I read the homonculus rules, and the plasteel one is awesomer, even though it has more Object Resistance. I was wondering if an orichalcum one would be even more awesome, and how much orichalcum it would take.

i personally don't think it would be terribly good. we don't really have any information on the physical "attributes" of orichalchum, but i rather doubt the various metals add up to something as strong as plasteel is.
certainly, it would be so obscenely expensive as to not be worth it, no matter how rich you are (if you had that much orichalchum, you'd be better off using it for any number of other things). |

Back in the old SR2 days we had a physical adept get his bones laced with the stuff. By all accounts its not much stronger than gold or pure copper (Both are very soft metals) but when you are your own weapon foci who cares?

The ultimate use of orichalcum is jewelry.
Nonmagical, non-foci, non-whatever jewelry. The fact that you can waste money on an obscenely rare and expensive substance on a mere necklace or circlet or decorative automatically makes you win the game. |

Already done. Engraved orichalcum ring on one PC's right ring finger, set with a diamond. Because you're right. It sends a message. The message is "I am better than you, and have more disposable income." With the subtle under-message of, "If I am a mage... and I am... what does this object mean I could do to you?" |

Kinda like buying a Lambourghini Countache and painting it Neon Lime Green.
2 Not so subtle messages being sent, 1: I can afford a car like this. B: I have so much money, I don't have to take a car like this seriously. |

Nikoli is exactly where I'm coming from. And so is Adarael. THAT is the kind of awesome I like.
If I could get one and if I could get good mileage on one, I'd buy a hearse, paint it purple, and give it a green felt interior. Possibly hydraulics. Also, my dream Post-Apocalypse vehicle is an El Camino with a .50 cal machinegun mounted in the back. And I like how the Scion xB looks. I have no freaking taste whatsoever. |

Yes, the base price is one million Euros. |

I want a black one (a miller meteor of course) with lime green flames, matching green velour interior, and hydralics with 18" 100 spoke daytons in chrome. Oooh and a really cool floating grille! I'd cruise around all day using my obnoxiously expense sound system to play my "death rock all day" playlist for all to enjoy. More people need to be exposed to the joy of the early 80's deathrock and batcave scenes after all... Ok I'm done dreaming, I can barely afford a scion XB. |

What about a diamond homonculus? That shit can be made artificially, and it's really hard. I'd imagine it would be much stronger than the plasteel one.

Titanium, maybe, but good luck shaping that in your local machine shop. And it should probably only give you maybe an extra couple of points of body and armor, maybe one of strength, and nothing for fist damage. Not worth the hassle.
I'm wondering why the plasteel Agility and Reaction are F-1 while for stone golems its F-3 and F, respectively. The agility makes sense on both, but a hinged stone statue reacts faster than a steel skeleton? I doubt it. |

That may be due to their respective weights. I could be wrong, but iirc steel is denser and heavier than stone. |

Good call. The same force homonculi of different materials can actually mass the same, but maybe they thought denser materials of the same weight should react more slowly; the improved agility would have more to do with the articulation fo the hinges, which would presumably be better designed and more efficient on a custom designed skeleton than retrofitted on some clumsy stone. |

The bad part of a plasteel homonculus is if an opponent gets their hands on some of that plasteel dissolving spray. Spray that thing with a bottle of that and then just watch it ooze around :D hehe
How about a homonculus made out of gelatin? Just make it cube shaped and hope no-one throws a fireball at it :D I would personally take one of these babies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Lorean_DMC-12 and soup it up with a Porsche engine, nice 20-inch tires, an eardrum bursting sound system (cranking out all those great 80's songs), remote-controlled doors and probably some other crazy-ass improvements that would make me the envy of all nerds around :D HAHA! |
