Here's is a list of the more humorous ruling my GM had to make. Everything here was ruled in response to something someone has suggested doing or tried to do, though I suspect many were thrown out just to get a rise out of the GM. I got the idea to post this after reading "Things Mr. Welch can no longer do in an Rpg."

1. A shadowrunner PC is expected to do some shadowrunning. No hiring other shadowrunners to take your place or relying on contacts to do all of your work for you.

2. Lowfyr is not an acceptable contact.
2.1 Nor any other dragon.
2.2 Nor any other famous shadowrun character.

3. PCs are expected to do shadowruns. They should not decide to pursue a safer, alternate criminal career such as:
3.1 Stealing cars
3.2 Selling copied software.
3.3 Forgery
3.3 Prostituting themselves.
3.4 Mugging random people.

4. Troll social adepts will no longer be accepted.

5. PCs cannot ask to be a halfing.
5.1 or gnome
5.2 or centaur

6. A black elf who dual wields swords is not an acceptable PC.

7. Nudity does not grant a bonus to any social roll.

8. Being a ninja is a privilege, not a right. Try not to be an ass.

9. While an adept with maxed out infiltration and agility, improved ability (infiltration) 6, wearing a camouflage suit, concealed by a force 7 water spirit, and under the effects of improved invisibility is impressively hard to detect, the GM will not rule that it is impossible for any living thing to detect you, as you have requested.

10. PCs cannot use the palming skill to hide their Panther Cannon.

11. PCs are expected to have at least one weapon that does less than 10P.

12. PCs are expected to have one gun that is not a rocket launcher.

13. There is no Addiction: Murder.

14. While faerie can be an acceptable choice for a magical tradition, the character who takes it cannot have a lisp.

15. There is no “Skyclad” Geas.

16. No PC can enter a dream pact with a force 20 free spirit.

17. Jesus is not a valid choice for a mentor spirit.

18. PCs cannot take every drug in the game at once.

19. PCs are expected to make characters that do not begin play with an addiction to every drug in shadowrun.

20. While it will be accepted this time, in the future PCs are expected to have a backstory that is longer and more involved than “I have amnesia.”

21. PCs cannot have a long and rambling backstory that details how they were the real cause of every major event in the shadowrun timeline.

22. PCs cannot have a spiritual awakening, followed by turning all their friends, their contacts, and their Mr. J over to lonestar.

23. PCs are not allowed to use their down time to:
23.1 Use the spell shattershield to destroy wards all around town, causing thousands of nuyen in property damage and mass panic when mage response teams are called to twenty different locations in fifteen minutes.
23.1(a) Even if they do happen to be a chaos mage.
23.2 Burning anything that will burn.
23.2(a) Even if they do happen to be a chaos mage
23.3 Prostituting themselves
23.4 Slaying dragons

24. The GM is willing to allow a PC to wield a monowire chainsaw without penalties, but dual wielding them is right out.
24.1 No dual wielding Panther Cannons either
24.2 You know, the GM would appreciate it if PCs did not dual wield anything.

25. PCs are not allowed to put 20 grenades in a backpack, rig them to explode at once, and throw the whole package at their enemies.

26. PCs will not attempt to assassinate their target by attempting to blow up the building he happens to be in.

27. Shau can no longer play a “demolitions dwarf” character.

28. Porn is not an acceptable specialization for the data search skill
28.1 Dwarf on orc lesbian porn is not any more acceptable.

29. PCs can not begin the game with over eight steel lynxes.

30. PCs cannot be a self aware AI.
30.1 Or a ‘Free Sprite.”
30.2 Or a ghost trapped in the machine.

31. Even if a PC has a great supply of miniwelders and thermite, there is no reason to go through a wall when a perfectly good door is right there.

32. PCs will stop going through the floor or ceiling, forcing the GM to make every location three dimensional to be a challenge.
