Able to recognize it as a cockatrice, and a very domesticated one at that apparently. Typically more aggressive and territorial, has the ability to petrify with its touch.

Here is the plan: Head towards the study, have a pair of watchers locate and track the beast. Stun bolt it and leave it be, then search the room. Advise the team not to touch it and be wary of the fact that it petrifies by touch and that whether it does that via magic or contact poison is not fully known.
