No, because I am an idiot who was raised on Jupiter.

I only asked since you seemed to be suggesting that "of course" people would tend to date within their race/ethnicity, for reasons of "necessity of procreation".

I mean, it wouldn't be the first time I've met someone with faulty information on biology and science.

Possibly. I think most can agree that there are beautiful memebers of all races, but many (most?) of us find ourselves tending toward some more than others.

Last I heard, Indian women have won more world-wide beauty pageants than any other ethnicity.

The difference between a troll and a dwarf is a lot more than the difference between a Norwegian and an Australian Aboriginee.

I guess the point is that there seem to be two forces pulling toward reproduction- a biological attraction to certain features, and completely manufactured fashion trends. There's a balance somewhere between them. Both occur at the same time and neither wins.

SR3 explicitly stated that the metahuman races could all procreate with one another, though the practical problems with this (dwarves and trolls getting together, for example) were never addressed (which is probably for the best).

Hmmm... sounds like we need to have a new sourcebook, one covering sex in Srun. Nah, let's not, otherwise it'll be like that other book I've heard about made for the dnd system which I'll label as the book that shall not be metioned.

I know the solution: Male trolls offset their focus on size elsewhere in the body by being really tiny in two areas. One is the brain. The other uses the same blood supply.

Besides, it's not that good anyway.

Actually, I believe that's true of most animals. Larger creatures tend to have a smaller ratio going when it comes to these things.

You're right, and I knew this, but I conveniently forgot it while I made my last post. :(

I imagine this creates quite a dilema for some in the sixth world...

Seriously, none of the Shadowrun novels I've seen have metahumans in anything but a (usually forgettable) support role. The stars of the novels are always humans, for the most part. Elves get attention, at least, but what about orks and trolls? I loved the fiction at the start of SR3, narrated by the troll street sam who lost his good friend Flash on a botched run. I liked the ork in SR4 who just got out of prison and was re-introduced to the new, flashier matrix.

And while I'm on the subject, how come so many of the illustrations make them look like such retards? I mean, the Mercenary illustration from SR3 is cool, as are the Bounty Hunter and Enforcer from SR4, but half of the troll and ork pictures I see just look like a mass of boils and warts. And the art from the original SR book just made them look even worse. The description just says that Trolls have hard, bony deposits...that could mean anything from scale-like skin texture to, well, bony looking boils and warts. But orks are just described as being taller and heavier than humans...nothing saying they have to look like a burn ward got mashed together into one person. What gives?  :P

Changelling had the Profezzor (troll), Never Thrust an Elf had Kham (ork), Preying For Keeps and Headhunters had Duran (ork) and Elvis (troll), The Lucifer Deck had an ork girl (I think), etc... Those were great characters, specially Duran and Kham. I know I'm forgitten a lot more...

And the Gun Adept of SR4 has the Look Human Quality.

The only metatype I don't play is the dwarfs. I don't like Snow White and all that...

No, the Gungslinger Adept does not have the Human Looking quality. I have the more recent printing of the book, and I also checked the errata. Not in there. :)

Maybe the character sheet of the gun adept (ready for play) don't have it; but the ork on the picture shure does... :lick:

Did anyone mention the novel 'Never trust an Elf' that features Kahm the ork as main character? That must have sliped through the conspiracy´s fingers.

Nope.

It's not a new book by any shot, but Never Deal With an Elf had one of the best orks I've ever ready about in it. Karm (I know, I'm misspelling his name horribly), who was a friend of Dodger, Ghost-Who-Walks-Inside, and Sally Tsung. Might be worth picking up sometime if you don't have it.

And it's Kham the Ork.

Never trust an elf's main character is an ork. Also, the main character of "Changeling" is a troll.

Which one? There's more than one D&D oriented sex book. I havn't read any of the professionally published books, but the Carnal netbook has some good ideas.

Really, you have to love any book that presents rules for giving birth and requires a random Fetal Alcool Syndrome roll if the mother was a drinker.
