Ok, setting aside all complaints about action figure art, I CP v.3 has some good ideas mixed it some... shall we say... questionable ones.

I'll throw the question out to the crowd here. What's worth stealing? For me, it really is all about ideas for full conversion cyborg bodies. I love 'em.

Mr. Studd

That's already been thoroughly stolen and re-purposed for use in SR from the previous editions of CP. Unless CP v.3 brings all sorts of new features to Mr. Studd, it's just old news.

Would someone be so kind as to describe this Mr. Studd? I've never really gotten the chance to do the CP thing (other than a really great net-book in which a guy converted a ton of equipment for use in SR, and I don't recall seeing Mr. Studd in it). Thanks.

It's cyberreplacement's answer to Viagra. (What was the ad copy? "All night, Every Night, and she'll never know...", of course, that was just the basic model. Get one tricked out with the optional features, and she'll know.)

And it's female version, Midnight Lady. The very strange players buy both.

That was it. If I recall correctly, that was the entire extent of the writeup on what the item did. That's pretty much all you needed to know as far as game mechanics.

On a related note, I recall when a female player asked -- with genuine seriousness -- if Wired Reflexes also increased the speed of your tongue.

I don't think she was looking for a bonus to Fast Talk.

I know the Mr Studd also gave bonuses to your Seduction skill. Which, I guess, meant you advertised the fact, when attempting to pick someone up in a bar, or whatever (which sort of defeated the purpose of the "...and she'll never know" bit, huh?).

Ahh, good times.

What, you don't rub your crotch up against people when trying to woo them?

Although in the midnight lady version, I do think you might just have to say it outright (but who cares if the guy knows?)

I always assumed Midnight Lady was equivalent to breast implants. The bonus to seduction in that case is obvious.

BTW, anyone else noticed who owns the area where Knight City is in Shadowrun?

Answer: Ares. Which means that in a much more important fashion, that part of the CFS is owned by Damien Knight.

So in the Shadowrun Timeline as in the Cyberpunk Timeline, Santa Cruz California has been renamed "Knight City", though for different reasons.

Bad frank, naughty in your bed!!

tee hee, nice reference.

To add a little to the thread I would like to see the play being body mods, like mr Stud/midnight lady but all over...

If I ever play cyberpunk agian I will play a solo who was fitted with one as for an undercover job and now refuses to have it removed...

I wonder what it says about Dumpshockers that the first thing that we focus on is the Mr Studd implant.

I try not to do movie quotes to excess around here, but this is just begging for it:

"This is my rifle, this is my gun. One is for fighting, one is for fun."

There's a very upsetting rumour going around that the new cybernetics in Cyberpunk v3 cost NO humanity points. At all.
So literally every pc can easily look like Robocop for free.
Overpowered, ridiculous, and very non-cyberpunk this sounds to me.

I'm sticking with Shadowrun.

i got the impression that humanity cost is optional. ie, there is still a stat for it, but the costs are not realy layed out or something.

dont have the pdf tho, just something i picked up over on vfte...

My one friend statted out the Mr. Studd for a character of mine for a one-shot, the loveable Dr. Stud, rocker turned samurai who got the thing implanted on a drunken bet with his friends. He doesn't remember. It was a .5 essence piece of gear we agreed. But not being undone, he got the damn thing beta-implanted.
