I've had limited success with online play-by-post games before. Irregardless, I want to try something out, and this seems like the best venue for it. What I'm looking for is about 4 runners. Standard char-gen, with Street Magic and Augmentation both legal. No cyberzombies, brains in boxes, or starting with membership in one of those weird, cool magical groups like the 10,000 Daggers one.
I'm setting my sights low. One adventure, fairly simple. I will post about once a day (maybe more), with sundays possibly being a difficult day for me to manage. I'm looking to exercise some GMing muscles that have atrophied in the past year or so. Patience and feedback from the players would be well appreciated. The campaign itself would be starting around the L.A. Sprawl, with the runners having recently arrived in the San Fernando Valley area. They aren't famous (yet), don't have P2.0 (yet)...they're more or less fresh off the bus. I was considering Neo-Tokyo, but it's far too restrictive on metahumans to be playable without restricting players to humans-only, IMO. |

I'm interested, although it's 2 am right now and hard for me to think too much about what character concept I'd like to play. It's too bad you're not considering Arsenal yet (not that I blame you, since it's only out in PDF form :D); there's an awesome off-road truck designed for desert terrain that's had me thinking of creating a combination Rigger/Face type smuggler, and LA is such a driving oriented sprawl that it would have meshed rather well, especially since it's where all the people with pretty faces think they belong anyway.
One caveat; I'm not terribly experienced with play-by-post games, but on the upside I enjoy writing, so I think I could adapt fairly quickly. |

Well I am semi interested. I have an offensively orientated male human mage, and a gun bunny mystic adept elf chick who I wouldnt mind using.
If other people want to play you can pass me over, but if not I will gladly step up. Im still probably a noob as far as rules and experience are concerned. |

P2.0? I should probably know what that is... but I don't. :-D

Media-type shadowrunning as practiced in L.A. ;) I have a surfer chick adept that might fit in, but I'd really have to trim her down to fit the criteria. |

Bah, who needs fancy-shmansy magic? Adepts, peh! Lets bring on the hurt, with a chromed vengeance!
Oh, yeah, I'd totally love to play. Want us to e-mail you our character ideas in depth? A concept I would like to see work, especially in LA Sprawl... Desperado, more later if I get picked. |

Email or PM, both are fine.
P2.0 is a concept introduced in Corporate Enclaves; you don't have to worry about it yet, I'll be introducing it in the campaign. It's basically like a more obnoxious version of Myspace that exists in AR. Not only are you judged by the size of your friend lists, but by how close you are to the CEO of Horizon (and by extension, every other important person in the sprawl), and by how many people subscribe to your blog. P2.0 Runners have to deal with people basically watching their every move, cameras following them around during ops, etc. There are paparazzi drone cameras everywhere. The flipside is that if you duck all of this stuff, avoid/shoot the drones, and don't try to get on P2.0, you're locked out of the big jobs. |

Please disregard my earlier post; bottom line is that I've been neglecting my course load bad enough as it is and really need to bear down on IRL a bit more.

I would be interested. I have a character I'm working on, Dancer, an adept who is a face, and also decent in combat.

That sounds good. A perfect fit for SR Los Angeles, really.

I'm finding myself with way too much time on my hands between calls at work and would be interested in picking up a second game.
Arsenal fair game? I'd like to play an over the top Troll with a BIG gun, I think that would fit in perfectly with LA. |

I won't have Arsenal until it comes out in hardback, so I'm afraid Arsenal is not fair game yet. :(
Street Magic and Augmentation are all right though, within the aforementioned limits. |

I wouldn't mine joining in, but it seems like you've got a full crew as it is. If somebody drops out I could whip up a neat character and join in.

Whipstitch had to drop out, and I still haven't received any characters yet, so the makeup of the team is still pretty fluid.

I'm still working on Dancer's background, but I've made good progress on it. I should get the sheet to you sometime this week.

Question - do you have any house rules for the matrix, like the ever fun 'Logic + Skill capped by program' or similar?

Currently I'm not planning to use any house rules. Yes, this allows for dumb hackers, but script kiddies exist in real life too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'd also be very interested if you end up needing more players. I was actually thinking of starting a game like this myself (to learn the new edition that is).
What kind of theme are you going for? "Dark and gritty" or "pink-mohawk" or something else? |

I know they're new to shadowrunning, but what's the power level and build point allocation? I'd be willing to build an infiltration spec. hacker type with bioware and gymnastic prowess for getting to targets. He could either be an assassin or be a very sneaky and unethical journalist/photojournalist (Prefferred. perfect for L.A - Sam Fisher as a papparazzo)
Also I'm thinking of putting together an sioux ex-wildcat sniper, who dabbles in electronic warfare, intelligence and communications jamming, maybe with a drone or two for target help and cover. Probably a nice commlink and some sweet smartlink and zooming vision mag ware. |

I used standard SR4 creation rules (400 BP, max of 50 BP in gear, max of 200 BP in attributes).
And a team full of "facey types" would be fun for a media runner group, IMHO. |

Well, I echo the comment about having way too much time between calls at work. And this is one of the fun forums I like to spend time on. I wouldn't mind playing, I'm easy with character types. But if your full up I don't mind just watching. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Looking over my proposed char sheet, and the list of characters offered, we have a few adepts, facey, it seems, a covert ops photojournalist hacker, and a troll with a big gun. So it looks like we're missing good magic support to fill roles such as illusion spells, spirit cover and healing, if you don't mind playing it.
Also, Ezeckial, seems we might have TWO pornomancers/physads (i think), so some fire support will still be useful, but it would be absolutely lovely for us to have a big troll with some spare points put into intimidation, although you'll probably need to bump the charisma so you're not just relying on Troll intimidation modifiers. Also, is this sort of pre-game table talk allowed? And I'm finished with my character, so do I send it to JohnC or can I post it here, perhaps under a spoiler? |

That brings up something I was wondering myself. How well do these characters know each other? Have they met at all, or will they first meet each other when they see the Johnson? Also, do you want us to put up brief character descriptions?
