I'm positive I alreayd made a topic about this, but i ca'nt seem to find it.

anywho, was going to be my first wow expansion i didnt buy. Kids wanted it though to make a Kung fu panda po character. I have several characters at 90. Its ok, but I've lost interest fast and probably won't be renewing.

stopped doing dailies since Cata. I really can't bring myself to do'em anymore (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) . There are actually a few guildies of old still around, but they aren't many and I think they are tiring too. I think the grand ole days are gone.

The grand old days is always the last expansion funnily enough.
I can understand them. DS wasn't much of a comfort in the nine month gap before the expansion, heck we called raiding 3 months in and went away from the game.
Guilds die, communities disperge, things change... Such is the way of things. If you're still interested in the game I strongly urge you to find a more living community. Because the truth of the matter is... People come for the game, they stay for the people.

My guild remain strong and we will keep coming back. Because we built ourselves on the people, not the loot.

Canne wait for the next expansion although, they got something big building up.

I logged in and played a new Pandaren for ... maybe an hour? Two?

But I just can't get "into" the game anymore. It's more of the same-old-same-old, it doesn't entertain anymore. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)

I don't even care for the game much, I'm in it because it's socializing with friends.

To answer my own question. Probably only Tetris, I keep coming back to some games with frequent intervals although... Especially Super Metroid.

(a) I didn't get into WoW from day 1 - I joined not quite a year in;
(b) I haven't played continuously - I left shortly before TBC launched, and came back just after WLK launched. I've taken a few breaks here and there, since.

I got snookered by the "Pledge a year's sub and get a copy of Diablo 3" deal that they had going. If I could go back and smack my past self, I would (haven't been able to bring myself to play through the game more than once). As far as WoW is concerned, I stopped playing about two weeks after Cata came out, bought MoP a few weeks after it came up, and rushed my monk up to 67 or so before I got bored and started taking a break again. But, with the wife bugging me to play with her, I imagine I'll eventually hit 90. The problem is, I enjoy the raiding aspect of the game (I feel kinda meh about the pvp) but I don't have the undisturbed hours that it takes anymore. Heck, I feel lucky if I manage to sneak in an instance without some sort of an interruption. So...yeah. I like monk and all, but I don't play anywhere near what I used to. Mostly due to a lot of my friends having stopped playing over the years I guess. Is like Lion said, you initially play the game to play the game, then you stay for the people.

Diablo 3 was exactly what I wanted from my Diablo sequel... Well still want some of that juicy expansion stuff...

But the cinematic at the end of Act 1 is powerful, probably the best one Blizzard ever made. Even compared to the WC3 ones...
I put 600+ hours into D3 and I still enjoy it.
Blizzard don't make amazing games, they make good games and then patch them until they're amazing

Difficulty ramp was too steep (compared to the rewards) from mode to mode IMO. All three of us enjoyed the heck out of Normal, but Nightmare ... we didn't even finish Act 1, before deciding that it was just too much of a slog, for the pitiful drops we were getting.

Even the whole rainbow-unicorn stuff, ugh, the drops suddenly went to crap after a patch, and we were like "why the hell are we bothering with this anymore?"

Act 2 Inferno was a bit ludicrous pre-patch admittedly, legendaries was very dissappointing and I enjoyed the main game way more then the pony level anyhow... (Except when you bring unsuspecting friends into it and scar them for life, Hil-ar-i-ous!)
But all of that have been fixed.
The difficulty is adjustable thanks to monster power and several balance changes, legendaries are unique and cool. and for the real nutters there's additional content with the infernal machine and paragon levels.
They still haven't delivered on PvP although, but meh Diablo doesn't cost me anything extra and it more of a game between games anyway.
Like I said, eventually great.

It should be noted that Im massive achievement whore: 11290 achievement points in WoW and I haven't even gotten around to install MoP yet, so no MoP achievements and no account wide achievements (My computer is broken)
And a stubborn bastard that strives to excel at any game he plays and is very fond of a challenge!

I got in during TDC, then quit. Then came back near the end of TBC and raided a little. Played WotLK early (2nd paladin on server to reach 80) then quit without raiding because I burned myself out leveling. Came back between Tier 9 and 10. Raided HC ICC with guild on 10 man. Burned myself out leveling in cataclysm, haven't come back. I have a group of friends that played and would leave and periodically come back and drag me back. None of them has touched it in awhile. Pleasantly, I've been out of touch with them a little bit so no need to feel any pressure to play anything, but they were involved in Guild Wars 2 which I wouldn't touch.

Now I spend a lot of time playing MP on ME3.

Pre-patch I struggled through Act 2 inferno with a full team and got my ass kicked on Act 3.
Post-patch I soloed Act 3 and Act 4.

You should give it a go a lot of guilds don't really mind if you're the strong silent type as long as you show up, does what's required of you and don't cause a ruckus, if that's to much for you to start of with you should try Raidfinder the same anonymity as Dungeons or PvP. it's a nice (if simplified) introduction to raiding, being available to people with a busy schedule is a bonus.
Raiding is definitely the biggest draw of WoW compared to any other MMO, there is simply nothing else like it. In fact there is nothing quite like it in any other game.
I've yet to see someone that didn't get bitten by the raiding bug atleast a little. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The nice thing about MMOs is that you don't need to interact with people to play with them.

I also don't want the stress of "you stood two in-character paces too far to the left and caused a party wipe. /kick" Plus I don't know when to time most of the skills best used in a multiplayer situation, anyway. Solo DPS, thanks - there's a reason I prefer Hunters, Ret Pallies, and DK: durable enough to survive melee, even when specced for DPS questing.

I was able to reach the level cap with my DK, each time it went up (except MoP now), without ever having to go in an Instance. Good enough for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Addons..... Deadly Boss Mods, etc etc.

Raiding is pretty simple though they made it a bit too dancy in Cataclysm.

In raidfinder the mechanics are grossly simplified and usually not instantly lethal, also the default UI usually tells you if there's something you really must avoid, along with the dungeon journal to give you a clue on what the fight is about. Raidfinder groups generally don't kick unless you're dead last in the dps, afk or a giant prick to people.

I maintain that addons are optional despite what people claim, I've cleared all HC content in Wrath and most of Cata completely without addons.
If you want the meat on how your class works in a group setting the class forums on Battle.net or fan sites like Mmo-champion, tankspot or wowhead is a good start, my hunter friends usually say they go to female dwarf... If you want to dig yourself into the number crunching... Elitist jerks.

It kinda comes with a playing in a group setting, you can figure out how every encounter works on your own and with some experience you generally do it on the fly. But just like with football it's easier for everyone involved if you get how the game is played explained to you then for everyone involved to wait for you to figure it out on your own.
The classguides is a nice starting point if you're completely lost but generally most classes are quite intuitive.

I've taken that stance on a few things however like gemming/reforging tools, addons and simulations... It can help you out, but it's really not required.
