Why did he start Cram?

He tried cram for the same reason most people try drugs 2 parts curiosity, 1 part peer pressure (though the numbers switch for most people (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ). He's cocky enough that he's the one who applies peer pressure and is, well, not immune, but less influenced by it on the outside.

A:It's quite a rush and feels good! (he wouldn't tell you that this is why he does it, though) B: It gave him a reflexes edge in sports. It wires him up, giving him an energy boost so he can party, do school and play sports without feeling run down. plus it would add to the cockiness. C: The cool kids the year ahead of him were doing it, so it must be cool. That's a monor reason, though. In his mind he's on par with them and doesn't need the drugs to be cool.

As for Ripper, he probably would use it, in fact, as well as G3. But it's stimulants he has an addiction to. I'm not sure if Ripper is a stimulant. I kinda envisioned him cheing Wuxing's wondrous product of betel gum, too. Keeps him alert and his teeth get to be all shiny.

Drawing on my own experience (I worked as a caregiver in a detox for street kids for 6 years) only 30% of people can become physically addicted to anything. The rest is all psychological. People use drugs rarely just to party and feel good. Usually it is a form of self-medication. People who are hyper tend to use pot. People who are sluggish tend to use cocaine. People who want to keep their weight down and stay awake tend to use crystal method. I figured Mitchel to be one of the 30%. He just has that body that gets to the "I physically need it" point.

Pretty much. He'd be a pretty hyper dude under the effects of cram. After he's come down and eaten and slept he'd appear normal. After all, it's only a mild addiction so far.

Whew...So thar you have m'boy, the touchy feely enforcer/sammie type Anders! Please point out any glaring problems. I went through this a couple times but by the end of it my eyes were just a little bit buggy! I'll work on getting BG stuff done up tonight after work for tomorrow. And you thought gary coleman bitch slapping some lady was as bad as it got! As for the one liners I don't know if famous would be appropriate but I was thinking of a few things like "Lazer Crew's gonna make you see through!" or "I can't just let them die,...I need to make SURE they're dead!" perhaps "Run and scream, you'll be leaking just the same!"...I can't really find the epitome of corny catch phrase quite yet, but Anders himself would be more of the type to qoute classic stage play hoping someone will recognize it in conversation, though I envision him as really donning the old corny role when he's got his game face on, underneath the gas mask...

I'll work on some more BG stuff tonight Dakka, how deep do you want this stuff? Like a page or two? Also I was thinking if it could be worked out as a front for Anders real SIN to use the Homeopathic Medicine shop as a legit front like a small shop that he owns and he lives out back behind it, serving the afraid of modern medicine crowd.

So I wasn't sure if you wanted BG sent to you or open for all, so here's what I got (I just figured out the spoiler tag!) it's really more of a primer on how he got to the current situation. I can't do much more tonight but I'll work up a proper physical description et all soon as I can! later!

Anders Halloway – 29 – Troll – Fantasy to Reality

Anders was born in a small town in NoCal. His mother, Norabelle, was a fussy woman and always went to great measures to ensure the safety of her little munchkin. Plagued by migraine headaches, mysterious pains and a number of other afflictions through her life, which were largely discounted by medical professionals as being psycho semantic she turned to natural medicine and old wives tales to help ease her aches. Convinced that the pollution and degradation that the awakened world hides around every corner were the reason for her “illness� she vowed to keep her son from going through her ordeal. Anders’ father Tellman made a small fortune early in life hacking out algorithms that predict armed conflict based on rises in food prices. So with that cred in the bank they settled into a nice life on the outskirts of society. Inadvertently Norabelle’s attempt to keep Anders safe from the world’s ills led him to adopt a perspective that the world is full of all manner of nasty infectious buggies that wanted to make you sick, while not an incapacitating fear it did keep him from venturing out into the world at a young age and as such most of his socializing was done via the matrix or with trideo, and before long he decided that he was going to be like his “friends� and heroes.
At the age of ten, despite his mother’s protests and his own building fears of the plague that is the modern world Anders began working with a very small local theatre group as a stage hand and extra for productions of classic dramas. His natural curiosity, imagination and natural talent led him on to many roles over the ensuing years, but on the eve of his breakout performance as Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet he was stricken with a sickness that lasted for weeks. Tended to by his mother and a private nurse he went through the painful process of goblinization. His fear of the infections of the outside world were fueled greatly by this sudden and unexpected transformation. Among other things this took from him a future as a stage actor as he found that no one in his former troupe could handle his new state in the secluded area he was relegated to lifting supplies for them or playing the occasional tree spirit.
He did not however give up and took his downgrade in stride. Obsessed with the idea of becoming an actor he hung onto his small parts at best, all the while acting out at home with his mother and father scripts they downloaded from the matrix and played in this own home as his instruction in the arts. Eventually a seedy talent scout found his way to Anders’ little borough having heard about a starlet in his group, which he took away to simstardom, but seeing Anders hiding in the wings tapped him for an up and coming trid show that was going to be the hottest Shadowrunner action adventure since “Razor Runners in Bug City!�.
Much to his mother’s dismay and his father’s great pleasure Anders left the country to seek his fortune on the small screen, it’s a stepping stone, just a step. Ending up cast as a stupid ganger turned mobile weapons platform named Stix in “Lazer Crew� Anders enjoyed a modicum of success as the show passed through its first season despite a threadbare budget and canned scripts. At the age of 19 he was on his own for the first time and learning things he never thought he would, he still kept mostly to himself in Hollywood, preferring the take his time doing yoga and frequenting holistic healing seminars between lunch meetings with his new agent, Ben Carter a less than reputable hack, all the while trying to get into some real parts on stage hopefully. The other shoe dropped the next year when “Razor Runners the Next Generation� hit the trid and ratings plummeted for the already barely surviving show. Now with no job and his agent not returning his calls Anders was bereft. His dreams of being a big star were wilting before his eyes. Finally with no other option one of his few friends in Hollywood told him that he should try security work, and begrudgingly Anders began training to put his girth against nosy solicitors and loiterers.
Four years later Scottie Barstow a former Lone Star cop turned private consultant ran into Anders. Scottie ran an outfit that created semi-realistic break ins and extractions for corps to test their security, and after recognizing Anders while scoping out a job decided that the huge actor cum guard would be perfect for an addition to his team. For the next three years Anders worked with Scottie and learned about security procedures, tactics and infiltration, not to mention that the world wasn’t quite as scary as his mother believed, though he still wore his gloves whenever he was outdoors and had a filter mask ready. It wasn’t to last though. Eventually Anders, tired of being constantly reminded of his failure as an actor and tired of pretending decided to start slowly outfitting himself to be what he was always cast as, a shadowrunner in hopes that he could make the fortune his “stardom� failed to provide and secure a future in which he could retire away from the city, and away from the failures, if he survives that is. So with Scottie’s help (any white hat worth his salt has to know the black hats too), he began to relocate his life to Seattle and set up a cover for his new activities.
It’s been two years since he begrudgingly got cut up to jack his system realizing quickly that life in the shadows is fast and hard, with no time to pretend, never knowing that the type of body guarding jobs and courier style pickups and drops were nothing in the real underground. What he’d been acting at for years was nothing like the real dirt on the ground and blood on your face are, and now with a little experience and some street smarts he feels like he can hang now. He’s probably wrong, but he’ll keep on baring his teeth and pretending to be a heavy, pushing through the danger, I guess it’s really not that different from Hollywood after all…
