Cut back on the caffeine SL James. In what way does the Wachowskis' intentions negate anything knasser said? None at all.

Seriously, I can understand your point of view on the subject, but I'm in the other camp as far as it is concerned. I wouldn't have cared if they had turned Hamilton into a toxic waste dump, and had the Pickering nuclear plant meltdown cause a wave of refugees to flood into and totally destroy Ottawa, while creating a new Ghoul haven in the remains of the amusement park on Toronto Island, overseen by a leonized and shedim-ridden Wayne Gretzky. Anything! |

OK, I'll talk it over with the other freelancers, let's see if we can't get a shedim ridden Gretzky ruling that place. :P -Frank |

Halarious! But to bring this back around point. A Young Arthur is 5 years old right now when does Merlin come into play (and better yet WHO is Merlin)? I wonder if it is that one uber caster guy in Prime Runners. As far as excalibur having an ego... that would be cool if it took over pendragon. Knights of the round table... TIGHT! bring em back but none of that Gwen cheating on him crap... Keep Camelot Alive or at least for 20 or so years. Lancelot... well if the cheating did happen it would be between 2 imortal elves huh? any other speculation or comments about Synner's genious? |

 Ah! Someone who remembers H. and Ambrose. Everybody should know by now that I've got a penchant for not going for the obvious answer and dredging up obscure characters and references. Heck, I thought it was cool to bring Johnny Spinrad and Winternight back from oblivion! I'm also very much into threading real world, mythological and literary references through my writing (ie. dredging up Spinrad and Mina Beloit to show humans can take on Lofwyr, Winternight's interpretation of the Ragnarok mythos in System Failure, a nod at Umberto Eco's work in Loose Alliances, nods at some valuable influences as one-off shadowtalkers in SoA's India) so count on more of that. |

Well some of it only made sense. Who else could be Merlin? As far as Spinard is he still around? Obviouly the Loffy has to be onto him... unless he was dragonslayer hhhhhmmmm *ponders the possibility by tilting his head*

I'm going to have to reread everything. This is of course giving me idea's more my British campaign at the mo. I opened with a first run based around the NDM trying to attack some of the Oxford circle's support, good to see it's important. I wonder if "Arthur" has been fostered.
Hands up who thinks the writers should get together and give us a free "state of play" for the world? It's not like they're busy right ;). |

Sorry to dredge this back up, but I've been gone a few days.
The back of SoE metnions that dandy old elf from Balck madonna Hessler tagging along with the 'Pendragon'. He does have that spirit buddynamed Merlin. Pendragon dissapearing from plain sight also sounds like the fading power. Just throwing things out there. |

Hessler also appears in Prime Runners. What? People thought I'd waste valuable wordcount on a throw-away reference when I can set up something for a payoff down the line? :P fistandantilus should know better ;) |

I know, I was thinking about that just after i left work when I started the thread, just no chance to get back on it. I'd forgot about the Prime Runners statting. I was just thinking about Black Madonna (got it on my desk right on front of me. On pg 112, merlin is talking). Nice timing BTW Synner. :D

So we know who is hangin with the dragon. But where he came from is a big question. The island on the leyline, (I forget its name). Is there ant mention of the lady of the lake? That might be another free spirt or even the sea serpant (thought I would throw a dragon in too). Anyone have a heads up or a few clues on this?
Also do the Callanish have a role to play in this? I can see them trying to kidnapp and sacrifice a young Aurthur (who would be tied to the land of England). |

They sorta already tried that in the 50's. Secrets of Power trilogy book 2.
Hessler (called Zessler in Prime Runners fro some reasons) is a grade 8 initiate (as of PR at least), lives in Glastonbury. His ally is named Merlin. Looks like a young man, very curios. As of PR, Hessler was working on whether or not the Henge was a metaplanar portal or somesuch. Who knows, maybe he opened something and brought Lyonesse through. Who knows. Anyways, maybe he was supporting "the new king", maybe jsut waiting for somethign to happen. Incidentally, AH thinks he's a spike baby, at least, since last I asked him about it. |

:smokin: Here try some of mine it's chicago's finest *passes the joint* Anyways Ambrose? I know he had a few mentions in the posts but who the hell is he? Does anyone have a lead on "Ambrose"? Stone Henge as a metaplanar portal or somesuch? Thats an interesting idea. If thats true and stone henge is being used as a power site by other druids how is that connected? Or is it? |

But no real mention of that since Prime Runners...
As for Ambrose, IIRC, Virual Realities 2.0, a conversation between "The Laughing Man" and "Ambrose" discussing things like cybermancy and otaku. Try the Ancient Files |

Already looked @ what he had. A short mention but no confirmation. What about the Black Lodge? Would that be the new Arthurs enimes, the people who are going to try and take him down? There based in Scottland

Black Lodge is more against IE's and dragons. They're pretty strong in France as well.
With the LPO as an enemy, you don't really need a lot more anyways. :) It's never really confirmed who Ambrose is. Not yet anyways. |

I would say nah to this. The original Comic was produced way back in 1982-85. Far before this current Bush and his problems. People projected what they wanted on the movie. It was timely but I've seen a lot of works eerily similar to the present. The world doesn't revolve around Bush. If a movie about fascism, and loss of liberites vs. security, made you jump to thinking it was Bush bashing then that definately says something about the man, and the administration, eh? |

I am not an idiot. I know all about the original comic. I also know why Alan Moore disowned the movie, and it can be concisely put as the Wachowskis putting their own shit into his work. The tone of the movie and the comic are completely different.
And, btw, the comic is about fascism vs anarchy, not loss of liberty vs security. Storm Saxon, for example, is a non sequitur in the movie without the whole Norsefire background, which was completely excised from the movie to make a contemporary political statement. It's just a crap movie all around, but the fact that they gutted the comic like a fish deserves the most special scorn. |
