Let's start with a book quote ...

QUOTE (SR4-pg. 109)
The unmodified skill rating assigned at character creation or purchased during game play is considered to be the character’s base skill rating. Some abilities and implants (as noted) may increase this rating, creating a modified skill rating. A modified skill cannot exceed the base skill rating x 1.5 (making 9 the maximum possible rating, or 10 with the Aptitude quality). Specializations, spells, and other implants may provide bonus dice to a skill, but do not change the base skill rating. These extra dice are listed in parentheses after the base skill, as in Spellcasting 4 (+2).

Now my questions/comments in relation to the above quote ...

Retarded comments retracted!!!

The quote above apples to skills not attributes.

When dealing with attributes the augmented maximum is simiilar, but its the racial maxmimum x1.5 not the persons current stat. Exceptional Attribute can of course increase this.

A human can’t have a strength augmented over 9. But a human COULD have a natural strength of 4 and rating 4 muscle replacement and a superthyroid gland. (making it effectivly 9) but at this point increasing his natural strength would be pointless.

The qoute refers to cyberware/bioware ands spells that grant bonus to skills this is to prevent huge dice pools and characters depending on skill boosters over skills.

I'm a retard!!! It's alright, just extreme old age setting in.

Honestly, I read that Skills quote before going to bed, woke up with 'inspiration', and didn't even stop to see the obviously blatant error of my ways. I have no other defense.

So, in other words, Nothing to see here! Move along! :wavey:

The qoute refers to cyberware such as skill wires that give bonus to skills there designed for.

Actually, at the moment, that quote is only relevant to Reflex Enhancers and an Adept's Improved Ability Power. I don't recall anything else that specifically adds to the Skill level, as opposed to adding Dice. Even Skillwires aren't covered by it, and in fact directly break the rule, because they give you a Skill at a particular level, whether you possess that Skill beforehand or not.

Honestly, I knew all this crap! I don't know what happened to my brain for the past hour.

Actually, not quite true. I hadn't noticed, or I had forgotten that Tailored Pheros do NOT augment Charisma directly. That would imply that you can stack them even further with the Increase Charisma spell. An interesting tidbit to remember.

Umm I think there's a bioware bit Menoric Enchancers that give a bonus to all logic and language tests, not sure if its included.

In responce to directly above, that could become one CHARMING elf.

Mnemonic Enhancers grant a Dice Pool modifier, and do not directly add to the Skill rating.
