QUOTE (Caadium @ Apr 11 2010, 10:29 PM) *
This makes me feel very comfortable with out national security. "Hey look, there's something about this container that is calling for us to x-ray it, should we do that here in LA?" "Nah, put it on a train, send it across the country, and then do it in New York."

Since it went from LA before heading east there is a very good chance that it passed by the tracks a mile from my place. So close, yet so far! Now it has to go to NY, then back to Indiana, then to who knows where, so it can get back to me in California.

So I was right in my mental picture of the books passing straight by the distribution point only to be bounced back again.

God I love being cynical.

Okay I ran my fortnightly session last night, and a player that works at the FLGS said he had received an email/letter/call (I dont remember which) from his suppliers saying that their LE orders were put on hold, due to the recent going ons with Catalyst, and will be till its sorted out.

Now fortunately my order is directly through Battleshop.. Am I (and I'm sure many other dumpshockers) affected, or is this an isolated issue?

The LEs should not be on hold. I can't explain the actions of different distributors, though.

Jason,

Could you kindly advise whether the shipment made it to the warehouse on Tuesday (as expected by BishopMcQ and yourself)? If so, when are orders (particularly those orders placed through the BattleCorp shop) likely to be sent out?

With thanks,

Li7hium

I doubt any consumer orders will go out until at least next week, given that once they hit the Fort Wayne warehouse, a portion of the books then need to be shipped to Seattle, unpacked, enveloped, etc.

Rumors are that the LE are still in costums. Reason is unknown, maybe CGL cannot pay the costum toll or there is an investigation againt CGL so that their assets are being hold.

The LEs have made progress. I'm told definitive information will be posted by Randall today or tomorrow. I will bug him to make sure that happens.

Will the hardcopy be the same as the PDF? I ask because I noticed that AH has a story on his site (Happy Trails) that appears in the PDF version of the book. Given some of the issues involved, did that survive to print?

I believe so. SR4A payments have been made, so there were no issues about copyright withdrawals or contract terminations that affected the book.

What source is that? It sounds like cynical speculation. Not saying you aren't reporting what you heard, but I question the source.

I can't link the exact post on the page, you'll have to find it yourself
here's the quote:

Here's the deal: the Limited Editions exist. They were printed and they were shipped. There is no reason that they should not be in peoples' hands already.

They have been locked in customs for some time. More than a week. There is now open speculation as to what the fuck has happened to them. Theories include "IMR is flagged by the FBI" and "IMR is flagged by Homeland Security" and "IMR has lost its business license" and "IMR has had inventory seized by the IRS." As you can surmise, most of the speculation tends to run towards the "Loren Coleman is in trouble with the government" what with all the stealing and the fact that the government isn't releasing a shipping container full of Catalyst stuff.

quick edit:
well, I guess that this is Tycho's source. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I would guess that the FLGS had only ordered copies of the newer books (maybe a smattering of the old books as well) and since the majority of the new books are on hold they are holding the entire shipment, including the LE's. But that would just be a guess on my part. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have been told that the LEs are in the warehouse. Definitive information should be coming from Randall as Jason posted above. The normal process would be:
-- the books arrive in the warehouse via container (T day)
-- the books are unloaded and sorted (T+3 days)
-- the books get shipped to the CGL office for BattleShop pre-orders (T+8 days)
-- the books are received, packed up individually, and shipped out (T+ 12 days)
-- customers receive their order (T+ 13-19 days based on locality and shipping method)

Finally found it.

It's interesting who made that post. Filtering out speculation from what sounds reasonable, indexed against my experiences with a company severely in debt and unable to make payroll, and my guess is that the funds weren't there to pick up the crate of books.

If they're at the warehouse now, my shot-in-the-dark guess is because someone threw down an AmEx and paid for it to be delivered.

I guess we'll find out in the next day or two what the hell is going on, won't we?

I'm curious what the LE run was anyway. I know FFG does a 500-1000 book LE run, but those things cost like 2-300 bucks.

I'm not positive, but I *think* someone said in one of the other threads 1500. The SR3 and SR4 LE's were both limited to 1000.

That's a "no" on having mine at all.

Jason, could you please tell me if there are options for cancelling an order? Or at least delaying it by 3 months?

Yes, there is. Could you PM me information about your order so I can get it to the right people?

I'm sorry this. I know the delay has been unacceptably long.

At least we finally have a light at the end of the tunnel. And I got a free PDF (I used that very nice $10 discount on the Eclipse Phase book/PDF combo). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

At this point the light is either the day, or a train.

How did you get a free PDF?

Two or three months ago, CGL sent out a coupon code for $10 off a BattleShop order to people who had preordered the SR4A LE, by way of apologizing for the delay. Like I said, I bought the Eclipse Phase book/PDF combo (the EP PDF being only $10 rather than $15 like other PDFs), so I essentially got a free PDF of Eclipse Phase to pass around to my friends, plus the lovely dead-tree edition for my shelf (and hopefully eventually to actually play with).

Ah... I had ordered too recently to get the coupon.

EP looks very interesting. I might buy the dead tree version when it gets back into print. I love sci-fi settings, and Traveller is great, but it has a very distinct "60's"-esque hard sci-fi vibe to it.

If you haven't yet checked out Eclipse Phase, please do remember that it's Creative Commons licensed and freely re-distributable. So, give it to your friends! (or beg one of them for it, as appropriate.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
