@ Redjack - Good to know. I'll probably bump forward tonight, since we seemed to have reached that point already.
@ Djinni - You only have to roll for availability when the GM doesn't care one way or the other ;) In the future, toss the social rolls before, and I can let you know who's available or whether it's voicemail. |

I will be offline for the next 48 hours as I fly out to Dallas for work. Expect posts from me on Tuesday.
Fenris--Feel free to puppet me along to keep the thread kicking at its high octane rate. |

Yeah, we wouldn't want our breakneck pace to falter.
EDIT TO ADD: Oh, Kinesics! You make this sort of thing so fun. Having "complete control over your body's nonverbal and subconscious communication and social cues" is so handy. |

As a player, I've no problems with it. ;)
I was just posting the thoughts I figured the player would have since he's big on the physical mask at the meet thing. Actually, the two characters make a pretty good dichotomy. In style, appearance, tactics, etc. |

As I'm not terribly experienced with DS games, or with SR4, or with Fenris' GMing style (as different GMs handle social skills differently), I'm not sure at what point I should start flinging around handfuls of social dice. So just gimme a holler whenever you think that sort of stuff is called for, boss.

@ Critias - To explain things, I allow three basic methods of dealing with social situations, its up to you which one you use:
1. Straight RP - Based purely on the dialog and body language as written. I'll evaluate what you're saying from the position of the NPC, and respond appropriately. I'll do my best to take in mentioned or assumed body language, appearance, etc. 2. Straight Rolls - We both roll some dice with standard modifiers, one of us wins, and the results are converted into IC. 3. Mixed bag - We dialog, and I add or subtract dice to various social rolls based on what's being said in addition to the standard modifiers, and we roll dice with the modifications. Keep in mind that because of the format, I'm going to be using exactly what you say. So if you accidentally make a comment that is inaccurate or inappropriate, I'll take that into account. |

Generally speaking, I'm a huge fan of Mixed Bag, myself. It lets the role players do their thing and still get a bit of a benefit for it, without necessarily ignoring stats/skills completely.
So just gimme a holler whenever it's time to start flingin' dice around, and lemme know any modifiers that're applicable. :) I returned your PM, btw. |

Got your reply to my PM, thanks.
Mixed bag it is! Feel free to fling dice anytime you're trying to produce a specific result. Could be anything from 'Putting Johnson at Ease' to 'Convincing Johnson that the Job is More Dangerous'. |

Ok. Not sure if I got the hang of Invisible Castle yet. I'll have to play with that more.
Anyway, if I'm correct I believe Vertigo took one box of drain on that spell casting. |

Post's up. Just continuing the "make Mr Johnson feel at home and in control" sort of thing, for the moment, and asking the first few I'm-not-really-a-specialist-at-this questions to pop into his head (to keep up the facade of being a curious and interested businessman-type). Stiff-spined, straight-laced, talking like the folks on the daytime wageslave soap operas do, all that good stuff. ;)

BishopMcQ - The Johnson has a commlink tucked in an inside pocket.
Djinni - I appreciate the thought, but I'd rather only have posts that are relevant in the IC thread. I don't mind in OCC, but for readability, I'd rather you didn't post just to keep us on page one. ;D If you don't like have to sift to a second page, you can always subscribe to the list and then use My Assistant to pull up a list of just your subscribed threads. This way it doesn't matter what page it's on. @ All - My apologies on the infrequency of my posts this week. I had three unexpected doctor's appointments and a meeting with our adoption worker, in addition to all the normal family stuff, so I've been busier then usual. No excuse, obviously, but I wanted to explain myself a bit. In the future, I'll let you know if it's going to be a light week, and / or find someone to GM in my place for the week. @ Critias - Can you give me a Willpower + Charisma roll please? (Opposing a Judge Intentions) |

http://www.shadowland.org/Shadowland/904/o...s/page1550.html <--- die roll #8, as requested.
And don't sweat it, real life comes first, Fenris. We're all just enjoying ourselves and eager for things to keep moving (or, at any rate, I know *I* am). As for a few more die rolls -- I genuinely have no idea exactly what would be appropriate for this, but I'm trying to get a look at Widget and see how she's feeling about cobbling together a fake commlink with nothing but an external description. Reading people's posture, expressions, etc, is supposed to be pretty handy, so I figure I'll give it a shot to get a look at her without Johnson knowing. I don't want him to realize Billy's not sure if they can handle the job or not, after all. ;) Also, what would be the right roll to (if a roll is needed at all) get him to spill the beans a little early about who they're crossing? I'm just having trouble pinning down exactly what skill would be right to pressure him for a little more information...since it's information he's planning on giving us soon anyways, etc, etc (but Billy'd like to know before they shake hands and seal the deal, so to speak). Just lemme know what sounds right for either of these rolls, and I'll get 'em posted later tonight. |

@ Critias - I definitely want to keep things moving myself. Too many threads die that way.
@ All - As a general timeline layout, negotiating with the Johnson should be done by the end of this week. The next week will be given over to legwork, with the actual run starting on the bump on July 16th. |

@ Critias - Somehow I managed to miss the last two paragraphs of your post.
Glancing at Widget in the reflection seems fine ;) As for pressuring the Johnson, his initial answer is given. If you want to get him to provide more information, here's the breakdown: It will be opposed Negotiation + Charisma rolls. Modifiers are: Characters desired result is harmful to NPC (-3 to player dice pool) For a total of -3 to your dice pool. Roll away, and we'll see if you can pressure him to give it up ;) |

For the record, any mages in the party that forgot to put up counterspelling are summarily fired at this point. Now on with the run and I apologize for shooting friendly targets. :D

Ah well, I won't worry about getting a name just yet (the secret of who we're stealing from is temporary, more nuyen is forever), and will instead work on price a bit.
http://www.shadowland.org/Shadowland/904/o...s/page1550.html <-- link again, dice roll number 9 (4 hits, Cha + Neg) And a post is on the way. |

Personally, I'm just terrified of yet another game fizzling and dying on me. This would make, like, number six or so with Billy where all I've gotten to do is the social stuff (which really ISN'T where most of his BPs are). I still have no idea if I managed to make a "well rounded" SR4 character or just an "idiot that's not really good at anything" SR4 character.
I'm determined for ONE freakin' game to get to some meaty actiony bullets-and-fists-flying stuff, so I can at least try out the rules. ;) |
