Oh, right, the long outage made me forget that I wanted to do a knowledge check too.

What is your knowledge check for exactly? What do you want to learn?

Basically anything I might know about the club. What types go there, what kind of clothing one should wear, type of music they play, food they serve. I figure I won't know anything real specific since my skill is fairly general, but I figure I might know a bit.

Good to know for those of us without clubbing knowledge and who didn't want to risk a 1-2 dice data search. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Jacket will take the hint to "dress well" to mean that he should wear his suit.
I expect that at least half of the team will be dressing to stand out. Jacket, on the other hand, could easily be mistaken for someone's bodyguard or private security staff.
[This] is basically the look he'll be going for.

Shame no one already knows each other, then we could really pull off the bodyguard disguise. Of course there is something odd about someone showing up to a meeting about becoming a runner and having a bodyguard.

What's the consensus on the empathy software now, Trigger? If they are banned I'd like to redistribute the nuyen.

Actually, I have been thinking about this, and I think that a good balance with the Empathy software is this:

When using the Empathy software to aid in a test, first make a test using the Empathy Software's Rating as the dicepool. The hits scored on that test are added to your Social skill test as a positive dice pool modifier. Edge can be used on the Empathy Software test, with hits capping at the Empathy Software's Rating. A glitch on the test results in the program having trouble reading an aspect of the person it is reading, applying a -1 modifier to the next test using the Empathy Software against that person. A critical glitch on test results in the system incorrectly identifying the emotion of its target and applying a negative dice modifier equal to half of the programs rating (rounded up) to the Social Test on which it is used.

I figure this is like the software running a Judge Intentions test every time you use it for a Social Test. (The text on Empathy Software allows you to make a Judge Intentions test with it, using just the Empathy Software's Rating as the dicepool, which is where my idea for the way to run it came from.)

My thoughts on this ruling is because the emotive recognition software is relatively new in the game, and thusly not perfect, and also because I do not think that the software would be able to always accurately read people's emotional state by their face and body language. An orc or troll's mouth area is going to show emotional changes differently than other metatypes dues to the presence of tusks. With people watching things in AR all the time, you can't accurately tell what a person is feeling by eye movements and where they are looking.

What do you guys think of this?

It sounds good and makes the thing less unbalanced. Can one buy successes in that test too, and what about modifiers to judge intention test (like those from mood hair)?

So it effectively turns it into a teamwork test. I like it.

I like the ruling too. I mean, the description does (I believe) say that it is basically used to determine how someone is feeling, yet nothing else that does that gives you bonuses to social dice, and especially not that huge. And after all, while knowing what the opponent is feeling can be an advantage, it isn't going to instantly turn someone into the god of all social situations.

Wonder what happened to Mister Juan. He was going to have his post up right around when DS crashed, figured he'd have noticed it was up again by now...

Perhaps you should continue it on a bit? He can always post what he did the previous night after you post what is going on in the morning.

I agree with turning the emoti-toy into what amounts to a teamwork tests. A traight 6 dice bonus is too much, but some bonus is definitely reasonable.

Yes you can buy successes, and yes the modifiers to a Judge Intentions test (like those from mood hair) will apply to this as well.

Jacket will arrive ready for "work". He will be wearing his body-armor under his armored suit, and will be carrying both of the firearms he has permits for - the semi-automatic taser in the concealed holster in his suit-jacket, and the Slivergun in another concealed holster at the small of his back. I'm assuming Holywood security is good, but he's a licensed bodyguard, and will keep his weapons on him until someone says something. He's wearing his skinlinked shades, earbuds, and subvocal mic, which are connected to his commlink. His microtranceiver is on hand, as well, but he doesn't have anyone to talk to at the moment. He won't want to go all the way home to pick anything up, so he'll have brought his slap-patches and, say, two handcuffs.

Basically, he's bringing everything except his spare outfits, and leftover handcuffs.

Kinky.

Anyway, I won't likely post until late tonight. I have a report I need to get finished up and them I'm going for a fairly long drive to be with my family for the holidays. I may post earlier depending on just how quickly I get the report done or if I need and can squeeze in a nice little break.

I should probably mention that Sarial has the following in the Bulldog:

1. Rotodrone with White knight and 250rnds of explosive ammo
2. Iball
3. Stormcloud
4. another 250 rounds of explosive ammo for that just in case moment
5. personal armour. Though if he needs to put that on were in trouble.

on him

1. Contact lenses
2. Ear buds
3. AR Gloves
4. Commlink

in the chair in the smugglers compartment would be the taser. Hes not wearing his armour right now

One thing im not 100% on is just how big a medium drone is compared to say the inside of the van (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

From what I remember a medium drone is going to be about as big as a dog (of the middling breeds like doberman pincher or German Shepard), so generally not too much of an issue for the inside of a van.

Yeah, that is about the size I consider medium drones to be, so it is just fine inside your van.

Yeah, I have been waiting for Karoline and Mister Juan to post before I move it further ahead. If they don't by the end of the weekend, I will just move on without them and they can catch up if they are still interested in playing.
