Ummm... I thought you couldn't run a clearsight higher then your pilot. I mean, pilot is sort of an omnistat including System, response and firewall, and you can't run a program higher then the system rating. Also, I do not beleive that clearsights come above rating 4. Please correct me if I am mistaken here.

I was thinking about the pilot=system thing just after I posted the results. Yeah the BBB confirms autosofts cannot exceed rating 4.

So what you need to do Rokur is fix your sheet and send me a new copy, I'm not going to penalize you or anything (mainly because it's my fault for not catching it), but I need a new, fixed sheet before you roll any dice reguarding your commlink and drones.

I'm noticing you took all the programs at rating 6, your commlink is a stock Fairlight Caliban (response 4, Signal 5) and a stock Novatech Navi (Firewall 3, System 4) which means that while you can purchase the programs at level 6 you can only run them at 4, because per p.225 of the BBB, you cannot run a program at a higher rating than your system. So, what I'd do is either remove all the multiples of programs you have, and upgrade my system or down grade all my programs to rating 4, still getting rid of multiple programs, and buy something else. But you need to fix it before you can roll ANYTHING relating to your commlink and your drones. Sorry for the inconvienience.

Now all we need are Patch and Aku to get to the party, and I can have him move you all to the private room he's got....

But in the meantime, I'm constructing a coporate profile for two companies I use heavily in my runs Catalyst Incorporated, and Muchado Industries. I don't like using the companies the game has layed out because they don't seem real to me, for example despite everything else Aztechnologies just wants to hand the world over to the horrors. With Muchado and Catalyst they are real, genuine companies that don't care about anything but the bottom dollar, though there are certain key individuals with corporate expense accounts who have....ecclectic tastes shall we say. That along with the image I'm trying to create of The Lonely Heart's Club, I will have enough material to make a fairly nice shadowrun website giving folks additional things to use in thier runs, and possibly ideas for stories.

But that is neither here nor there, and doesn't really pertain to the run, except that those three entities will most likely come into play somewhere down the road.

That being the case, generally how big are these corps. What I mean to ask is, can we generally assume are characters are aware of these two corps - just as we all know about Del Monte and Intel - are do our characters need relevant corporate knowledge skills to have heard of them?
Just trying not to mix what I know with what my character knows.

Nah, your characters would definately know about Catalyst Inc. and Muchado Ind. (it's actually with one of those u's that have two dots over it but I'm too lazy to pull out the character map).

For information purposes heres a short write up on each.

Catalyst Inc. is based out of Houston, Texas CAS, and is one of the fastest growing corporations in today's market. Founded in 2060, it has taken this giant corp only ten years to go from a one location accounting firm, to a AA megacorp. It's buisness is built primarily on corporate accounting, handling clients like Ares Macrotech, and Aztechnologies, which it has used the profits from to purchase smaller companies, growing it's power base.

Muchado Industries (AA), based out of Munich, Germany is a firearm manufacturer that has been in buisness since the late 2010's. It's primary competitor is Ares Macrotech, and is currently in negotiations to merge with Catalyst Inc. If the merger is successful it will make the newly formed company (commonly dubbed, Parisol Technologies) the eigth richest company in the world, with subsidiaries in every field and ties to almost every existing corporation.

The only changes that I wanna make are simple. First, Avie just uses the money to buy things he think will help him, and if he can buy rating 6 he will. So for the programs, just keep them at 6, screw the money... it's only about 15000 or something.... and for the autosofts... just delete them all and replace them with Clearsight 4, Maneuvering (heli) 4, Maneuvering (wheeled) 4, Targeting (rifle) 4, Defense (4) and Electronic Warfare(4).

I don't see where it says that autosofts are maxed by pilots? I do know that a Sprite or an Agent can only use programs at their rating.

About the System ratings... it seems that one can't just upgrade it. I did the calculations and I got an extra 3 BP still... so, I'm not that worried about it. I'm not making any changes to the char style or what he does. So, I don't think it should be that big a deal for these minor changes... no?

Plus who knows, it would suck to have brought all of my hacksofts down to 4 and then stumble across a new OS and etc etc.

In regaurds to the system and pilot thing, p.213 says the pilot rating is equal to the drone's system. Then on p.225 it says that a device (not specifically a commlink) cannot run a program at a greater value than it's system.

You can easily upgrade the system, firewall, response and signal, as per the tables on p228 and p240 respectively. while system and firewall don't have an availability (I checked in errata, because my book is first printing), response and signal do, which the max a starting character can upgrade to is 5. To upgrade the firewall and system to 6 it costs 3000 :nuyen: each, and response and signal to 5 is 4000 for response and 1000 for signal.

If you want I can go ahead and do those upgrades with the money left over from the autosofts.

Also you can, if I'm reading the chart on p.228 correctly, upgrade the pilot on you drones to accomodate the higher rated autosofts. It costs the same as an agent, and if I am incorrect about that I'm still going to let it fly, since there is not a single vehicle (let alone drone) that has a pilot over a 3. Which doesn't make much sense because a westwind has the same pilot as a flyspy(that's not even mentioning the fact that they give you the option to buy a rating 4 program but no drone in the book could run it, unless you could somehow upgrade the pilot). But maybe they'll give clearer indications in Unwired, when it's released.

Aku, that's fine, Rl comes first. If you make time in the near future, just let me know and I'll figure out a way to inject you in.

And according to the sheet, Patch has every limb, obvious, and the torso. The only thing that is natural is his head (and probably some internal organs too).

Umm since, Aku won't be joining us for the onset of the run, I'm going to go ahead and move forward with the run. I hope everybody has done everything they wanted to, prior to the briefing. If not feel free to back track in time, and take care of it.

As of right now, I have updated Avenger's sheet on my machine, but Rokur, I'd like you to do it like you want and send it to me, that way we are bothing looking at the same thing, because I've still got two points left on mine (but I think now that that was for the drugs...) If you know how, add them to the available items in the program, per the prices we discussed, all of them have an availability of 12F (which is for later aquisition, should you run out). If you don't know how, PM me and I'll walk you through it.

just click data>equipments

then that will bring up an input menu, switch to other equipment, then input the data (under source put the page numbers), and then add notes based on what they effects are, and the prices I gave you.

But you don't need to do that, I'll do it on mine, then email you the data file with instructions on where to put it.

[edit]
the updated data file should be sitting in your inbox

Umm, Rokur, I think a dice roll to convince him of your need for a car would be appropriate.

So give me a Negotiation + Charisma roll.

Jack Crawford (Negotiation + Charisma opposed test)

Vs. Avenger (Charisma 3 + Negotiation 4)
6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4, 4

5 hits
dang, why can't I roll like that over something important, lol.

Unless I missed it your defaulting for the negotiation roll any way, so that means 2 dice. Maybe someone who has the skill or at least a higher charisma might come to your aid (and my dice won't do so well that time).
