Shadowrun: The Jeremiah Legacy

Thursday 6 February 2070

Hong Kong. A Free enterprize Zone. A nation openly controlled by the megacorps. Home of Wuxing, Inc. And, as history will one day record, the birthplace of the Jeremiah Legacy.

For this campaign, we will need a team. 4 to 5 people of varied talents. Here are the guidelines and requirements.

400 BP. Starting out as runners, had a couple good runs. The first adventure will bring the team together for the first time by the fixer.

Standard options from SR4 and Street Magic, as well as contacts from Contacts and Adventures. No blood mages, no twisted or toxics, no insect shamans, no cyberzombies.

You can be from anywhere as long as there is a plausible explanation as to why you are staying in Hong Kong. Corporate, government, and criminal ties are acceptable. I need at least one character to be a local.

Don’t have to have a face, but it does help.

I am not using the free contacts rule. However, everybody knows the fixer, Dr. Delicious. Worse than a 1/1 Contact, better than nothing.

It would make life easier if you are familiar with Runner Havens section on Hong Kong, and I also recommend Shadows of Asia, but this is not a requirement.

And as for the name? It is a reference to the Book of Jeremiah in the Bible, and for now, that’s all I intend to reveal.

Some of them will be originals, some will be stolen borrowed from other sources, and a couple will be inspired by Shadowrun Missions.

I am probably forgetting something important so if you have any questions, PM me or post it. My job requires me to be online quite a bit so I should be able to answer/respond/flame in a reasonable amount of time.

edit: Oh man. I've got 8 people interested. It seems I need to do some culling as it is. Because of this, I have to turn away for now.

I have the beginnings of a mundane hunter/tracker type. Could possibly convert over to a city specialist. Char BG is from CAS outskirts of Atlanta. Kinda country-fried type. Not sure if this could possibly fit into your game but, I woulkd be interested. Reply with thoughts.

I'll take an Ork street shaman then of either the raven or wise warrior totem (whichever is most appropriate).

It may be a bit cliche, but I'll have you a martial artist (adept) by tomorrow. Please keep in mind I only have the BBB at my disposal right now.

#1. Do the runners have to worry about leaving behind dna, astral signatures, or electronic trails?
#2. How active will you be as the gm and how active do you expect your players to be?

I have a concept for a street sam, courier that I would like to put in the mix.

I have Runner Havens, but have not read up on HK yet, but that would be very easy to fix over the next week or so. Think I can get access to Shadows of Asia if I need to as well.

Will PM the basics soon.

Amra28: Like the idea. A local technomancer. Lots of fun with that idea.

Hunter5150: CAS is fine. Hong Kong is an international place. You might have better luck with a city specialist, but there are quite a few "un-urban" areas. In fact, it is giving me a couple ideas...

Alex: Nothing wrong with cliches. Run with it. And BBB is fine, though you will find some neat tools with Street Magic. But that's what Karma is for.

JDragon: Nice idea. Read the PM, love the concept you have. I'll contact you with questions as I think of them.

Redjack and Foxx: Both are good, but I am a little concerned. 2 mages in the same party? Still, it could be interesting.

Abbandon: To answer your questions,

1) It's only paranoia if you are wrong. Otherwise, it's caution. How concerned you need to be will depend on the run. The corps will not be hunting you from drops of sweat. You will not need to be too cautious, at least at first.

2) I intend to be as active as possible. Mostly in the evenings (my time) and early mornings (again, my time). I don't expect this game to be the most important thing in your life; it isn't in mine. But as long as things are progressing reasonably, there should not be any problems.

I was thinking of the Buddhist mage that I have been working on, but it appears that you already have the two awakened that you want. If he is ok, then I already have him ready, just needs a few tweaks for Hong Kong. If not, I can come up with something else...probably a ninja-esque infiltration type. Tell me which one you want.

If there's still space, I've an idea for a duelist type weapons expert (pistols & swords, mostly) kicking around.

I'll get working on it today and PM you what I've got by tonight.

Edit:

Having sat thinking about possible backgrounds, a mercenary seems a bit more plausible...so the concept's altered a little more towards bigger guns, but he's still a weapons expert.

8 people are interested, and I have to be fair to myself. I'd love to run all 8 that responded so far, but then it changes from Shadowrun to Armyrun.

But I gotta be fair in general. So here is my decision.

Amra28, HUnter5150, JDragon, Redjack, Foxx, and Alex have priority. They get me characters by 7am on Tuesday (Pacific Standard Time), they're in. After that, their slots get opened up for Abbandon, Trigger, and d'Ark in that order.

6 may still be too many, but I like all 6 concepts.

Few ?'s for character creation.....

For those of us that are not from HK, will it be assumed that we were able to smuggle in gear (weapons) or have purchased them in HK since we have been in town as long as they meet the Availbility requirement?

Will it be reasonable to have a car in HK? I still need to read the book but wanted to make sure I wasn't spending $$ on stuff I would not have there.

Thanks

JDragon: Fair assumption. Yes, we can assume that if you are imported, that you smuggled your available equipment. Keep in mind that as a Free Enterprise Zone, it is a little easier to smuggle things into Hong Kong than other places ... within reason.

And yes, it would be reasonable to have a personal vehicle.

Hunter5150: Excel sheets work fine. My e-mail is on my profile, or you can PM me the sheet, I think.

QUOTE (Foxx)
whats Dr. Delicious contact and loyalty ratings? 1/1?

Originally, Dr. Delicious was somewhere between 1/1 and nothing. However, my dice don't roll half-numbers, so I am going to assume that nobody else's does either. So, Dr. Delicious will be a 1/1 fixer. If you want to make him better for you, you can spend some BP's, but the initial 1/1 is free.

Abbandon: You want to use either Cantonese - the official language of Hong Kong, or English, the language that everybody speaks.

Not initially, but if there could be a good reason for a couple of you to know each other - or of each other - go ahead and work it out and throw it past me.

However, this is your first run as a team as a whole.

And now, an update:

So far, I have a street sam, a physical adept, and a shaman. Still have room for a face and a hacker/technomancer. Please, no more Awakened characters.

Going through the characters now.

Thank you for your overwhelming response and for the easily tracked IP addresses.

I'm going through everything now, but it seems that we still need a hacker/technomancer guy. Not an absolute must; I can invent one if need be, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.
