With your help I would like to resurrect Unsound’s (and later Grimm’s) efforts at the persistent world thread (although four months later in the timeline as a fresh start for all). To ease bookkeeping and avoid the need for a single central coordinator I am suggesting some tweaks to the awards system so that individual players and GMs can track their own karma / cash flow.
The IC thread is <<here>> Character Gen / Game Notes:
Just post a character in this thread and you are good to go...no need for GM approval. The main setting is Seattle, and this is where most PC interaction will probably take place but the whole game world is open (just keep your time / location stamps obvious to avoid any confusion!). Here’s the info from the original OoC thread post (with some minor amendments): [ Spoiler ] Please start IC posts with: @ (PC or GM you want to respond to the thread) + [Your Character Name] [Time & Location] Can you identify in the OoC thread if you are interested in doing some GMing (either exclusively or in addition to running a PC or two) or if you are actively looking for a group/PC archetype within the game world? I am willing to do some GMing but I am also running my Emerging game so some additional GM support would be much appreciated! I will try and link in with threads that I am playing in or GMing to provide some consistency to players who might be in both. Any questions or comments then please let me know! IC Timeline Apr15th to Present [ Spoiler ]

One thing I like about playing on the forums is the chance to create lots of characters. However I have a character that I created for a game that never got started, that I liked very much.
Jens If the character is not suitable, I'll be happy to create something else. |

@Galenbd: yes, that's free Cha x2 BPs worth of contacts
@Seth: now you can play lots of characters in one thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and GM too...! Bonus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'll put up three possible starting threads in the IC post today and you can let me know if they interest you or if you want to pursue something character specific?!? |

I'll have to tweak Jens a bit. In that game (IIRC) there were no free contacts, but if you spent 25 bp on contacts and detailed them, you got another 25. (By the way I thought that was a very interesting rule which might work well in 2072).
It's interesting that Jamie and I are quite similar: Jacks of all trades (bit of fighting, bit of talking, bit of hacking...). In a grim and gritty world, you have to be able to do a bit of everything yourself. |

Hi Aria Am interested in playing with Seth rather than against him! Can you give me an idea of characters you'd like to see? Many thanks A x Anything at all provided it interests you! Of course it would be handy if it wasn't someone with a pathological hatred of vampires (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Characters that are fairly self reliant work best for this thread as the chances are you'll do some solo stuff or in twos / threes rather than groups of four to five...so generalists work well, with a focus on something you are good at (and events should be tailored so that you don't need dice pools of 20+ to succeed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) |

Skills Electronics 8 ... Disguise 5 Security Proc 8 ... Forensics 6 This looks like you have added the Skill Rating and the corresponding Attribute together. That's not such a good idea, you better list the Skill Rating only there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Bye Thanee I agree. That is what I did. That way I don't have to calculate the rating when I need to roll. What is your reasoning for why it is better to leave them as just skill ratings? Galen |

Because you do not always use them with the default Attribute (esp. Hacking is most often used with Program Ratings; some Skills also might be paired with different Attributes occasionally), sometimes the actual Skill Rating is relevant, and it is easier to figure out the cost to increase a Skill. Also, it might be easy to miss that you often have other modifiers that are involved. Or what if your Attributes get increased or decreased temporarily? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) In any way, you should probably list both (the seperate Skill Rating and your total base Dice Pool). For example, you list Pistols (Semi-Automatics) 6. I guess that's Skill Rating 3 + Agility 3. In most cases, your Dice Pool will be 10, though (+ Spec + Smartlink). So, the 6 is not really a useful figure, it is just one step of a few included there (i.e. adding the Attribute). Listing the actual, full Dice Pool would be more helpful, I believe. I think it would be more useful overall, if you list the Skill Ratings just as they are (maybe with the Attribute written out as a reference, i.e. "Pistols (Semi-Automatics) 3+AGI (+2)"), and then maybe make an extra area for Dice Pools, where you have your total Dice Pools for the various actions listed with your "built-in" modifiers. @Thanee Thank you for your well reasoned reply. I adjusted the character I posted. @Aria I appreciate the clarity. I have adjusted the contacts section. Galen |

I haven't 2072ed the character (the creation rules are different) but I don't think that will matter for the first couple of posts |

It's also close to the cop shop so if Galen wants to persue that one then he can be in the same place at the same time... |

I'm putting these in case (?) there is a combat
Listen for the men: I rolled twice just take the first: 7 successes. Perhaps the second was the visual perception check as they came into sight Surprise roll. Oh yes I like this already: start lucky! 10 successes IP 1: two tasers one each. Even more good luck. 5 and 11 Well if that works, it will be a very gratifying beginning to a new character |

So things are hotting up here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Hope I'm not spreading myself too thin...feel free to kick me if I'm not keeping up (2 games as a gm and 2 as a player will be a stretch but I like a challenge (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
I was going to submit my own character but I'll hold fire and see if anyone would like a spot of GMing on this thread too... @Seth, those shots seem to have ignored some negative mods for range and a second target but given that they were excessively good we'll brush over those details (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Whipcord guy is going to get slightly zapped (thanks to nonconductive linings on his leathers) and street sam is going down like a poleaxed, well poleaxed something or other (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Shouldn't be an issue to disarm the kid...not sure what Jamie will do to you though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) |

@Aria
Thanks for GMing! I show ignorance...second target...looking up rules now ( I don't use guns a lot in Shadowrun). I thought the range was going to be less than 5m...my bad I'm glad the street samurai went down. Perhaps mistakenly he looks scarier. Since I don't know whos doing what at the moment, I opened up with non lethal force, I'll continue in the same vein for one more IP I guess its IP2 I need to avoid the dagger of the plucky Jamie: I accidentally rolled twice..just take first 5 successes and shoot Mr Whipcord twice using up the last two darts in the taser: 5 and 6 (I should have removed 3 from these, as I am in melee combat...) I'm guessing Mr Whipcord is going to shoot me, so I had better get out of the way of those: I think I messed up these: I forgot that as I am in melee I get a minus 3, and also forgot that I have the (partial cover?) of the rubbish bags / doorway. So I should have rolled 1 less die 3 and 3. I suspect a world of ouch is coming my way in IP 2. By the way I haven't named a dependent for my character yet... I like the style of Jamie (even if hes in the process of getting me killed) so if its OK with you I'll make him the (easy?) dependent (i.e. I will have an emotional stake in making sure that hes ok...plenty of fictional precedent I think) |

All right, I'm new at this system. I want to hack into any communication that is happening between the 3 hunters I can see. At the moment, I don't know what nodes are theirs. If I perform a Locate Wireless Node, I get all node within my Signal range. At rating 4, that's a full km.
Will I be able to tell these 3 out of the hundreds I will get back? Galen |

@Galenbd
I took a while to find the correct section: QUOTE You attempt to locate a hidden node. You must be aware of the node, or at least have a good guess of where the device should be (for example, if your commlink is not detecting a node for Mr. Johnson but you are pretty sure he has a PAN, or when you can see the security drone but it is operating in Hidden mode). To find the node, make a Electronic Warfare + Scan (4) Test. You may instead make a general search for Hidden nodes that are within mutual Signal range. In this case, the test is an Electronic Warfare + Scan (15+, 1 Combat Turn) Extended Test, rather than a Complex Action I'm fairly sure that you are in the first mode, so you scan "the four people over there", and need 4 successes on EW + Scan. You'll pick up mine: I'm "Mr Black". As a side note, you probably saw me drop my paper bag as the gun shots fired.. |

I saw that as well. That is for a Hidden PAN. If these 3 are working in coordination, they are not Hidden, they are Passive. From the text you posted, Scan can be used to find Hidden Nodes on an individual.
Here is the text for Detect Wireless Node: Detect Active/Passive Wireless Nodes (System) You automatically find all of the nodes within Signal range that are in Active or Passive mode. It seems a reasonable assumption that I can use Detect Wireless Node to find out if an individual has a PAN. If it's Hidden, I should get back nothing. If Passive, or Active, it should give me the data. It also seems like this action would give me back every Node within a km. It seems reasonable I could set it up so it catalogs Nodes I can see differently, so they are more obvious. I'm not sure what skill is associated to this. It lists System, but does not list a skill associated. It might be automatic. I think I will assume Electronic Warfare + System. Galen |

Good news for you: its a free action to find any active / passive in the area:
QUOTE Detect Active/Passive Wireless Nodes (System ) You automatically find all of the nodes within Signal range that are in Active or Passive mode. By the way: glad we did this. My understanding of the modes of operation are far better now. @Aria Gotcha. The kids called "Kid". No problem. Its the kid that's going to get me killed! |

Hey Galen there is useful thing on invisible castle. If you ask for 1 roll of say "6d6.hits(5)", it will give you a nicer format and count the ones that got 5 or more.
I think you undersold yourself. Scanning is Electronic Warface + Scan, so thats (I think) 7 die with your EW skill of 2, and program at 5. Summary of where I am in the round: IP1: I had the drop on the two guys, shot the samurai IP2: Dodged the kid, shot the remaining guy twice, have rolled some dodges against any counterfire IP3: If I am not blown away by the counterfire I will ready my Rutger Warhawk, then shoot the Whipcord cord with the BFGTM |

I think you undersold yourself. Scanning is Electronic Warface + Scan, so thats (I think) 7 die with your EW skill of 2, and program at 5. That’s what was so confusing about this. As far as I can tell, Scan is only used to find a Hidden Node. If the Node is not Hidden, the System should automatically find it. If you actually want to eavesdrop, you have to use Sniffer. That being said, I think I forgot one die from my System rating. It should have been 7 dice. Galen |

Nice website
QUOTE Do you want me to start him off waiting to meet someone in a Redmond (Touristville) dive on the evening of the 15th? That sounds good. I haven't put a lot of thought into the prelude but perhaps something a little in the style of 2072 like: Can we have a bit of bemoaning the fact that you are short of cash... Hospital fees for the car crash Charlotte and the children were in were sadly not covered by the worthless University health insurance. You have checked them into Dr Bobs street clinic. You had enough to pay, but that drained your reserves...etc. Charlotte is obviously not in a position to find work for you. At the moment they are in intensive care, but their prognosis is good. Dr Bob is a very good doctor: he's patched you up before, and says that he will be keeping them in hot sleep for about three days, so there is no point you being about. "Go home and go to sleep". You start a little tired in a bar, having a small beer on the way home. Your prose is better than mine so go to it! |

Electronic warfare + Scan 3 successes Detect hidden nodes
Electronic warface + Sniffer 2 successes I need to work on this... I hope that's enough to support the garbled interception Calming the kid down. I am not sure which social skill it is, so just rolling the influence group: 5 successes. |

Well money isn’t really a problem for Ember, trust fund baby of wealthy French nobility and all that...but I’ve gone with your little seed, he’s in the barrens because he needed an out of the way street doc (Argent has helped them in the past with supplies etc so he trusts them) rather than a reputable hospital.
He suspects that his family were deliberately run off the road... (Whether they were or not is up to you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) revenge hook, a classic!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Ps. Don’t sell yourself short on the prose thing! ...and your mind is even more twisted than mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) 2072 Karma earnt: 26 spent: Silk 10, Ember 9 |

We need a contextual shorthand. I'm adlibing so that we don't get confused which game it is:
@Aria/Jotamon If your OK with it, I'm going to have the kid faint. That leaves the two of us with a problem. And she's a girl, probably better with kids than I am. I'm planning a background with Alyena now, but having seen your Ember website, I suspect we will be a few days at it! @Aria/Ember Tempest lets you known that the guy with the knife was awakened, and that the other guy has a serious amount of chrome. @GalenDb We need a reason to stick together for a while. We were admiring your post: looking for inspiration when Alyena spotted there is a mismatch in Ember's age. You must have been a precocious 5 year old when you married Charlotte...(18 years married, 23 years old). All praise Alyena's proof reading skill. |

@GalenDb We need a reason to stick together for a while. Suggestions:
Yeah, I'm handwaving a lot of the normal paranoia that comes with Shadowrun. I have both a car and a street doc. Ask me IC and I'll make it happen. Galen |

I think I screwed up.
I never upgraded the node in the car, so it's signal rating is 1. I had assumed I would not need to call it from far away. I figure I'm a couple hundred meters from it. That's well out of range. @Aria Do you want me to redo this? I should be able to know a local node I can hack that would be closer if you'd rather me go that route. Also I have realized it only has Pilot 1 and Response of 1. It would roll 2 dice to follow my directions. I hope it would get a dice pool bonus for simple instructions and a previously defined route. I think signal rating 1 would be ok, as you have parked it in a sensible place, and every where is covered by WiFi. Its not the distance to you, its the distance to the nearest network access point. I would increase it though (although I am looking at my character and none of them have. I can see a future involving a soldering iron for many of them)
I think the car only only needs to roll die if its likely to fail: so when the baddies turn up as the car arrives that will be exciting! But just to go from A to B I don't think it needs a die roll. |

I agree, I will need to make some form of upgrade. Signal in particular is cheap to upgrade. I think the car only only needs to roll die if its likely to fail: so when the baddies turn up as the car arrives that will be exciting! But just to go from A to B I don't think it needs a die roll. I didn't want to assume this would be a simple task. I figured I'd let the GM decide. It might make a good story if the car drove past me. Galen |

QUOTE What kind of person brings a medkit to go shopping? I am simply a concerned individual who has yours and the kids welfare at heart. I'm already making up excuses to justify to myself why I am getting involved, but basically its a beaten up scared kid, and we Mafia types don't approve of that (unless we are doing the beating up). I actually thought quite hard about whether I would have it before I posted... but it is the barrens, and 2072 kit is pretty small. I thought a medikit, a taser and a customized BFG for scaring off gangsters would be enough. Little did I know what nefarious schemes the GM would throw at us! |

Speaking as the nefarious GM I approve of taking the medkit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Galen, you are in Touristville so there's plenty of wifi coverage here. Seth had it right with the pilot too...it's capable of following a pre planned route, just hope the clean up crew don't tag you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) Not sure I'll get a comprehensive IC post up before Monday but I'll do my best...give Alyana a chance to join you anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@Jamie Yokinko flags a possible trace about three blocks away, that kid can run! It's difficult to pinpoint exactly as the signal has broken off before the trace completed... I am new to this system. Can you please explain in game terms what happened? I had two successes out of 10. Yokinko was trying to get more to complete the trace. He should need 8 more. Did he report that his task was finished? Jamie should know what actions could result in this effect. Galen does not. Galen |

Did he report that his task was finished? Jamie should know what actions could result in this effect. Galen does not. Galen Well I'm going by all the police films I've ever seen...tracing a comm call requires you to have a connection long enough to get a fix (10 successes with a -ve pool equal to their stealth program which is none in this case). The trace program is designed for icons rather than comm calls as far as I can tell which tend to be less permanent...someone correct me if I'm wrong?!? QUOTE Capture Wireless Signal (Sniffer ) You eavesdrop on wireless traffic going to and from a device. You must be within the device’s Signal range to capture the traffic. You must succeed in an Electronic Warfare + Sniffer (3) test to start the capture, and then you may copy, record, or forward the traffic without another test as long as you remain within the target device’s Signal range and keep the Sniffer program running. There is no way for other parties to detect your capture (without access to your commlink, of course). If the traffic is encrypted, you must break the encryption before it can be captured. & QUOTE Trace User (Track )
You trace an icon back to its originating node. This is a Computer + Track (10, Complex Action) Extended Test. The target may increase the threshold with the Redirect Trace action, and a Stealth program run by your target acts as a negative dice pool modifier. When you reach the threshold of the Extended Test, you have successfully traced the target, learning the target’s access ID and the location of the device housing the originating node (usually the user’s commlink). If the target is using a wired connection to the Matrix, you learn his exact location. If he is using a wireless connection, you have his location triangulated to within about 50 meters. As long as you keep your Track program running and the target remains connected to the Matrix, you may continue to monitor the target’s location. Black IC can make the trace easier. You can also use this action to trace a subscription to its other end. For example, you may trace the subscription from a drone to the rigger controlling it. |

I think that your agent needs to keep retrying (and its -1 die per retry), until it accumulates enough successes. Or Aria can just fudge it and say "these are computer incompetents and your agent just found them".
As an aside for anyone else who wants to join Ember in the separate, just let me know and I will write you in. |

Have been thinking about Doza, hope the following is ok
Can I clarify what Doza's brief is regarding 'the Kid'. She has quite strong code about what she will and won't do. If he's been used as a courier, will have no problem picking him up and turning him upside down to see what falls out. However, will not cause him any real harm, or deliver him to others if I think that's likely. |

@Aria
First stab at a background for Jotamon Nothing came easy to Frank Mareno. Born as an orc, the tenth child of a member of the Marenoclan, he was always the runt. Other people seemed to more gifted, and more likable. Frank found his first life lesson: "Work hard and you can compensate for anything". He wasn't clever, and he wasn't lucky, but he knew how to apply himself to his studies, and he worked hard. The family noticed and rewarded him with his first piece of cyber/bioware cerebral boosters. The difference this made to him was incredible. A whole new world of understanding was opened. This was the start of his love affair with tech. One problem Frank had was that he didn't really like violence. As the son of Soldato, it was expected that he would take part in the family business. And every now and then the family business involved concrete overshoes or leg breaking. Frank noticed though that he could put off joining the business if he went to college. The problem was that even with hard work, he wasn't making the grades. This is where he learnt his second life lesson "There is always another way". The college needed grades, or sporting excellence. Frank was actually very good with a pistol, and with two years of serious practice he was good enough to get a college sporting bursary.At college he learnt about people: how to talk to people, how to understand them, and get them to do what you want. He learnt about computers: how to get them to do what they are supposed to, and even better how to break through their defences. He came to the opinion that a man who understands people, and understands computers can do anything. It was in his last year at college that he met Doza. The two got on surprisingly, and the year that he spent with her was the best in his life. Frank and Doza were making plans for how they could escape the destiny that fate had thrown them: She was a mercenary for a "leave feet first only" outfit, and he was the son of Mafiosa. Then she suddenly vanished without a message or anything. Frank assumed that she was dead. This was the start of a truely miserable year He became a soldato for real, and his negotiation skills and computer skills counted for almost nothing. A Fortunately he was good at acting, and he could put on the act of the Soldato, but he was constantly scared that it would stop being an act, and start being who he was After a year the Vory happened. With a slight historical bent, Frank called that the night of long knives. It was meant to be a coup de tat, a putsch. The Vory came from nowhere and in a single night half the Moreni family died under a series of coordinated strikes. Frank was visiting the Capo when it went down, and was bored at a family dinner. He had hacked the external cameras to alleviate the boredom of the Capo's birthday speech, when he saw the marks of another hacker looping cameras. Alerting everyone, the run on the capo was defeated, although Frank was very badly wounded almost to the point of death, he personally killed two of the samurai that burst through the doors into the family meal, that were about to kill the Capo. The capo ensured that Frank lived, and there was no shortage of cyber/bioware to help repair his shattered body. Frank now learnt his third important life lesson: "In a violent world, it is important to be able to survive, and to be able to dish it out". The ware helps a lot, but Frank has puts a lot of effort into maintaining his skills at combat, and generally keeping fit. Frank has now proved his manhood in the eyes on the Mafia and is a Made Man. This has worked to his favour, as it means among other things that he can avoid some of the more unpleasant sides of the Mafia business. Frank mostly deals in white collar crime now. The Mafia he works with call him Jotamon: a misspelling of "Jack of All Trade, Master of None". Frank is currently travelling around the company. He earns enough money to get by as an electrical repair man. He tells the Family it is a cover, and he is still called on for the operations, but he is much happier with a microtonic toolkit repairing a microwave for a little old lady, then he is breaking bones for the Family. |

@DH/Seta: Not having seen your character post yet I’m assuming you are a push bike cycle courier but let me know if I’m wrong. I thought I’d reintroduce Scratch from your Loveland game for another bit of inter game continuity. I will probably stat her up as a 400BP character for 2072 too (probably with some modifications to the original stats as I’m always tweaking my characters (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )
@Doza: Background looks fine to me but the thought of second hand cyber just makes my skin crawl (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Especially something as invasive as MBW – they had to strip it out of a dead guy! But beggars can’t be choosers, and they probably only told you it was knocked off once they’d turned you back on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) Your contract regarding the kid was moderately specific – collect him, keep him safe and take him to a specified location which you guess to be a safe house (the implication being he was in some kind of trouble and you would be helping him out). How they knew where he’d be is anyone’s guess of course...! @Jotamon: It’s going to be a shock seeing Doza again! Weird coincidence heh?!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) @Jamie: You will easily breeze through the limited security on the commlink – see IC post...you just need to let me know what you want to do with the info... |

@Aria/Jotamon
Gosh this is awkward...what to say. What do you say when you have just been shot at and the love of your life who you thought was dead suddenly appears. @Aria/Ember Feel free to be rational or irrational....your wife is in emergency at the moment. Mind you these guys are just high class messenger men.The paperwork looks legit (as far as you can tell: it has a gold seal and everything), and basically means that it will cost the employer if you end up dead (or beaten or robbed or ...) Then again maybe they can afford it. For 100K though they could order a hit on you by a serious assassin or kidnapper. @Notsoevildm There are two or three threads running. You are very welcome to join Ember in the thread I am running or either of the threads that Aria is running (I suspect that Aria's two threads will merge...but who knows). |

Copperhead's sheet is in my sig. It's about 13 karma, 30k nuyen and a couple of extra contacts over the 400 BP. These were awards from the original thread but I can recreate the original 400 BP character if you prefer.
I'm happy to join any of the current arcs, but I still need read through the whole thread to bring myself up to speed. |

The easiest way for you to get Copperhead in is to 'already know him', and ask him to help. The money that Mr Johnson fronted is enough to recruit someone if you want to keep it more impersonal. |

Copperhead is indeed female. Her cyberware actually makes her a pretty poor shaman at the moment; consider her more like a troll ganger with perks.
One way to link her to Ember would be that she is trying to learn more about magic and either her talismonger contact or her totem led her to Ember. Ember could also have noticed the cybered lady troll that seemed to be paying more interest in his spirit than him at the 'Horny Troll' bar. Failing that a friend of a friend could simply put her name forward as a someone who trying to get into the shadow scene. |

Ember should get out more! @NotSoEvilDM: Copperhead looks fine. Can I request that you get the extended range detect enemies spell?..not that I have specific need for you to have it or anything... |

Will try and write an IC in for Copperhead this morning. More too for Jamie, Jotamon and Doza is brewing in my nasty GM mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif)

Hello, I was wondering if there is still room in the game. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have a goofy weapons-specialist that I've been dying to play, since both of my other PCs in campaigns are rather dry. I have the character sheet linked in my sig from the Cast of Shadows thread---Damien Donatien AKA Demon. He's a womanizing, wino of a Frenchman. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

@JxJxA
Hi and welcome to 2072. Aria's Gming one game, and somehow I fluffed it, and he is in charge of recruiting for the game I am running (note to self: don't do that again!). @Aria/Jotamon It was touching...a tear in my eye. Glad they decided to sniper the already taken out guys and not us. Surprise: 6 successes. That's initiative 20 I think. IP1: Get in the car Free action Spotting the sniper 3 successes IP2: Free action to text Doza I'll take a simple action to do a proper look: 4 successes (two rolls 3 successes and 1 successe, as I forgot about the minus 2) Another simple action to look: 7 successes, Got him! (I hope) IP3: Simple action scan for signals: only 2 successes I'll probably try and shoot the sniper, but I will wait to see what else has happened. I'll hang off posting the IP 2 and 3 results until I know what is happening. What is the range to the sniper? and cover modifiers? |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You were the one that said I should negotiate hire fees! @Ember [April 15th 2072; 20:30: Kobe Terrace Park] <<[My Allenby]. What! What! Who is this? How did you get my private number! Go away? I don't know Charlotte. If you bother me again I will set Lone Star on you >> Did you mean to use Charlotte's name? I'm reasonably sure I said Argent?!? I just want to check if it was a minor slip before I pounce on him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Oh, and by April '72 the chances are that KE have taken over from Lone Star (in the nicer parts of town at least) |

Point taken about Lone Star...that is very relevant TY.
He still said Lone Star, but that's because he is flustered and a bit old fashioned I really meant to say Charlotte. And he has hung up (he sounded flustered and angry). When you try and reconnect he has put you on his blacklist. If you make some sort of computer roll you can work out how to bypass the black list (2 successes on logic + computer, 1 success on logic + hacking, you can default computer). Otherwise you can hire someone with those skills, or go there: its only an hour away from where Copperhead is, although his workplace about 10 minutes from where you are. His home place is an hour away. Perhaps you could rearrange the meet with Copperhead, or do it virtually? That wasn't pressure from me: its just a pain for you to travel an hour away and then an hour back. Computer options: You can just find mapping software (equivalent of google maps) to show you roughly where his house is and what the terrain is You can do a data search on his home address, or work address. (default computer skills ok. One success gets you a lot). If you look for the mapping software you find his home address is a bulletproof condo in the Richmond highlands. He lives with the band. It's designed for keeping out paparazzi not shadowrunners. |

@Jamie et al.
2072 Locations EDIT: link doesn't seem to work...can you follow my sig link to my website and checkout the links there? Thanks to Google Maps I’ve got some additional info for you so that you can picture where you are (note I’ve made some changes to account for 60 odd years but in essence it’s the same) NE41st street is an offshoot of NE40th street and housed Microsoft execs before that company sunk in the first crash. The condos are large and spacious, set back from the street with gardens (or what were once gardens, now dust bowls with straggled weeds) You are at the intersection with 40th street and the kid came from between two buildings off 41st to the north. The trace reports that the Bastard and team are in the warren of cul-de-sacs to the north west of here. Your shooter is in a 4 storey apartment building on the south side of NE40th street (all the southern side of this street is lined with low level apartments which aren’t there 2010s), about 20-30m from your position. The jackrabbit is facing west towards downtown and therefore on the north side of the road (I had to think about this carefully, fancy driving on the wrong side of the road (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )... @Seth, do you have a location for the Horny Troll and I’ll add it to the map...anyone else want anything adding on I can see about opening this up for collaboration (don’t know if that’ll work but we’ll see...) @JxJxA: Well I think Ember and Demon would seriously annoy each other (might be fun (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) so I’m sure we could find a reason for him to hire you too! Given the French connection there’s a chance he knows you already... Otherwise I can work you into the thread with Seth, Alyena and Galen? Or if DH get’s back to us I can work you in with him on the courier run. Let us know which you’d prefer?!? |

How are we handling Initiative Passes? By my estimation, the sniper had a Surprise round to shoot our previous opposition.
Now we are actually in Initiative. I defined Jamie's actions, Seth defined Jotomon's actions, Aria defined the snipers actions. I understand we are waiting on Doza. No pressure, just trying to understand. Aria indicated what had happened so far. Once Doza posts, do the three of us post our intended actions for IP number 2? Then the GM resolves? Galen |

QUOTE By my estimation, the sniper had a Surprise round to shoot our previous opposition. Aha spot the D20 player. That game gives you cancer you know! As I understand it (although I have to reread the rules everytime) 1: The attacker rolls surprise (with +6 die) 2: Everyone else rolls surprise (only getting +6 if you knew that the attackers were there) 3: In IP 1 unless you beat the attacker, you are surprised, although you can still do things that don't affect the attacker (for example draw weapons, put children in the car, move). 4: Then you go to IP 2, and no one is surprised. Surprise is far more damaging in shadowrun than d20, but you "only" get one IP of surprise. @Aria/Ember I'll let you and Copperhead get together before posting any more IC. Tell me when you want to go somewhere. |

Thank you for clarifying surprise. I'll include that in our next, inevitable, firefight. I've been corrupted by too much d20, I agree.
That still does not answer my base question. How are we handling communication of actions in a given IP? Is the way I described it correct? Seth has define tentative actions for the entire Combat Turn. Should we be doing it that way? What convention are we using? Galen |

Everyone seems to use their own conventions in play by forum. I recommend mine (obviously) as reduces the time taken to process it by the GM. Occasionally I have to go back and edit the post, but mostly it seems to work well.

I ran a one shot d20 game to test 3 Combat Turns at once. The players defined their tentative actions for 3 turns. It meant a lot of work for the GM typing everything out once I figured everything out. It has unfortunately been deleted.
That's why I was skeptical about defining all action for the entire Combat Turn. I didn't want to overload the GM. Galen |

I'll be the first to admit it doesn't always work but I try and make things as free flowing as possible (sometimes at the expense of initiative orders etc) so that people don't have to wait for anyone else to post.
One thing that has worked (given the ease of invisible castle for doing multiple rolls) is to get people to roll 2-3 attack rolls and 2-3 defence rolls and then I just run through them in turn as required, ignoring the rolls that aren't needed...that way you shoot someone, if they get to shoot back I can use your roll to IC the defense and don't need to wait for you to roll and the IC keeps moving. Sometimes you change your mind and then it's easy enough to go back and edit out a section of IC Your are all tentatively on IP2 I think...and just because you've 'spotted' one shooter, who's to say there aren't 2? Okay, I've added the finishing touches to Demon. Do I just jump in with a post? (sorry, I'm a little new to Shadowrun and very new to a Persistent World setup) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

[April 15th, 2072 10:16am; NE41st St. Touristville, Redmond] Jamie climbs more comfortably into the driver’s seat. People get less nervy if they think there’s actually a person driving. She maps out a quick route that’s away from the node she traced before. I suspect he’s out of the picture, but I don’t want to drive into that firefight. Once the dogbrain is occupied with it’s new order, Jamie maps a longer route taking them to the 405. You seem to have made your gettaway...where are you headed? Probably something Seth/Jotamon will want to discuss...and I hope Doza bought a vehicle (although there's a bus headed to Downtown that will be along shortly...) |

QUOTE I'm sure either Ember or Seth If you don't mind Aria, it will come much better from Ember: Mr Johnson is quite satisfied with the quality and number of people he has recruited! @Aria/Galen/Alyena We might as well head to that Stuffer ShackTM, so we can meet up. I suspect Jamie and myself had better introduce ourselves to each other... |

Holy crap, it's been a long ass time since I've been to this neck of the woods, and imagine my surprise when I found out that this game is still alive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif) Aria, you are bloody awesome. Hats off to Grimm as well, who as far as I understand also had a hand in keeping my baby going. I would apologize to my old players for dropping off the grid so suddenly, but none of them seem to be around anymore. Life's been crazy, I've had to move to a new country, and stuff still ain't settled yet. Maybe when it does I'll pop in here to GM a run or two. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Aria: with you as an operator, I'm sure that this game will go to places I've never even dreamed about when I first conceived it. I look forward to reading the stories you and your crew come up with. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I think we can get there our selves. Jamie doesn't know where it is so I hope Jotomon will suggest it at some point. Jamie's currently just trying to get the hell out of Dodge.
