really broke any major rules, but... We're touchy about any links to a source of illegal PDFs. We maintain a really good relationship with CGL, so we try to support them as much as possible. One way is to do our best to discourage things like this that could hurt the company.

We do appreciate the heads up. In the future though, it may be better to simply contact the admin here, or send a message or two to the CGL folks (THere's several addresses on shadowrun4.com).

Though hypothetically this might actually have made a difference.

COnsidering a number of us reported them I'm suprised the listing is still up. Not impressive e-bay.

Hey stop talking about piracy! If you talk about piracy the terrorists win!

Sillyness aside if we are all reporting it wouldn't we not be supporting it? Also wouldn't it be best to give CGL a heads up so they can talk to ebay and have it removed? I don't think anyone has yet to have #5 broken, but I can see the hesitation and warning of the post created.

It appears to have been removed. if you click on the seller's name to look for other items he has for sale, it lists that he has zero items for sale.
