Does a technomancer need a Control Rig to operate vehicles and drones? I would assume they don't, and that they just wouldn't get the benfit of the +2 dice pool bones on all vehicle checks. Is my understanding correct?

No one needs a control rig to control a drone.

This is a correct statement for anybody. SR4 no longer requires a VCR... The Control Rig gives bonus dice to anyone using it, but is not required. |

They still might want to get one for the +2 dice roll bonus, despite the loss of resonance.
A control rig, a datajack (might as well allow access to hard wired systems) and .4 essence worth of bioware. Hell a technomancer could make an excellent rigger. Everyone tries to make the technomancer duplicate a hacker but why not go the rigger way. |

hmm, true. and with a couple of machine sprites in place, those drones could be almost life like ;)
maybe those TM's are a reply to the request for rigger adepts? oh wait, one can be a true rigger adept these days... and now that i think about it, on almost all images of TM's they are presented with a drone or more close by... |

Actually Alice tended to be more of a drone rigger, though also covers the hacking aspects. TM can make very impressive riggers. Especially depending on how generous your GM is with:
A friendly machine sprite running diagnostics giving bonus dice to any use of that device.... one would presume drones are a device :-) |

command CF boosted to ludicrous amounts FTW!
(throw in codeslinger(control device) for good measure, if you're feeling like extra cheese). |

do i need to post the cheese-0-matic 400 technomantic vehicle control specialist again? (technically not a rigger, but better in every way imo... see the previous post for the basic concept) |
