W00t thats good news! Im sure no one will have a problem waiting a while longer since your focusing on finishing Shadowrun books! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Means more books for us within the near future! Good job Adam! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Have the books delayed a day, or the transcript delayed 2 weeks...

Delay the books and get the damn transcript finished. I, for one, have been waiting patiently for the transcript, and that patience is nearly out.

Long Version
Look, I can't speak for anyone else, but I think that harassing people for free stuff is just plain rude. It occurs to me that Adam and the rest are trying to get books out so that Catalyst can keep publishing books; it's about cash flow. The transcript for an online chat that some people didn't bother to attend makes no money, and so is (and should be) of a low priority. My suggestion is to, in the future, either arrange to attend the online chats of interest, or to ask someone else that will be attending to cut-and-paste it for you. Haranguing people with Real Jobs isn't helpful.

Also, if one has run out of patience waiting for free stuff, I'd suggest that one stop waiting. I can't respect a person who unreasonably feels entitled to someone else's time, energy, or property.

Short Version
Quit whining.

While the transcript does not directly bring in revenue, it is part of customer service/satisfaction, and so does affect income. I for one was and still am very interested in this last chat, and did not "didn't bother to attend", but could not attend. And as I have suggested before, it should simply be posted on these forums if they cannot find the time for PDF formatting. Doing so would take at most 15 minutes for cut & paste and basic layout.

There is a difference between whining & complaining. I have posted my suggestion on how to get the transcript available. It has so far gone unheeded. Adam obviously has time to periodically read & post on these forums, yet has not bothered to take my suggestion, explain why it would not work or why they cannot do so, or even respond at all in regards to the transcript except to say they are currently unable to work on it. Now, I have posted my (valid) complaint about how they are delaying the transcript for weeks so they can finish another far away project a day earlier (if that).

As for if I was whining, I would have instead been posting multiple rehashes of the same complaints with no suggestions on how to solve them, or really anything of any substance at all.

Honestly I don’t care for the monthly chats, but since they are done I like to read them. What I would rather see in place of the monthly chats is a section added to the forums that allows you to post a question to the people at Catalyst, and only they are able to respond to it. I have seen a forum that has a section like this, and here is how it works:

  1. Forum Member posts his question
  2. Question does not post until it has been reviewed
  3. Forum Staff (we know there are thousands of them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) then reviews and notifies/distributes the question to the person capable of answering the question
  4. Once the question has been answered it is posted and the thread is locked so no one is able comment in that section (if you want to comment on it go to the general area (Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > Shadowrun). By locking the thread so you only have the question and the developers answer this would prevent the thread from expand.

As I stated above I saw this done on another forum and it has worked very well for the past few years, so that’s that is my thought on what I would like to see if this message board is capable of doing it (after all this is the only Shadowrun Forum I know of).

P.s. The crew from Catalyst would respond to the questions when they have a chance.

the dumpshock forums are not actually the CGL forums. it's not like the forum admins can just walk over to the folks at CGL and hand them a list of questions to answer. (well, i suppose certain admins could).

honestly, what with the number of questions that would be just as easy for the player base to handle, or for players to resolve for themselves, i don't think this would be a particularly necessary feature. frankly, it's more than sufficient that most of the devs/freelancers seem to keep an eye on the forums, and frequently provide observations about things that actually require their attention, while allowing players to handle questions where their intervention is not required.

I agree, and know, that this is not a CGL forum; and I never mentioned the forum admins would "walk over ot the folks at CGL and hand them a list of questions to answer." Having a seperate section where you could ask questions would be monitored by the CGL team as well.

"honestly, what with the number of questions that would be just as easy for the player base to handle"

"As I stated above I saw this done on another forum and it has worked very well for the past few years." The other forum has fewer people employed who are able to answer the questions, but their goal is also different from that of hobby game company. It's up to CGL and the owner of this board.

Like I said it's a suggestion. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Since i've started seeing the transcripts I've wanted to attend the chats but it happens to fall on the timeslot allocated to my groups SR game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) So I have to wait for the transcripts to be posted. I dont mind waiting for something free; as long as its released before the next chat session.

I missed the chat last time due to a computer error, java went south on me as the chat got underway. Better believe I was watching after and bought Unwired and the PDF as soon as I could. Read Unwired cover to cover, loved it and started watching for the chat transcript. I really liked the in character one, but I think I learned more from the old format. Haven't seen it yet so I'm just chilling.

If you can't wait for new info pick up the preorder with the PDF. Or go back over Arsenal with Unwired next to you. I've been knee deep in rebuilds of all my many characters I'll most likely never get to play. Love to read the chat when it's available though.

With two books off to press this week and two more in the proofing stages, and a full night's sleep -- a pleasant change -- I've made a day to catch up on all sorts of little tasks, and getting the chat transcript up was one of those. You can grab it here:

http://www.shadowrun4.com/wordpress/?p=241

I'm still exceptionally busy and that isn't going to change until after Gen Con. I won't be on DSF much, but I'll be back with some good news in a couple days.

Shadowrun Books!

Extrapolating from the release order in the Chat, since Unwired has been released, Ghost Cartels, Runner's Companion and Feral Cities would be the next 3 in the queue.
