History:
Skater and a warez hacker from Quebec, Noid got his name from watching too many Dominos Pizza commercials in the late 80s. Using 'The Noid' as his trademark, he began by breaking encryption software and offering warez from his secure server to various hacker FTP and IRC sites.
Outside of computers, Noid lives in one of the rougher neighbourhoods of Montreal. He combines street fighting with Tai Kwon Do to help the gang he hangs out with keep their hood safe from rivals and troublemakers. He finds his martial arts training to be the one bit of peace he has in the chaotic world he lives in.

Aiming for larger fish, and bigger distribution, he bit off more than he could chew when the cops infiltrated one of his largest providers, that's when TheNoid realised needed a way out.
He doesn't know how he did it, but some chance street fight in Montreal got him messed up with a group of 'freedom fighters'. Seeing them 'fight the system' and as liberators from the 'corporate machine', he asked for a way out, to escape the trappings of society. It happened by chance that they were in fact looking for a new addition to their team. After watching him for a week, his witts and agility made for a good addition to the cause, and they extracted him.

That was 4 years ago, a crackshot cracker in his own right, though his English may not be the best, he's got a lot of street smarts, having grown up in the mean streets of Montreal. A year ago, he signed up to the Caleb and was one of the lucky survivors of that disaster.
This near death experience and the amazing flight for survival has taught him to be a little more cautious with his environment, both in and out of the Matrix.

Since part of the background of my character is he's trying to find out about the Agents (and would probably have some knowledge of other programs, like the Merovingian) what should I call the knowledge skill?

I hate to cancel this before it even gets off the ground, but the story line I had in mind just isn't coming together. I liked everyones effort and characters, this is just my inability to make the story I wanted to tell work.

If anyone wants to use the idea, characters, and thread to continue all, by all means please do so.

Alice Usagi -called Idoru by her parents and friends- was born on July, 13th 1983 in Tokio. Her mother was a medical doctor and psychologist, who spent most of her time in the hospital. Her father a technical manager for the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) was constantly traveling and not at home most of the time. Alice spent her early years in the kindergarten, where her talent for gymnastics was discovered and suported.
In the winter of 1990 Alice and her mother had a fatal car-accident, when a truck rammed them and their cab crashed into the Sumida river. The car crashed through the thin ice-sheet and with the windshield smashed, filled with water in seconds and sank like a rock. Somehow the girl made it out of the car, but she could not find an opening in the frozen barrier covering the surface. These seconds felt like hours, when she struggled to brake through. When the cold water entered her throat and lungs, it fealt like a serpent of cold steel winding its way into her thorax. The light shifted into the red and her limbs went numb and heavy as if held by restraints. The last thing she whitnessed before losing conciousness was light, like a person with a flashlight was walking over the surface above her, then she passed out. Alice was rescued by a couragious young women, who hapened to pass by, but vanished when the ambulance arrived. Alice´s mother however, didn´t make it, though her body had never been found.
Ever since, she had nightmares of drowning in a river, enclosed under the ice. Her father was not the same after that. He was heartbroken but also tryed to compensate for the loss of a mother, by being a better father. He would see his doughter more often, allways apearing unanounced and for a few minutes or hours only, while he was supposed to be out of town on bussiness. He told his doughter, that it was magic and she must not tell anyone about it, or else they would have to depart. He also showed Alice little tricks, incredible feats of prestidigitation, that she would never have belived possible, and she never discovered how he did them. Still she spend more time alone then most children and so she learned to get along by herself at an early age. She learned to get the everyday things done and she learned to make others do what she wanted them to, by using her cute and helpless looks first and funky logic of playing to peoples desires.
The girl entered an elementary school specialized on sports, where her talents would be supported and she became a member of the cheerleaders and the gymnastics team. While not in school, she was alone at home or stayed with Aunty or Uncle. Aunty woule bake wonderfull cookies with her and give her candy every time. Alice didn´t like it though, that Aunty would smoke so much, but there would allways be other children to play with at her place, many of which could do funny magic tricks. Uncle was a funny man, Alice liked to talk to him, while he was working in his small workshop. He was the one, who gave Alice the keys to her secret place.
Sometime she would visite the Temple, where the monks would look after her and tell her strange and funny stories or play football with her. When not visiting Uncle or Aunty or the Temple and her dad wasn´t at home either, Alice would meet with other kids in her neighborhood. Their favourit playground was an old spook-house. It was a fantastic place, where they could live through all their childhood fantasies. It was allmost like they could do everything they wanted to there, like it was not out of this world. There they could even replicate most of Mr. Usagi´s small tricks, when Alice described them to the others. They had to keep it secret, though, or else they would be forbidden to go there again. Not that anyone would believe a six year olds storys of moving walls and endless rooms, but the adults would simply say the place was too dangerous, without further explanation or discussion.
When Alice was was 9, she told her father about the spook-house, trusting that he would not react like the other adults, and keep the secrert. He did not act any different then any adult would however. In fact he was really upset, when Alice told him, that they had replicated his tricks there, after she had told the other kids about it. She was forbidden to ever go there again. When she did so anyway the next day, she was witness to the places 'clean-up'. A large orange van apeared and men in orange plastic suites with gas-masks and large spray-containers came with it. They cordoned off the spook-house and 'sterelized' it. One week later, it was replaced by a parking lot, the fantasy was over.
In 1992, NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. took over the mobile communications business of NTT. This evolvement made Alice´s dad fear for his job and he started to take precautions for this event. He told Alice, that in reality, he was an under-cover agent and that other agents might come and look for him, that they might take him away from her. He said he was a 'cleaner' who´s job it was to find places like the spook-house and fix what was wrong with them, but he had played a double-game, ever since he had meat Alice´s mother. He told her about secret places and shady people, he even introduced her to one of his most powerfull business associates, the Frenchman. He tought her, how she would be abled to escape the other agents, so she could reach her secret place. She was instructed to go to Aunty or Unclo, if he ever vanished without a trace, or contact the Frenchman if she could not get to them.
The day before they came, he told her about the woman, that wold come to take care of her, if he was taken away from her. Then they came, on the 13th of July 1993, men with helmets, armored vests and guns came into their flat. Mr. Usagi killed many of them, moving as fast as lightning and confusing them with his tricks, they didn´t stand a chance. But then came the others, the men with the business suites and the shades, the Agents. Alice hid in her secret place, using the key, that would open any door to lead to the small chamber, but she couldn´t shut the door. She would never forget the terrible sound, when they 'jumped into' her birthday guests. They moved almost as fast as her fater, everything was a blure of motion. Mr. Usagi killed two of them, only leaving the lifeless bodies of Alice´s friends behind. But the Agents came back, distorting other childrens frames, to reenter the scene. Finally, her father was overwhelmed by the superior numbers and smashed to pulp under their bluring fists. And then there was silence. Steps on cracking on the glass-splinters covering the floor. Then Alice could see a foot. When the man kneeled down and turned around, Idoru froze in shock. The Agent gazed at her through the almost closed door. Taking away his shades, an evil smile apeared on his face and he talked with his cutting voice. "Hallo Alice, I am Agent Smith." She smashed the door shut.
She didn´t know how long she had cowered in her secret place. It might have been minutes, it might have been hours, it might have been days or even a week. When she crawled out of her place, she did not use the key to get back to the flat, but climbed out of the storage cell, just like her father had instructed her. She took the key to Aunty, but found the apartment empty. She used the key to the Uncle, but his workshop was gone, as well. So she contacted the Frenchman and through him, she got in touch with the woman.

Yue had talked to her at length, before bringing her to the others. It was quiet a surprise, that she had been the one, who had drawn Idoru out of the frozen Sumida. Even more so, that she had also rescued Idoru´s mother. Her mother had lived! But the joy only held true for a moment. While Idoru´s mother had lived for years, working with Yue and her crew, she had died just 6 months ago. They talked for hours, the young asian woman giving the girl as much time, to sattle down her feelings a bit, as possible, before making the next step. Idoru had many questions and to Yue´s surprise, the little girl already understood very much about The Matrix. When Thadeus offered her the red pill, Idoru did not hasitate for a second.
The Monks had been right ... kind of. She comprehended now what her father The Sweeper had been, he knew what Aunty, Uncle and the Frenchman where, she could guess what all the secret places and shady people where and she understood what Agents where. Now she knew, that the spook-house wasn´t only a childs fantasy. Now she knew, what she had seen, when she was drowning in the icy waters, what she had lived through so many nights. Not dreaming, but waking up from the dream.
Idoru spent some time in Zion, but she never fealt at home there. It was not that she wouldn´t find new friends, but she missed her old ones. She missed The Oracle, she missed the Key-Maker and she even missed The Merovingian. The most among all people still there -somewhere- however, she missed Yue. She could barely stand it, when she was gone with the Osiris, to wait untill she returned, just to hear what little news she could relay from the others and then say fare well again after only seeing her for a few days. But Idoru had learned to get along by herself early on. No matter in which reality, her methods worked.
When she was 12, she sneaked on board the Osiris the first time. Thadeus was mad at first, he wouldn´t alow her to jack in or even use the construct and when they returned to Zion, he made shure, that she wouldn´t get on board again ... or so he thought. some months later, she made it on to the ship again and again she would not even see the bridge. After the 5th time, Thadeus had to recognize Idoru´s ability to handle people and decided, that she deserved to at least get some action in the construct. It was not before another year had passed, while Idoru was with the Osiris on every other trip or so, that The Oracle send news, that she wanted to see Idoru again.
Seeing The Oracle again, Idoru got a warm wellcome and was even more determined to see those who mattered most to her more often. After that, she did what she could, to become an official member of a ships crew. She was much too young, but given the right makeup, she was used to pass as old enough. She got Yue and Thadeus to bend the truth for her and finally got accepted one year ago. Sadly there was no free position on the ZMS Osiris, but Idoru was hired as a Soldier for the ZMS Caleb.
With regular visites to the Matrix, Idoru refreshed her old friendships and and honed her skills in talking and fighting. However she did lose contact to the Osiris´ people a bit, even to Yue. When the ZMS Caleb was destroyed lately, she was transfered to the ZMS Sepulcher like the rest of the crew.

Residual Self Image:
Idoru is a cute japanese girl, though her age is a bit hard to guess. Depending on styling, cloths and demanor, she might get people to belive she is as young as 12 or as old as 20. Her hair is fairly long and most often tied into pony-tails. Her outfit depents much on the mission at hand, but she favors a cute school-girl-look compleat with unifrom, diddle-mouse back-pack, hallo-kitty lunch-box and pink accessoires.
