Shadowrunners
Can Opener, the Traditional Mage Quick Willie, the Machinegun Samurai Selina, the Cat Shaman IC Princess, the Cyber Warrior Smiley, the Sioux Adept House Rules 1. Physical melee and ranged attacks will be defended against with Reaction + Dodge. (This includes Indirect Combat Spells) 2. Full Defense tests will be Reaction + Dodge + Dodge. 3. Physical Direct spells are defended against with Body + Body. 4. Mana Direct spells are defended against with Willpower + Willpower. 5. Elemental Combat spells have their Drain Code lowered by 2, making them F/2 +1 for single target and F/2 +3 for area effect. 6. Only two Magical Traditions are allowed at Char-gen, Hermetic and Shamanic. 7. Hermetic Magicians lose access to the Mentor Spirit Quality, but instead gain access to the Elemental Focus Quality. (see below) 8. Shamanic Magicians may take the Spirits of the Flame Quality. (see below) 9. Initiation/Submersion no longer increases the Maximum cap of Magic/Resonance. (Hard cap of 6 placed on both Magic and Resonance, determined by Essence) Elemental Focus Cost: 5 BP Most mages take a balanced approach to the four elements of earth, air, fire and water. Others align themselves with a single element and become elemental mages, gaining +2 dice for spells and spirits of that element. The penalty for such specialization is that the mage suffers a -1 die for spells and spirits of the opposite element (fire opposes water, earth opposes air). A fire mage, for example, has +2 dice for combat spells and fire elementals, but applies -1 die for illusion spells and water elementals. Elemental mages may develop personality traits commonly associated with their element. For example, earth mages are often characterized as materialistic and practical. Air mages are seen as cerebral and thoughtful. Fire mages are willful and aggressive, while water mages are intuitive and emotional. Though these are stereotypes, elemental mages will show these characteristics to some degree. Like a totem or mentor spirit, the alignment chosen for an elemental mage is permanent. Only a full hermetic magician can choose this quality. Spirits of the Flame Cost: 0 BP Some shamans have learned to summon a type of nature spirit that represents the more active and primal element found throughout the natural world. Most commonly, these shamans are capable of conjuring spirits born of heat and fire known as salamanders, or spirits of the flame. This fundamental change can only happen at the cost of the ability to conjure spirits of man. Traditionally, flame spirits are known to dwell within places of great heat or fire, such as active volcanos or arid deserts, and in cultures where fire is especially honored, like the kahunas of Hawai'i or the elven magical paths of Tir na nOg. This quality is only available to full shamanic magicians. |

How do ýou plan to "create a barrier" with an earth spirit? There are a few approaches. Most obvious? Mobile bollard. "Manifest yourself there." An earth spirit won't be interpreted as a living entity, so the truck won't make a calculated SINless scum splat on the landscape, as opposed to saving corporate cash by stopping and rerouting. I could go on, but I'm sure you could come up with a few more approaches of varying degrees of violence yourself. |

Other ways to fool the truck:
Magic Fingers to turn the steering wheel. Hack the truck. Trid Phantasm to fool the sensors. Levitate object in front of sensors. |

Magic Fingers to turn the steering wheel. That would be tricky, apart from the fact, that it probably doesn't even have a steering wheel, or even a driver's cabin, you have to see the target to manipulate it. And, AFAIK, most vehicles in SR have windows, that you cannot look through from the outside. But, yeah, there should be plenty ways for us to slow it down, stop it, re-route it, etc. Someone has to open that lock without triggering an alarm, at least that would be good. Mulcarn, could you let us know relative distance and directions from the club to each of the target locations?

Gotcha! Thought there was some power that did that, that I wasn't aware of. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It depends upon the GM's interpretation, but if (for example, which I deem personally reasonable) an earth elemental could be called upon to reconfigure the ground in an area, then the earth elemental could build a modest trench or raise a series of earthen barricades at short notice. That, too, would be an obvious option. It's certainly a classic in terms of the concept of earth elementals. |

Mulcarn, could you let us know relative distance and directions from the club to each of the target locations? Use this map for a quick reference. Nothing of mine is listed on it but it should help. Seattle Map 1. The Spikes are in a Tacoma Dive Bar. ETA - maybe 10-15 minutes 2. Humanis are inside one of their Chapter Houses in Puyallup. ETA - maybe 5 minutes 3. Skraacha Gangers are outside one of the Ork Underground Entrances within Puyallup. ETA - maybe 5 minutes 4. Jimmy the Chin is "working" at the Crime Mall. (That one is on the map) ETA - maybe 5 minutes 5. The autotruck is currently cruising through Seattle, on its way to Puyallup. ETA - will take about 40-45 minutes to get to Puyallup. |

@Crossbow:
Hey, guy, I found only your first pass at Smiley in the Recruitment thread, but it doesn't show the levels you have for Adept Powers. Is there an update posted somewhere I missed? I'm figuring out who is likely to go first, how to shoot at X when Smiley is beating on him, etc. EDIT: I found Mulcarn's suggestions. Never mind. |

QUOTE I assume the legit copy has had its copy protection broken. Once you do that, it is not longer legit and degrades just like pirated software, BTW. Bye Thanee |

They both come on legit softs. I double checked before making that post. It's the registration which allows for tracking and prevents degradation.

You each get a free (and temporary) Armored Leather Jacket. It has the same stats as a standard Armored Jacket and it's not modified at all save for the excess green patches labeled on them and a giant Ancients logo on the back.
Roll 1d6 and the number determines what kind of goody you'll get from inside one of the jacket's pockets. |

Jacket Surprise!
Got a 2, same as Willie. We're jacket buddies! I assume the tacsoft is rating 1? Not something nice like rating 2 or 3? |

For you guys, you'll need to provide a number of sensors equal to twice the rating of the tacsoft to benefit from it, and we'll need the rating plus two of us to have a proper net. My drones count as my sensors sadly, not as extra bodies.

I'll let you figure the tacsoft out, thanks SleepIncarnate. Willie has eyeware and ear tech as well as smartlink, which should be enough, no? I will be more than happy to use the extra die!
Looking at the armour we have been given, it appears Selina and IC Princess can't wear the jackets without incurring encumbrance penalties. Selina can alter her own garb to make it look like Ancients jackets, and I guess could do the same for IC Princess if she wants the help. IC Princess and Can Opener are the thinkers of the group, the rest of us fall somewhat short in the Logic department. Of course, we will all contribute ideas. I will try to (uncharacteristically) keep in the background and in the OOC thread as far as planning goes, at least until Willie gets some more brain power. He will have all kinds of ideas bubbling up and blurting out, though. Neither he nor I will take offense when the weirder shit is shot down. Just, please, please, don't call him a dumb trog. Willie is far and away the most armoured of the crew, so I suspect he will be allowed to be a shield in front of the softer targets like Can Opener and Selina. IC Princess may hang back as a rigger sending drones in to do dirty work and hacking the Matrix opposition? Willie is indeed quick, (it would be hard to make a character quicker without getting lopsided in abilities) and will often (usually?) be the first to act in a combat round. In combat, when noise no longer matters, Willie is going to unload a shitstorm of autofire at multiple targets (one per IP) and then Dodge for all he's worth to avoid the return fire and protect the squidgy ones. Good thing bullets are cheap. He is much weaker against magic, so if he can identify magicians, he will try to slice and dice them first. As far as force multipliers go, I have huge respect for drones and spirits. I'm glad we have both on our side! There's more like ten of us, rather than five. I assume IC Princess will take over the provided Rover (We have two of our own parked here! Popular vehicle, that.) so Willie will ride shotgun. OK. SMG. Speaking of which, we don't have any longer range weapon than his SMG. We'll have to fix that should we hang together as a team for further runs. |
