the stats for it are on page 220 of CWCG, and i assume that he will be filling it whilst i use several OOM-series droids to pilot it.

Yup, though how much depends on the price Tom gives me per units.

Also; No, Reiko, you can't have a tie defender. It was SOTA at the time of the Battle of Endor.

Hah, didn't think I was going to get away with that.

Also, it's Reiku. u, not o. Get it right. I am tired, cranky, and just spent 12hrs on a train after having two teeth pulled--I will slay you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey, mines easy, just type Jer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

And can we buy crystals for lightsabers, or not? I read that the Jedi did have repositories, and I'm going to have to go back to either Dantooine (Where I was trained) or to Corescant for my Trails (I'm becoming a knight after next level, and at 7 I'm building my own lighters (plural)). Probably going to go dual wield, not sure yet, I need to plan my levels out a bit farther and see what I can fit in within a reasonable time frame.

Also, I'm only here in SLO until the end of the month, then I shall be moving.

So, I just looked at the books and the errata, and it seems a starship's size modifier only applies to it's Reflex Defense, Initiative checks, and Pilot checks--not to attack bonuses or anything like that. So unless you can point me to something that says otherwise...

...also, how teh fuck do you determine the "Grp" bonus of a starship? Can't find rules on it anywhere & can't remember what Tom told me. Can't manage to reverse engineer it from the listed stats either. Also, the skill bonuses in the stat blocks don't seem to add up right. (Specifically Pilot) The only things affecting them should be the ship's size modifier and the crew modifiers, right? But it doesn't add up that way...

So info and/or page numbers on how to calculate starship stats would be helpful...

I would be wrong there.

Grapple boni? Page 153 BAB+STR or DEX+SIZE.

Ships DEX also adds to Pilot.

Ah, very helpful. Looked at the grappling section of the combat rules but didn't see any bonus formula listed. Of course, I was very tired at the time.

So, I've got two ship designs almost statted out, and it occurs to me I have the money to buy both of them. I might do that, but first, I wanted opinions about what's more useful for starships in this system.

My first model is a custom interceptor, it's smaller (Huge), faster (better speed, initiative & Dex/Reflex Save), and has 1 more emplacement point, but it's shields, HP, and Str/Fort Defense/Threshold are lower. The other is a custom superiority fighter, with much better shields and improved HP, Str, ect, but it's larger (Gargantuan), significantly slower (4 less initiative and ref defense, -2 squares speed), and has 1 less emplacement point. Other stats are more or less identical between the two, I'll post the blocks in a minute for comparison.

Both ships are probably going to have Sensor Baffling and Sensor Mask, allowing them to make stealth checks with a +10 bonus without requiring any kind of cover, and are generally designed for a "disable the enemy from hiding" approach. So would it be better to be fast and agile, or slow and durable?

Two more questions:

1) Can I select the "double weapon" option for the prototype benefit, and then swap the second weapon system with a different one that uses the same number of emplacement points, paying the difference in cost? Or would I have to pull it out afterwards and replace it?

It's basically the difference between getting full value for the cloned weapon, and having to sell it at 1/4 cost instead, which doesn't mean much when you're walking around with 1.2 mil in your pocket.

2) I take it space mines just use their own attack bonus, and are unaffected by the ship or pilot's attack boni?

[edit] Stats for the two ship designs:

These aren't the full stats, mind you--just the things that directly affect which ship is better. I might throw in customized controls on both of them just to get that extra +1 to piloting. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

[edit2] OOH! Shiney!

I just checked the rules for hardpoint modifications. It says one hardpoint mod gives you 4 hardpoints, which can each hold one missile, mine, or torpedo...

...unless it's a weapon restricted to ships of Colossal size or greater, in which case it uses two of the 4 hardpoints instead of just one.

Soooo, does this mean I can use hardpoints to strap a pair of heavy concussion missiles to my starfighter? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Rad, your grapple is off. It's BAB + (STR or DEX) + Size, not BAB + STR or Dex + Size. The only or in there is for str or dex, not bab and strength or dex and size.

1. Yeah, you have to strip and replace.
2. Yeah Space mines just have a set attack

i was working on a backup character and was wondering if droids become bat-sith crazy. According to the rules they still do, but i was wondering if it would still be playable being as well it is a droid and is less likely to go crazy like a meatbag.

Motherfucking WOOT!

I am definitely going with the interceptor then, since I'm using the extra emplacement point for a hardpoint array. Gives lotsa' versatility, but there's something to be said for coming out loaded for bear with 9d10x5 missiles on a stealthed fighter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

There is one drawback for hardpoints. They are both outside of your ship, and therefore outside of your shield generator.

Called shot to missiles, anyone? *Boom*

This isn't Shadowrun, where detonating explosives is impossible, outside of a detonator. Star Wars missles explode when shot. Esp when they are hit with autofire.

it seems as though they would use electronically triggered explosives that would only explode from a spark and not from the burning of the lazor.

With a missile. The missile didn't kill him, the explosives did.
