I recently ended up cruising through the E3 section of Yahoo!'s Games Domain, and ended up positively falling in love with a lot of the PC and console titles there.

This thread is to see if anyone else's been following E3, and if so, what they're watching, as well as to generally discuss Console/PC gaming in general. :cyber:

My list:

-F.E.A.R. (It's like X-Files meets Stephen King meets Die Hard. I have no clue how that's possible, but it kicks butt.)
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. (This game creeps me out more than Resident Evil for some reason...)
-Odama (Pinball + RTS. 'nuff said.)
-Half Life 2 (...Just...Wow.)
-Advance Wars (Whoooooooooooo-WHEE! Did you see that sucker go flying, sarge?!)
-Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (Doesn't impress me now, but I'm still keeping an eye on it...)
-Timesplitters: Future Perfect (The single-player doesn't look half-arsed, the weapons selection looks more varied and less hodgepodge, new eras, and new characters. 'nuff said.)
-Halo 2 (Frag the original.)
-Area 51 (Looks like it needs some work, but looks like it might turn out to be a pretty solid FPS.)
-Amazing Island (I don't know all that much about it...But it looks interesting.)
-Starfox Armada (Nothing beats the classics. Except the classics with tactfully applied extra spiffage.)
-Metal Gear Solid 3 (Hopefully this won't be as mucky on my GameCube as Twin Snakes. And the trailer was *PAINFULLY* cheesy...:dead:)
-Legend of Zelda [GameCube] ()
-Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (MULTIPLAYER METROID! W00T!)
-Sid Meier's Pirates! (Sid Meier? Making a pirate game? ...Oh, sweet Jesus...)
-Starcraft: Ghost (They'd better not screw this one up...)
-Paper Mario 2 (More of the same? If it works, why not?)
-Spy Fiction (The two male protagonists look awfully effeminate, but I can forgive that in lieu of the nice-looking gameplay.)
-Prince of Persia 2 ('nuff said.)
-The Matrix Online (As bad as the second two movies were, the idea of slow-mo gun-fu martial arts battles en-masse is too tempting to ignore.)

Your turn. :D

-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. (This game creeps me out more than Resident Evil for some reason...)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (no 'S') has been on my watch list since they released the tech demo video two years ago. Assuming this game actually lives up to all the developer claims I will be blown away. If S.T.A.L.K.E.R. videos and Resident Evil scare you though, you'd better not try to play Silent Hill 2.

QUOTE
-Half Life 2 (...Just...Wow.)

Yeah, HL2 is still looking good but FarCry stole some of its thunder. Valve shouldn't have announced it last year (especially with the "set in stone" September date). I still forget about how much I hate the concept of Steam every time I watch the latest E3 video.

Yes, I love Valve. These bruises are from when I fell down the stairs. Sure we fight a lot but it's always my fault.

QUOTE
-Halo 2 (Frag the original.)

I haven't read anything about it, but I'm still bitter about MS buying up the Halo devs and rushing the game out as "yet another pretty but stupid shooter" instead of the brilliant RPG/shooter hybrid it could have been. So unless Halo 2 is supposed to live up to those old "spiritual successor to Deus Ex" dreams I'm not interested.

QUOTE
-Metal Gear Solid 3 (Hopefully this won't be as mucky on my GameCube as Twin Snakes. And the trailer was *PAINFULLY* cheesy...:dead:)

The video for MGS3 has proven to me that Metal Gear jumped the shark in MGS2. Stupid characters (A whiny kid? A vampire?) and stupid plot threads (Otacon incest? Triple-crosses?) ruined that game. This one looks to be ruined by stupid hardware that didn't exist in the 1960's and yet more stupid plot threads. Tom Clancy needs to invade Konami and make Hideo Kojima his bitch.

QUOTE
-Prince of Persia 2 ('nuff said.)

Don't you mean Prince of Persia 5? :S Usually these little name games aren't a big deal, but in this case there is already a Prince of Persia 2. Anyway, I loved the "first" game and (assuming there will be a PC port) look forward to this one.

Grah. *Sands of Time 2. I'm tired and more than a little out of the loop lately...

*sigh* I just hope that more stuff this year gets released than yet even more Vietnam/Iraq/WW2 shooters. I mean, they're fun, but online multiplayer has never interested me that much (except with Team Fortress Classic. :D) That and I'd rather not be thinking about our current political situation right now. I have a headache.

As for Metal Gear Solid...I never really liked it THAT much. Bloody leg-humping fanboys...I dislike entirely-stealth games---which is why I like Die Hard Vendetta. Utter mayhem alternating with pleasant subtle sneaking. :D

I'd love it if Prince of Persia II were shown at E3. Man, I was so scared the first time I walked into one of those scythes in the walls…

Two words. Doom III.

Grah. *Sands of Time 2.

You didn't mess it up, Ubi Soft did! They really are calling the game "Prince of Persia 2". :please:

-- EDIT ---

This thread is long-dead now, but it turns out that this was a working title (even though it was all over the web site and press releases for the game). The actual title will be "Prince of Persia: Warrior Within".

That is all.

Starcraft Ghost, MGS 3 and Halo 2 definately. Half Life 2 too, but the joygasm has sort of dissipated by now. Not looking forward to Doom 3 because I just bought a new computer and I doubt even then I'll be able to run it.

I am totally, totally looking forward to Advent Rising. One of the best damn names for a game I've seen so far, and the plot seems cool.

I'm going to have to break down and buy a new graphics card. There's just no way around it at this point.

Hmmm. HL2 looks like it has a decent possibility of functioning on my machine. I'm mainly worried about the space requirements...

Other than that, I mainly look forward to F.E.A.R. and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as far as PC goes. :wobble:

I've never really respected the Halo franchise...:S Always been generic to me---FAR too much so. But Halo 2 I'll see if I can get from a friend.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect... One of the better multiplayer FPSes for consoles gets better. Screw the fact that the PS2 versions and X-Box versions get netplay. :S

And as for Star Fox Armada...Well, ya can't beat a classic-styled arcade romp, I've found. :cyber: :D

Like this one?

;)

You'd be able to toss the games up across two 30" monitors... provided you had ~7k to throw at them. :dead:

I'm probably thinking about an NVIDIA GeForce, but I'm not sure what model to go with. $600 seems a little steep considering whole computers don't cost that much anymore ;)

Any suggestions on something that'll handle the up-and-coming games but has a more palatable price tag?

That would be great. And in 12 years, when Halo 2 comes out for Mac, I'd have paid off the monitors and card and would be able to afford the game! ;-)

There are two games that I have been waiting for since I heard about them and I have both reserved. #1 would be HALO 2. The original was one of the best things to hit the gaming industry since half-life, and thats saying something. Also, I've been drooling over Fable for some time now. The idea of your character's appearance reflecting the way you play is just way too cool. If you dont go outside during the day your skin will turn very pale and vice versa. Not to mention you get to start play as a child and then go through the life and possibly death of a completly unique character every time you play. I jus cant wait for those two!

Peace

I want Bethesda to reveal the Elder Scrolls IV.

It's been so hush hush.
