In your augmented attributes, it's less augmented attributes nad more a flaw of the movement system. I don't know about you, but I can hold a 15km/h pace for ten-fifteen minutes in full kit, while your average human Shadowrunner is capable of holding a 30km pace for a few minutes.

OpenRpg does have SR4 dieroller. I played 5 or 6 sessions on there. Not to bad. Maps work great if you have them prepared

I'd think about it. I don't have any experience of online GM'ing. Everyone skypes away, yes? Yahoo chat or what? Also, what do I use for sketching out my "no, no, no - you're behind this door, the monster is over there!" diagrams? I downloaded iTabletop but haven't tried it out yet. |

i liked "What Would Samurai Do?" information. I think that there should be that kind info page in books too.
Page that has few basic stats about how attributes work and what you can expect like minimun success and maximum, so that when you make char and play you dont make stypid mistakes assuming that char is better than he is. |

I have a collection of your files on my computer already, but I'll be sure to check out the site soon, to have a look at the maps. I also quite enjoyed Dark King, so I'll hang out for that, too.
However, the proof is in the pudding, so here's some extracts from my own PBP game I run on a different forum, where I decided to use one of your NPC's, and had a pretty fun time doing so. To contextualize, Orange is an Ork Infiltration Specialist from Redmond, who's decided to bring two of his ganger family members along as muscle. Keep in mind this is this guy's first ever Shadowrun game, so I may seem like I'm stating the obvious at times, but bear with me. QUOTE (Almighty Beanchild (Playing Orange)) Orange trudged down the street through the slums flanked on one side by the young ork and on the other by the towering figure of the troll. The ramshackle buildings on either side housed lots of orks and other metatypes down on their luck. And any group of them could turn on the trio at any time. Orange kept his eyes moving and his hands near his knives. Gradually, the buildings around change to something that looks like its seen repairs in the last half a decade. Orange spots a taxi, obviously desperate for fares to be even in this neighbourhood. Dat's da only way we're going to get dere. Turning to the others Orange grins. "Stay quiet boys and let me do da talkin'. When we get dere, hit da alley and stay outta sight." Orange saunter's forwards and leans down to the taxi driver. "Hoi. Gotta get over ta Club Penumbra. Me friends are so forgetful and forgot 'dere SINs though. How much for da three of us? I guess I am payin' again." Orange lets his eye drop in a wink and a grin touches his lips. QUOTE (Sir_Psycho (GM)) The cab driver, a chinese dwarf in cheap, gaudy sunglasses doesn't roll down the window for you. "30 to Club. No SINs? Make that one hun'ed. Getting in?" QUOTE (Almighty_Beanchild) "One hun'ed it is my friend. Drop us in the alley behind da club, chummer." Waving his arm, Orange beckoned the others. "Jump in." QUOTE (Sir_Psycho) You hop into the torn plastic passenger seat, next to the several inch thick bulletproof plexiglass compartment where your driver sits with his short legs crossed on the fluffy seat, the fiberoptic line plugged into the back of his skull allowing him to control the vehicle via a direct neural interface. After the few laborious moments it takes your huge troglodyte cousin, Grinder to squeeze into the back with Digger, "Hurtle Harry", as his AR nametag screams cranks the Cantonese Synth Punk and burns rubber, swinging wildly around the debris of the Redmond street before hurtling off down the cracked road at break-neck speed.
Looking back, you can see that Grinder looks a little uncomfortable at the speed as Harry switches to the wrong side of the road and slides through an intersection, narrowly missing a decrepid old traffic drone. "'If you go fast enough, nothing else will hit you... see – totally missed that drone – it's just common sense." He shouts back at the uncomfortable young orks, "What's easier to catch? A ball or a bullet? The faster you go, the safe you are!" Grinder mutters something darkly about "Chunky salsa", but Harry retorts quickly, "What if I hit something? No sir, if you go fast enough, everyone will get out of your way. Take my advice and never drop below 100kph. It's the magic number." Grinder doesn't look comforted. "Relax boys. We'll take the Evergreen Floater bridge over the big Wash and we'll be there in no time." Sure enough, only a few seconds later Harry swings around a GMC Bulldog trundling up an on ramp and you swear the dented old cab leaves the ground for a moment as you fly onto the bridge. "No problems with the law either. A few tickets, here and there," confirmed by a quick look at Harry's SIN and it's reams of speeding tickets, "But the faster I go, the more fares I score, right? Gotta pay the bills. Got a nasty dental bill for little Chun-Li the other day, poor thing is teething, but I picked up her favourite Neil the Ork Barbarian sim to distract her. Sweet little thing" As he says it, your AR display lights up with baby photos of a chubby faced chinese toddler. "You guys like Neil the Ork Barbarian? Great show. He punched a camel right in the face the other night! Looked pretty real though! They've got wiz fx mages working that show. He's all like "Raaargh!" and just punched it right in the face! Brirriant!" All of a sudden Harry swings into an alley, and you look out the window to see a standing procession of various chromed and modified bikes. A plethora of japanese racing bikes, but a few big choppers too that put your own to shame with their custom jobs and expensive nano-paint. The trendy vehicles of the showy shadowrunner set and the pretenders that hang on at Club Penumbra. You hop out of the vehicle as Harry shouts a final goodbye. "Got my comm, kid? If you the real deal, I can get you where you want or away from anyone who wanna slow you down, huh? Buzz for Hurtle Harry!" Grinder and Digger hop out to stares by the club patrons hanging outside leaning on their bikes and smoking nico-sticks. At any other club, some-one might say something about the ragged Orks at your sides, pallid in the neon light, but this is Club Penumbra, and Shadowrunners and criminals are an accepted sight on these streets. Grinder looks down to you, his thick chain stuffed clumsily inside his synth-leather jacket while Digger glares at a few waify elf-boys smoking and smirking at his hand-me-down threads, but he manages to let the sawn off shotgun down his trouser lie. It's business time. |

I received an email the other day telling me that my site had "excellent business potential" but was suffering through not being well-marketed enough. Rather than send these helpful people my details however, I thought I'd give it a little bump here. I've not added much lately, just some icons from an upcoming location write up. I like that in SR2070 written language has often been replaced in day to day life with simple icons. So I'm now liberally decorating my settings with whatever I can think up, hovering in AR wherever you look. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) After the next location (a full Lone Star police station), I'm going to either work on a new module, some revised Matrix Examples or a new NPC Roster. Any preferences from people as to what they'd like to see? Peace, Khadim. |

Glad to see your site is back, Khadim. I've always enjoyed your stuff.
Also I really like the yakuza house map, and not so much for the map even. What I really like is how entirely fleshed out the location is, including matrix and npcs. Its the perfect plug and play gaming aid!! We should collaborate on some maps... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) QUOTE (knasser) After the next location (a full Lone Star police station... UPDATE!
I can't believe that I've had this on my drawing board for three months, but I've finally finished my Lone Star police station. Note that the maps for both the interior of the station and the Matrix site for it are big. They were originally done on A3 (I'm not sure if this term is used Internationally or not - 297x420mm, anyway). For this document I've done two things. I've split them both down the middle and put them onto two pages of A4 apiece. And I've added a couple of A3 size pages to the end of the document for anyone that has access to larger printing facilities. I really recommend printing at the larger size if you want to use these and if you can. If people could please let me know how well this works for them, it would be appreciated. You see I can print off A3 documents quite easily and in any orientation. So if there's someone out there cursing and saying ""it would have still been scaled down to A4, the idiot", "if he'd printed it in Landscape it would fit on my monitor better" or whatever - then LET ME KNOW! Other than that, I crave feedback so if you download this or even better, use it in a game, please let me know. It's my only payment for my time and effort in doing these things. Method: You and I have completely different approaches to doing maps, but both good. We probably should collaborate on something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I've had a bottleneck of things to do and I can only allocate a little of my time to hobbies like Shadowrun. This map was one of the bottlenecks. One of the others is Dark King II, which is in progress. And then I need to update my Matrix Examples document for post-Unwired. I'd also like to get another Halloween adventure done to provide a sequel (in a completely non-connected, non-overlaping and non-following on from way) to Carnival. So anyway - I give you my Lone Star Police Station Peace (and be cool) Khadim. |

I have a few layout suggestions, if you want them. Comments on the rest would take too much time right now, maybe later. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Placement of Buildings:
Interior Layout: (based on pg. 15, oriented so that the main entrance faces downwards (="south")

If you need turrets (I´m a bit fuzzy what for, as you have drones), you can place them on the corners of the single building. The ideal shape of the garage is as wide as the main building, as corners provide cover. Bigger ammo bins, marginally harder to hack, possibly better armoured I guess? One thing that I might expect is a room with rigger cocoons or similar. Lonestar makes heavy use of drones and you have onsite security riggers, so I'd given them somewhere secure to operate (and ride out dumpshock from) without cluttering up the hospital beds. More cells, and one of those big ol' drunk tank type cells that you just throw everyone into when you want them off the streets for the night. I'm curious as to why you've gone for a single floor affair? All the police stations I've seen tend to have a couple of floors rather than one honkin' big one. If it's in a large urban area, land is going to be expensive. I also agree with Ryu's points. Except that I like the turrets. [ Spoiler ] Other than that, it's a fantastic resource, and one I shall hopefully be using (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Other than that, it's a fantastic resource, and one I shall hopefully be using (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks. It took a long time to draw that main map out (and the Matrix one took a little while as well). I do it for the comments and feedback. As regards the suggestions, then in no particular order: The gun turrents: The drones in the garage are not security for the station - maybe I didn't make that clear. The garage is just storage and maintenance facilities for the patrol drones or reinforcements to be sent out. They aren't kept fired up and waiting for people to attack the station - budgets are tight and what drones are available are usaully out Serving and Protecting... usually from the PCs, as it happens (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) So the gun turrets provide some defensive ability. For a start, they're unhackable unless someone has broken the station's security systems or if someone is mad enough to climb the tower. As tarbrush says, they also have some big ammo bins and excellent defensive qualities. They have LOS over the compound wall due to their height. And something no-one has picked up on - they are a visible deterrent. It's all very well being able to roll out a couple of Steel Lynx's if there's trouble, but its no substitute for people approaching your facility and seeing 20' (6m) concrete pylons with machine guns pointing down at you. The reason for the separate garage facility is two-fold. Firstly I didn't think of it until after I'd started mapping out the main station. Secondly, it really is meant to be a separate facility where all the patrol cars go, drones are stored, etc. I can see the merit in having them adjoining but I spent a very long time doing this and I don't have the energy to start making changes again. Probably an underground carpark would have made sense for the staff and patrol cars. The design was originally also going to be two story plus basement, but I found I had trouble filling it once I got started so I converted it to one story. Ryu - I'm not sure which trideo room you mean. If you mean some of the smaller rec rooms with trideo in them, then these are just rec rooms where people can drag the chairs around a trideo game or chat or whatever. They're not meant as cinemas or lecture rooms. If you mean the large room with no furniture, this is a tactical display where officers can stand around pointing at panning cityscapes, zooming in no riots, etc. They're police officers - I figure they can manage to walk around. People just come in here for dynamic operations control. I much prefer the visual of them walking through projected streets, kneeling down and zooming in on doorways vulnerable to SWAT teams, etc. Yes - both toilets and showers are unisex. I figure Lone Star would be more like the Starship Troopers film than modern day United States. Anyway, this was a big project. These are some valid criticisms but I just don't have the energy to start overhauling it all. I hope some people get some use out of it. K. EDIT: Tarbrush - I'll correct the spelling mistake. The passage originally read "a hardware test" and then I decided in editing to change it to "armoury". |

Unfortunately if I were to stick to doing locations that I had experience of, you'd get a succession of offices and hotel rooms. : ( I suppose I could get arrested more often. To get a halfway decent and logical node layout takes quite a bit of work. Our current campaign is drawing to a close. When it's done I'll try to compile my notes/drawings and also make them available. |

Money being a limiting factor, not all police stations are designed from the ground up as bunkers. Sometimes budgets require you convert an old S-Mart into the new Police Station!
I lived in a little town in Tennessee that had the jail with the worst prisoner retention record in the state! Anyone with a toothpick could get out! The building was a converted old shopfront from circa 1900, and was so poorly laid out for its repurposed use it was a breeze to sneak out of! It got to the point the city cops would drive to the county seat 30 miles away to put people accused of a serious crime in the county jail, and only used the city jail as a drunk tank. |

Will give more input later as it's 1am and the drugs are kivking in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You are the first person ever to comment on that picture - and I was so pleased when I found it. Snails don't have faces, but if they did, that snail would look like one of my players when I told them there was a weapon scanner at the door of the club they were infiltrating. (You don't want to know how much artillery they had concealed about their person. We need to get more material up for the N.O.C.L.U.E. files. I'm sure there must be some stories out there, so email them in. The subject is player / PC stupidity, normally leading to disaster(s). QUOTE (W@gemage) I especially like the node layout. To get a halfway decent and logical node layout takes quite a bit of work. Thanks. It's probably the best Matrix site that I've done so far. Though it's a little harder than I would like it to be. Still, it strongly encourages the players to infiltrate the station and hack from a less secure inner node if they need to get in. QUOTE (W@gemage) Our current campaign is drawing to a close. When it's done I'll try to compile my notes/drawings and also make them available. That's great. If for any reason you need somewhere to host them, I'd be honoured to. I get quite a bit of traffic there so they'd get plenty of downloads and I can provide stats on this as well if interested. Peace, K. |

Opposition Roster A couple of smallish additions to my site. I somehow managed to get the RSS feed working (don't ask me how), so you can see when and where I've updated the site now. I'm very smug about that. (The computer programmers will probably laugh). Secondly, I have some minor new content. I write up some of the opposition for my game (some gets used, some just sits in the waiting pile) and I thought I might as well reformat it and share it. I'll continue to update it if there's interest. I'll keep the same file name for each update and just put up a notification when its been updated. This is the "Opposition Roster" above. Let me know what you think and if I should add more to it. Feedback on any of my site is always welcome, Thanks, Khadim. |
