That's beautiful and simply has to figure in the first SR4 game I run... Mr Jhonson has a strong italian accent, has a pious air, wears obvious religious symbolism, and speaks with a fiery christian rhetoric. He speaks of the retrieval of forbidden books, books possibly spanning back millenia or more, having been stolen from a great library during transit. The pay is good, on the one condition that nobody opens the crates or views the materials. Knowing my players, they'd probably try to look in the crates (immensely tough sealed containers which are locked three times, equipped with deadly ICE, and astrally warded) even before the fight with the gangers that stole them was over. |

I just want to thank everybody who has mailed me. I won't promise anything for now because my plate is way too full as it is, but I'll try to get back to the Vigilia as soon as I have the time. It's very cool and gratifying that this number of people are still interested in the Vigilia.

Well I introduced the plot hook for the Vigilia Evangelica into my game over the weekend. Whole group took off with it like a shot. Bunch of horror nutz just like me I am afraid, lol. However, the interesting thing was what my wife had to say afterwards. She has a degree in archeology and just went on and on about how the Roman Catholic Church probably has the largest and widest collection of artifacts from pre-Christian cultures any were in the world. Pointed me in several directions for ideas on what they may have. Thing that really upset her was that much of the artifacts that the church may have collected over the years is almost assuredly useless in research do to lack of proper documentation. From the game master point of view this is great. The church has a bunch of items that they think may be dangerous but have no clue what it is or even were it is from. Mana level gets high enough something that was forgotten down in those vaults may “wake up” really annoyed, lol.

Knowing most Shadowrunning groups, a run in the library will probably turn out like this. ;)

Another idea would be to have the libraries have records of sites were ancient evil had been imprisoned. Think "Dominion" the precursor to the "exorcist". The barried church in that movie would be very cool to build a run around. The runners could be hired by the church to stop the site from being dug up or the runners could be the ones doing the digging and bumping heads with the Vigilia Evangelica.
