This is the OOC thread, all the dice rolls, game discussion, etc goes here.
I'll basically be posting here a general idea of what I want to cover each week. When I bump forward on Monday's, I'll be bumping to finish up whatever the theme of the week was.
June 18th - June 24th
Introduction to each other and Lucky, character descriptions, IC questions about the job, IC decisions to accept or turn down.
Feel free to post any questions you have about the character, his background, the club, the job, etc.

Just for clarity's sake -- I'd put in my intro post that this was a second hand favor being called in, thanks to Billy's superior in the Octagon (Mushu Jiang). Maybe Lucky'd done a job for the Octagon and accepted a minor favor in lieu of payment, maybe it was something similar a generation earlier (with his dad having done a favor for Jiang, and the debt having been handed down)... However you'd like to flesh it out, what it boils down to is Billy getting sent to go do the job, because a Red Pole sees no reason to get his own hands dirty if he can send one of the kids to do the work for him instead.
Also, is there somewhere we should be posting specifically what stuff we have on us at the time, and that sort of thing (in case the poop hits the fan early on)? I don't wanna just spam the joint up with proclamations of carried gear if it's supposed to be somewhere else or handled via PMs or whatnot.

Fenris - sent you a 2 PM's regarding Vertigo's attributes and back story.
Also a few general questions:
1.) Should we avoid reading the Full Moon threads in case of spoilers?
2.) Any preference about signatures (on/off) in the IC thread?
Everyone - just as a general note: I have been playing SR for years, but I am new to the forth edition (haven't been able to find anyone in my area to play with). One of my goals in this game is to learn the system better, so if you notice any errors in my OOC post (game mechanics, etc) please let me know. I will appreciate the feedback!!

Method's post reminds me -- ditto, here. I have no idea if I made a decent, or laughable, or munchkinned up (or somewhere in between) SR4 character. I'm an SR3 guy, know it backwards and forwards and you name it (after playing both SR and SR2, mind you), but I've really never had a chance to roll my sleeves up and play any SR4.
I've been in about five aborted on-line games with Billy, and I think a whopping ONE of them involved any dice rolling at all...so I'm here to get a little practical experience with the game just as much as I'm here to tell a cool story. My apologies in advance if I wind up getting us all killed by thinking in terms of the wrong edition.

Critias - I'm not too worried about the specifics unless it's something crazy.
"Of course I had my LMG, I totally coulda slipped it by the guys at the door of the fancy French restaurant." - That sort of thing. If it's relatively small and concealable, don't care. I hate to require gear posts every scene change, and it's awkward trying to fit exactly what you're carrying into an IC post without making it sound like a gear list. I don't care which commlink you brought or how many stim patches.
If you're packing rocket launchers, full body armor, or something similarly obvious and bulky, something needs to be mentioned, just so I know how to react with NPC's.
And I actually got the exact idea you were trying to get across. I'm fine with leaving it vague for the moment. I have an idea of what the favor is for, but you don't, so it'll help for better roleplaying until it comes up in game, if it does.
Method - I don't mind if you read them both, I don't think there will be alot of obvious cross-contamination for the most part of the thread. You're not like, working directly against that team or anything.
And please no sigs in the IC thread, sort of breaks up the reading.
Redjack - I don't mind if you post the resistance rolls, I trust my players unless given a reason not to. And it does speed things up

I found that its really hard to build a mystic adept in SR4 that isn't incredibly specialized!! But then I guess that was true in all the previous editions too.

@Fenris:
what are the chairs and table made out of?
also had an afterthought, is the music AR or real?
Fenris
Jun 19 2007, 03:39 PM
@Djinni - Chairs and tables are mostly human sized, but reinforced due to all of the "odd" customers. Easily support troll weight.
The music is a combination. There is an audio and visual component that is real, but there are also visual components in AR, and if you have are connected to your commlink via a chipjack or trodes, there are extra audio/tactile/olfactory/visual components as well.
djinni
Jun 19 2007, 03:48 PM
easily support troll weight cool...but even big trolls don't weigh as much as me. lets just hope it holds, and Atlas doesn't lean back in the chair ~.^
since my commlink fizzled out mysteriously I just wanted to make sure he could hear the music. sadly he doesn't get to look in the mirrors to see if he would look different or normal...
[ Spoiler ]
Atlas is a Massive Hulking beast of a troll, with spiral horns that look and feel like they are stone curled around like a dragon's, protruding out a little ways and then curling forward pointing the dangerous end in the right place, that is of course if he didn't shave them off so he could wear a battle helmet. now they just appear to be marble patches on his head, the dermal calcium deposits every troll has are equally as hard as his horns. Asymmetrically formed on his body producing hard knots and lumps, easily felt to the touch, but they rarely pierce the skin. His muscles are toned and athletic akin to greek and roman artists redition of an adonis instead of the more common samoan look individuals of his size normally possess, the most noticable feature is the lack of an oversized adbominal section. One hand is large enough to grasp a normal person around the head and hold them securely. Which comes in handy for his hobby of dwarfball blitzer. His features are akin to the early European culture, although there are a few differences the similarities refute any claim by the authorities on history that he did not originate from that continent. Characteristic of that culture he has a high forehead, high cheekbones, strong chin with prominent cleft, and even a prominent gap between the two front teeth, enlarged tusks (even for a troll) predominantly a kurgan descendant trait. A unique feature among the historical artifacts of his culture is the Double Dentition (two rows of teeth one behind the other) which is indicative of the legendary giants heard about in myth and legend, further proof of his heritage shows in the extra finger on each hand, and extra toe on each foot, for a total of 6 digits per hand and foot, 24 in total. Horns are common to trolls and since he didn't goblinize at puberty it is unknown if he would have shared the horns trait with the myth, or if he simply has them from being a troll. However he does have a need for action and in less civilized areas this need would materialize as violence, however since he gets to hunt wild and dangerous creatures he has found a healthy release for his pent up emotional flood.

Descpription:
[ Spoiler ]
Vertigo is an atractive human female of hispanic descent in her mid-20s. She is small (5' 2'' 110) in stature with an athletic build. She usually has brown skin and eyes and shoulder length black hair, but currently she is sporting neon blue hair and matching irredecent eyes. She wears a trendy top and tight leather pants, both black, that aren't all that unusual in this setting. She also wears a black leather jacket and antique-looking silver broach.
Critias
Jun 19 2007, 05:50 PM
Ditto.
[ Spoiler ]
Billy's only a little taller than your average elf, but his suit is tailored loose enough that it hangs off him and, combined with his height, makes him seem much taller (or at least thinner) than he actually is. Outside of it (rrwowr!) he's certainly very fit, but the rumpled, oversized, layers of clothing give the illusion of a lankier-than-normal build. The collar is perpetually askew, his tie only half-heartedly tied and with the knot dangling a good inch or two below where it should be. His sleeves are almost always rolled up (particularly in the heat of a club), and if he has any tattoos they're not visible on his forearms at least. His hair is black (often, though not tonight, dyed a different color), and is swept back from his face and supposed to be slicked back, but often turns spiky instead. His features show him to be at least half Chinese, and are every bit as sharp, fine, and handsome as any other elf you're likely to see off a tridscreen.
His posture, unlike the cut of his suit, downplays his size; his shoulders are slumped whenever he's not fighting, his hands jammed into pockets and his back slouching. He's often leaning against any surface clean enough, sprawling out in whatever chair he's in, and generally just looking very casual and maybe even lazy, often even just a hair away from tripping over his own two feet... His voice is, while generally polite, often hiding just a hint of a sardonic drawl to it, an air of casual disinterest. Whatever he's talking about, and whoever he's talking to, is nothing but a moment's entertainment -- he stopped caring about the game a long time ago, and now he's just spinning his wheels and passing the time.

Description for
Ammon[ Spoiler ]
Ammon is an elf that stands six foot tall and weighs in at 150# and built like a typical wiry elf. His hair is medium shade of brown and his skin betrays a strong anglo heritage.
He shows up to the first meet wearing a very trendy pair of slacks, a white collarless shirt and a sport jacket, carrying his armor jacket.
During a run, he does not carry a gun and always wears fashionable clothes that tend to instantly change during the run to fit the situation. He is extroverted, though not pushy and usually maintains a good disposition.

ya go to
Tha dice rolly thingand roll them bones!
since we are a group you shouldn't have to roll dice against us, so I'll just go ahead and attempt my hand at describing in an astral perception what you'd get...hrm...where to begin...
if you get one hit here's the info
[ Spoiler ]
the big guy across the table looks a bit different in astral than he does in the mundane, sprouting from his head are spiral horns that twist and dip to point forward, his skin is erupted in what looks to be painful bone spikes if he had then in the mundane, his aura you'd guess looks more like he would naturally without surgery to make him more...well...pretty...the aura looks more demon like than his cheerful outward expressions, firey eyes and bestial fangs, he's not angry, but he is. its a flood of strong emotions held at bay by some intangible thought you can't see. it feels like rage, illogical and primal. he's not sick physically anyway come on a guy his size probably can't even get drunk, and he's a whole lot more physically fit than any other troll you've checked out.
that's all on one hit...now check out this if you got 2 hits...
[ Spoiler ]
He's got cyber but you aren't sure exactly where, it seems like all over, bones..muscles...nerves...he's got alot of alterations could it be mostly from surgery or is he really packing that much modification to himself.
the above is all on two hits...now it gets interesting...
[ Spoiler ]
he suffering from a disorder almost exclusively seen in primative areas with no medical advancement, Agromeglia, the basis for the legends of giants beore the 6th age. side effects are predominantly their own disorders but are found among sufferers, Double dentition which gives additional rise to dental problems due to the addition of a second row of teeth just inside the first set, a genetic trait that is found among some sufferes of hexdactyl disorder which as he's already shown...he is, also he has Chronic headaches that escalate into migraines if left untreated, also Goitre (neck swelling) which isn't noticable due to modern medications. his agromeglia You assume is no longer affecting him due to his Adonis like body, and the cyberware you see is mostlikey there to correct any future problems that may arise and or alert him to if they return.
For those OOC's that are just wondering...
He’s had cosmetic surgery to make his facial features less monstrous, and to remove the excess sweat gland that overproduce so as to keep a normal method of cool down (Facial change, acral enlargement, and soft-tissue swelling, Excessive sweating), unfortunately there is no surgery that can alleviate the problem that causes the headaches unless he becomes completely cured of his disorder (Headaches), pent up rage and anger at this particular side effect of his disorder, has been used to channel and focus his playing ability to release that frustration at controlled times, similar to the focus and targeting of today’s martial arts tournament enthusiasts (infertility, Erectile dysfunction and/or decreased libido), the first treatment to alleviate this problem was to induce bone density therapy, which provided the catalyst for Acroparesthesiae which in this instance they were forced to give him the titanium bone lacing to stop the abnormal growth of the plates. (Arthropathy), increased size of thyroid, he has taken the supra thyroid implant for his sport to alleiviate this part of the disorder (Goitre)
Oh great and masterful diety of all things Shadowrun, did I miss anything that he should know from assensing the legendary man that holds the weight of the world?

Fair enough.
So, alright. Going by the chart on p. 183, here, let's see.
Billy on 1 hit:
[ Spoiler ]
Billy is generally healthy, his emotional state at the moment is a mixture of boredom and casual amusement, and he is Awakened.
On 2 hits:
[ Spoiler ]
He hasn't got any implants, and he is an Adept.
3:
[ Spoiler ]
Essence is 6 and Magic is 6, since I don't know how those compare to yours, I'll just go ahead and give you the numbers.
The only malady or poison he might be suffering is a bit of tar in his lungs.
4:
[ Spoiler ]
And...I think I've run out of stuff. Still no implants for you to spot, etc. The general cause of his emotional state is hard to pin down, he just seems bored/uncaring (and desperately seeking amusement) all the time, really, due to the death of a very good friend (which can be read about in some background fiction I posted...somewhere...I thought, in this thread or the recruitment one). And, uh, no, he's not a Technomancer.

To clarify, I prefer not to originate with an untrusting atmosphere. Unless I have a reason not to trust your die rolls, I'm fine with you rolling dice and just posting the results, however you roll them. I have some players that roll physical dice, or just use
the dice roller at Irony. So it's up to you. However, I do suggest waiting until after the assensing dice have been rolled before posting anything. No reason to let the cat out of the bag early, right?
I generally allow you to roll any rolls. The only exceptions are when I think there might be a serious issue with you knowing the results of failed rolls.
And for the record, women use gorgeous to refer to men all the time
Djinni - Basically, I'll just add in the stuff I think you didn't mention for the third and fourth hit.
3 + 4 = You obviously have the information on the exact maladies he's suffering from. Additionally, you know his essence as .625, and the location of and presence of all of his implants.
