Funny I was thinking about it a few minutes ago.
I'd add : - Elite (well we may get one, but it'll probably come out even after Duke Nukem Forever) - The Outfoxies - Covert Action (as mentioned in another thread) - Syndicate - Advent Rising (it was supposed to be a trilogy) |

@Blade=Outfoxies?
Privateer and X-wing fans should check out X3. This game has been slowly sucking the life out of me for the last 6 months Don't like the space combat all that much (not viceral enough, controls kinda... iffy). I also don't have the shear time required to really get into the meat and potatos of that game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@Blade=Outfoxies? It's a terrific 1994 arcade game. It's a kind of 2D one-on-one fighting game set in a contest between professional assassins. You play in huge levels, with weapons scattered everywhere but you can also fight with your bare hands. The screen zooms in when the characters get close to each other and out when they are far away. Actually it's not unlike Smash Bros, except that you have to kill the opponent instead of throwing him out of the arena. What makes the game really fun is the gameplay and the arenas, full of dynamic elements. |

*Crawls on belly for forgiveness* How... How could I forget the game that sucked away years of my childhood. X-Wing and Tie Fighter deserve better. DO YOU HEAR MY LUCAS ARTS! GIVE ME ANOTHER X-WING GAME I want a space combat sim, where you can fly flighters etc, but you also have to actually FLY the capitol ships, and manage damage, weapons coverage, etc. eviromental variables would be nice too. (in the middle of an asteroid field?) also, I'm waiting for NOLF 3. |

I was really disappointed by NOLF 2. |

It's hard to define exactly what it's lacking, but I didn't enjoy it that much. There are a few things I really disliked, such as:
* The useless filler mission with the cops and the wanted posters. Not much of a challenge and just a waste of time. * The mission with the supersoldiers in India. I don't really like infiltration missions, and I hate them when you can't do anything to the enemies. * The boss battle with the samurai girl. Once inside the house there was absolutely no way I could win in Superspy difficulty level (at least not with the way I'd spent my XP). * The snowmobile part, when you come back from the enemy base. I guess you're supposed to drive through the enemies with everyone shooting at you, which is quite cool... But in Superspy difficulty you get killed too quickly, so you either have to lower the difficulty level or get down from the snowmobile to kill the enemies first. * Respawning/infinite enemies. |

But in Superspy difficulty you get killed too quickly, so you either have to lower the difficulty level or get down from the snowmobile to kill the enemies first. * Respawning/infinite enemies. The snowmobile part is quite doable on Superspy if you've spent some points to raise your hitpoints. I mean, it's still possible if you haven't, but it's not nearly as frustrating if you have. I think it was designed to screw the people who decided to dump all their skill points into armor instead of hitpoints. The supersoldiers in India can be beaten down into overheating if you really need to. Some of my fond memories of this game are emptying all my ammo into one, drawing the tulwar, and going BANZAAIIIII and then actually overheating the supersoldier before dying. I found the mission with the cops and wanted posters to be harder than the other ones since you can't just blow the cops away. I think I died more often to the cops cornering me and beating me to death with their batons than from guys with rifles whom I was allowed to shoot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Although the one thing that killed me the most in the game was the spiked ceiling deathtrap. I've played through NOLF 2 maybe 10 times or so, but NOLF 1 only 1 time. You know, NOLF 2 basically corrected a lot of gameplay frustrations in NOLF 1, such as stealth being a total nightmare (no hiding spots), and there being more weapons than number keys to bind them to, such that it requires planning in advance of the level if you want to be able to draw a luger. Not to mention I found NOLF 1 was much harder to complete than NOLF 2. The last levels of NOLF 1 are much harder than the last levels of NOLF 2. NOLF 1 had excellent atmosphere, and perhaps part of the charm was that they gave you all sorts of gadget weapons like the perfume bottles that were ultimately useless. But NOLF 2 basically removed a lot of the gameplay elements that were frustrating from NOLF 1. One example is how it's easier to use stealth because NOLF 2 tells you when you're "hidden" and when you're not. |

Privateer: Oh man I loved that game. Too bad Privateer 2 had that "adaptive difficulty" thing which sort of killed it. Independence Wars II: How did I miss this? Wing Commander: The whole series was amazing. Alpha Centauri: never played. |

(in the middle of an asteroid field?) You want to hunt down a copy of Independence Wars 1&2 (2 has the pretty graphics and Privateer like storyline, 1 has the Enders Game crunchy mechanics) Once you've worshipped at the altar of IW we can both scream into the night for a sequel. @Moon-Hawk= It's kinda up in the air. There has been talk of episodic content which is something I'm not every excited about (the current crop of episodic content is not something I get very excited about. Especially with epic games like TLJ) If you like Civilization and you like transhumanist themes. Alpha Centauri is awesome. It really needs an update but it's still my favorite rule the world game. It actually has a plot and subplots. Also, NOFL? |

Deus Ex
System Shock 2 If you want the space sim set up, I've been enjoying the hell out of Galactic Civ II... I need t get the new expansion too. Theres some good stuff in there, and customizable ships are cool (yes I've lost hours on the ship construction page, why do you ask?) |

Ah, Gal Civ2 is fantastic (haven't played the expansion yet, i'll wait till I actually master the first game) but I don't want a conquer the galaxy game, I want a "Conquer a brand new virgin planet" game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I may or may not have lost hours to the ship design function in GC2. I loved how I could spin up production on ships that met my style of play, from fast lightly armored ships to protect my shipping and harass the enemy to massive battleships that formed the backbone of an invasion fleet. Oh and the fact that they gain experience didn't hurt my experience either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Deus Ex certainly deserves a "good" sequel, but we'll have to wait and see if Deus Ex 3 can fit the bill.

See but Fallout 3 is actually going to get made so my angst is contained on that front.
Although I would love to play an improved Fallout:Tactics And yes, I'm fairly certain we'd all love to play a REAL SR game. Maybe when Bethseda gets done with Fallout... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) There's some desert punk game I read about that sounded kinda SR like. Actually sounded really good but I can't remember the name. |

But all this also begs the question: what would you expect from each of these sequels/remakes?
