I called myself emo samurai because samurai are emo; they write poems called Jisei no Ku that are supposedly written right before their deaths, and a central conceit of samurai poetry is the evanescence of beauty and life. The thing is, though, people find the idea of an emo samurai funny, including me, so I'm called emo samurai.

What about you, friendly dumpshock people?

eidolon is one of my favorite words for ghost/spirit/apparition/etc. When I chose it, I didn't know there was a named free spirit in the SR world with the same moniker, but hey, it's cool, so I kept it.

Digging through here to find something else entirely, but this is amusing...

Sahandrian was my first SR character, an elf decker/face. That name in turn comes from D&D. "Sahandrian" is the name of the elf god's sword.

The character has changed his name at this point, and if I were making the account now I'd have used something else (though probably not his new name).

I also named myself after my first and only PC, a technomancer. I chose the name because I wanted to pick a name that marked her as a techie, but that was at least semi-unique. Because I tend to get obsessed with things, FanGirl seemed like the most obvious choice for both her and me.

Before Google, it may have been a challenge to discover the original source for the name I used for my first SR Character.

My first ever Shadowrunner was an ex-corporate wage-slave who worked in security. Since he spent so much time keeping people out of the system, he picked up the nickname 'Firewall'

Nezumi for Nezumi Hebereke. That means "Drunk Mouse" in Japanese, as a nod to my MUD character I hung on to for the longest time.

My favorite charcter from Abramic (christian, jewish and muslim) mythology. Also the LARP character I lost days before signing up here. Just think about the first line of my sig to work out where I feature in the bible.

DoG XinU was my first character (decker) and has a very special place in my heart. To a degree dog was based on me and my life at the time (no I wasnt a hacker but the rest is very similar). Plus there is not too many dog xinu's out here. :)

I am a DBA. I got tired of people asking, "What's a DBA?". One day I came up with this.

It is sometimes a job description, too.

I started using the nickname Mysterio like about 8 years ago when I first got the net at home. I needed a nick when trying a chat line and noticing a Spider-Man video game nearby and Mysterio was on the cover, so i used it and kept it since.

Yes he is the one with the fishbowl on his head

I started using my monicker way back in ~'98 when Starcraft came out. I actually kinda stole the spelling from an old and little known side-scroller for the SNES, I modified it a tad however. It's just kinda stuck since then albeit with variations.

Hrmmm.

Used to go by Pendragn (King Argthur buff in high school, back in the eight character username days)... on a New Warriors comic book mailing list they affectionately truncated it to Pen...

When my old hotmail was overcome by trash, I started over again... and decided to be PenAgain, because, well, I was rebuilding my internet persona from the ground up. Also because I tende dto end message board posts with a closing comment after my signature which led to me signing off (again)... get the idea?

Long story for a silly name.

X-Caliber 2097? I remember that one.

Me, I was a forum virgin when I registered here, so why not just use my name? :wobble:

Well, Dranem is my gaming alias that I used pretty much any game that I play. I've used it for nearly 5 years now, it's a variation on my last name, and I generally don't have trouble using it - due to it's uniqueness :)
