I just played my first magician and it was pretty fun. Although it's hard as mentioned above to really generalize a character. By saying I played I magician I mean i'm playing a pacifist, who specializes in Manipulation spells and not combat or physical spells. So one magician and another can differ vastly. But yeah this character is much more fun than my gunbunny, which was basically point and shoot.

Well the Archtype I like is the human face with little to no cyberware or anything like that, just good at blending in and chatting it up. Its a rather limited character now that there are skill caps. One of my old 2e characters had a negotiation skill of 22 started at 6 and just bought up with karma (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) With the skill caps its much more a contact monkey and less focus on just making a good impression.

My inability to stop running my mouth has meant that I'm most comfortable playing characters who are reasonably proficient socially. What else they do varies tremendously from person to person.

I like adepts or augmented characters who are combat-oriented, but with a secondary specialty of face. Mages are okay, but I don't like them as much.
In SR3, my favorite type was a sorcerer, because you could give them a lot of other skills (since they only needed the sorcery skill for their "specialty", they had lots of extra skill points even at the lowest allotment of them), and they got a lot of spell points, too. They could be real Swiss army knife characters. |

Tech based characters. Usually a infiltrator/hacker or face/hacker mix. I love being able to turn enemy tech against them. My TM was my favorite because I could turn him into a great hacker pretty early on, grab a few useful echos like overclock and skinlink, and then I started getting into other skills mainly stuff to help break into places when attacking the network from a distance wasn't an option.

I think I'm falling in love with the stealth types. I used to be a combat monkey, but was constantly finding myself bored and my attention would inevitably wander to my laptop and its glorious internet connection.

You'd need full biohazard gear. Classes are a cancer causing biohazard. I know this all too well. I used to build 3.5 characters as a hobby, along with Shadowrun characters. I gradually transitioned more and more towards Shadowrun, and now create Shadowrun toons almost exclusively. |

Well the subject says it all, what do you like to play most? A Elven Sorcerer/Dragon Descendant Lvl 6/3 but that is in Dragonlance with D&D3.5 here in Shadowrun.... there are so many Possibilities and Kombinations . I've got 25 different Chars (even Hobbits) and I love 'em All with a lot of loveable Dances Medicineman |

BARBARIAN! For 4e D&D, that is. However, in SR....I'm not sure yet. There are some I don't have a particular interest in, but there are other concepts that I am fascinated with. My mage that I was previously preparing for play fell by the wayside for an ex-LS cop (with Heavy Weapons skill. who'da thunk it?) since one of the lads is preparing to join the group, and wants to play a Theurge (son of a pastor, just got out of a christian college. Not surprising, but for a first character, it's prolly a good idea). I think that Weapons Specialist is the one that most draws my eye....

I love my Strongman.
Either i'll play the Cyber/Bio Combat-Monster Troll, or an Ork or a Dwarf. Of course, both Cyber/Bio Combat-Monsters too ^^ Ironically, my FACE-Character is my most played, even though i loathe to be the pretty boy face <.< |

I can't stand it if the "Face" is incompetent (stupid RP), and I don't have the skills to do it myself, so I'll generally invest in that myself. And I do like the flexibility of being a magician. I'm gonna try a hacker now; I might like that too.
