Sounds a little bit like, in what that they both start with the letter N?

Personally I always thought NERPS sounded more like this crazy game system by Steve Jackson that I'm not going to name.

Nebis on the other hand sounds a lot like Kevis

No. It originally it was to stand for Non-Erupting Rocket-Powered Suppositories, but then the FASA QA lab reported that they could not back such promises.

I hate to see an inquisitive mind get thrown off by all these old veterans yanking your chain.

Nerps is a common Shadowrun slang for - "NEandrathrals Really Piss-off Shadowrunners."

It's kind of a throwback to the days when D&D had the RPG market cornered, and Shadowrun was sort of a 'rogue' RPG in the mix. Neandrathrals are, obviously, D&D players - That nickname is based on most D&D players complete inability to understand how the mechanics of their silly little system is horribly linear. It's a term to describe the unwashed masses of easily manipulated RPG players who, more often than not, fund the incredibly oppressive d20 regime.

The Pissing-off Shadowrunners part stems from the fact that Shadowrun, a far superior system, usually falls behind the publicity of the horrendous Tyranny of Dungeons and Dragons.

But then again. With all the Elves running around these days, it may not be -that- much better.
