So last year's meet and greet was a lot of fun (even though we ended up split apart at the beginning). So lets plan for this year!

Anyone have any suggestions besides Claddagh's? Personally I liked the atmosphere and the food so I'm okay with going back there.

Quince thinks there is something about Claddagh that lends itself to Shadowrun.
He plans on being there.

Now, if only they served more Soy or Krill based options....

I'm down for that. We've done it the last couple years, so it makes a good meet & greet locale. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've been an Alcatraz fan for years, but really, I'll go anywhere with a bar.

Claddagh's is nice because since it's more than two blocks away you don't get the rush of gamers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Gen Con, or Claddagh?

Gen Con in in Indianapolis, as is Claddagh. Here's a map.

I intend to work enough breathing room into my travel plans to actually make it in time for this, and after 10 hours on the road I'll likely be ready for a drink.

I really need to get more pictures this year, and actually get people to remember folks names and handles. Because I'm bad by nature, and worse once I've had a few drinks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Have room for one to show up?

Also, another question can anybody recommend a hotel that is closer to the convention center, say within a couple of blocks?

I can recommend several. However, this "late" in the registration process, finding rooms is next to impossible. The Convention has most of the rooms blocked off for folks who register through them, and they sell out fast. As in, within 30 minutes of the reg going live, everything in a 5 block radius tends to be booked solid. :/

That said, the Embassy is nice, has only suites for a reasonable rate, and offers up a good breakfast buffet in the morning, has a free "open bar" for an hour or two in the evening, and lots of seating. It's only a 2-3 block walk, and you can even make the trip going through walkways only (though beware the evil that is Cinnabon, for you have to pass by it often (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

THe Westin has really nice as well, and directly across from the convention center. If I had my choice of hotels, that would probably be it, because the proximity is outstanding.

I've also stayed at the Marriot (Nice and also directly across from the con center), the Omni and the Crowne Plaza (Both nice, and only a short hike).

Good luck!

Just as a note... The map I linked earlier in the thread has most of the hotels listed on it. However, there were a couple new ones being worked on last year, so they're not on this map, as it's a couple years old.

This map does have a black arrow on it pointing toward the Claddagh though. That's the important bit. And yeah, we always have room. They don't do reservations, so we usually just take over large sections of it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've had reasonably good luck with Gencon's waiting list, although I generally get on it the day it opens. THree years running I've hopped on their system as it opened only to have something screw up during the reservation process and have to start fully or partially over only to find all the double bed rooms sold out, every time I've been able to get a room through the wait list process. Honestly if it wern't for the fact i'm traveling with a large party with wildly divergant interests and schedules i'd likely stay down town and driv ein every morning. Cheaper almost by half even after you factor in parking, but it's hard to beat the convenience of on site.

Hey now, I didn't do vodka. I was doing 6-8 ounce shots of Bacardi 151 and/or Bushmills. Flak and Twin-Steve were the ones abusing the Stohli. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Besides, I can't get drunk at a bar. It's too expensive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
