ok, no sign of Riggthis. That sucks, but hopefully he'll get something in on the 11th hour.
Posting format: Open each post with the name/date/time stamp to keep everything in context Posting color code- Regualr text is in the standard. Just writing waling around the room and such, nothing different. Speech text is in salmon Inner monologue is in aquamarine Telepathic or any other sort of mental communication, such as with spirits, is aqua text, such as commlink text messages is in red dice rolls or game actions are in gold The occasional hand written missive is in purple for dice actions, use spoiler tags or gold text. Write out were your dice come from first, and then the rolls ,then the results. I'm fine with rolling your own dice, or a dice roller prog if you really want. Ex: Fire a shot Agility 4+ Pistols 3 + smartlink 2 + 2(S)Semi-automatics - 4 cover = 7 dice 5,1,3,5,6,4,2 = 3 net successes Any thing generally along those lines works for me. I rpoefer rolls posted in the IC so that they are easier to line up with actions. Use the OOC for questions, or general chit chat amongst players. Questions? |

Alright Trigger, you're next in line. Unfortuantely RiggThis wasn't able to get in to this game ,so if you can get a char up ASAP, you're in. Looking like we could use a second mage type. |

Hey I found a little time, enough to post for the game. As a aside, I can't read the red, can we forgo coloring spoken text? Or can we use a different color?

Sure.. I don't like the red on this background either..
BTW. Nix is male elf and I'm not sure where you came up with the dialog you posted for Nix, but that's not what he said.... |

Sorry I got confused between Nix and the gender of the johnson, Virginia. Sorry about that.
I extrapulated a conversation based on what was said so far. Instead of trying to have a IC conversation that could take a week. The short of is that Gunny will go there early and scout the place out. |

See above color coding please. I hate the red too, and always high light it. Considering using something else for text message colors, but there aren't a lot of colors that are easy to read against the back drop. |

Take a look at my sig. I worked out a great combo of colors that's used in about half a dozen games on Dumpshock. All are pretty visible on the backdrop color as well..
No offense, but I'd much rather you summarize the conversation that assume what my characters would say. ergo: I had already established that my character spoke in metaphors and code over coms when talking about work and you had him speak clearly. So ka? ;)
Welcome aboard Trigger! |

I don't mind using the Purple and black for coms and text respectivley. We'll stick with the rest of the colors as out lined. As for the comm chatter it makes sense for a team, but it does also make sense that since you guys aren't quite firmly established, you'd goof occassionally. Not really fully used to each other yet, which was my intent. So just roll with it, and work it in to the roleplaying. In other words, scold him IC. ;) As with other games, I award extra karma for good roleplaying and ideas, so remember that. Also, read the house rules I haave posted under the In WIth The Family OOC thread. Nothing big really, but Common Sense Points will come up. |

Just FYI, I'm giving a bit of time to let Trigger get his character up. SinN should be posting Tuesday, and Shadow said he would be back regualrly then, so we should get things rolling along nice and regular like then.

@Fist - "Eyes" still known just as well as all the other characters?
Hey, here's an easy way to catalog the doublespeak, and probably a brief summary of what we'd have time to work out: 1. Person who picks up gives a generic hello with a question at the end: No matter what the question or the answer is, it's BS. An affirmative means it's a business call, a negative means it's a social call (or a call to arrange a non-business meet.) 2. Person who picks up gives a generic hello with no question: Means not a good time to call, I'll call you back. 3. Anything about time and location to meet: The location part is BS, it'll be the location of a standard meeting spot. Any time given is 1 hour and 30 minutes later than the actual time. (e.g.: I tell you I'll meet you at 1:45, meet me at 3:15) 4. Any excuse to break the call early (wataminnit, this dude just flipped me off; got a call on the other line, etc.) - Rendezvous in a half hour on an encrypted matrix server. 5. Random hang up - Something's really wrong. Drop comms and cover your ass. Don't give real names, times, or locations on a phone call. Ever. If you can't figger out what other people are saying, RP it; that's the problem with generic codes and ciphers. |

Listen guys, I appreciate your zeal for comsec but this is getting a little out of hand. Perhaps you can post with your double speak code and then post in parenthisis what you are actually saying. I don't have alot of posting time to have some sort of codespeak that I have to figure out each time I post.

haha... I'm fine with that, as long as you put it in spoilers. I admit that I'm one of the people that usually has a dumb looks on hsi face when people do that in game as well. :D

Oh, and an important reason for double speak: Even today cellphone calls are considered public domain. They can be monitored freely with very little paper work, or asking of permission.

In game terms though commlinks are incredibly hard to crack, decrypt, and monitor. And it is very easy to make sure your's isn't.

@Fist - data search (0) + browse (3) + (if you allow it) seattle mapsoft (6) = 3d6 or 9d6 = 6,2,4 +/OR 4,6,4,2,4,5 = 1 or 3 successes. Don't much care about a floor plan, just entrances and exits, external stuff. Take the floor plan if I get it, but not a big worry.
@Shadow: Redjack and I did explain what we were saying, in every post, right after the line. The list (5 posts above) was meant to make it easier. 1-3 on it were explained in the IC posts. 4 and 5 I just made up, but ain't that hard. As I get from fist its fine to RP misunderstanding. cheers rob |

pg 220 DataSearch+ Browse. I'll give you a +2 modifier for having the mapsoft.

@Fist: Alright, then goal for the question is something easy, like external building layouts and stuff. If I'm rolling 5 dice then the first 5 rolls should meet a threshold of 2.
Other rolls, just in case: [ Spoiler ]

Actually no, they're not. You best bet is to load them up with real nasty IC for when it gets compromised.. A really high firewall can at least let you know when its compromised. |
