... How?

I've got two controllers, so this is of great interest to me.

You get an Xbox to USB adapter and plug into a USB port on your PC. Then you need the F-ton of drivers and profiles.

Or, you wait.
BOTH MWO AND HAWKEN will get their own dedicated Controllers ala Steel Bataillon.
Which will hopefuly both use USB and thus be compatible with basically anything you want . .

I have to admit, it is really neat that the first option has a screen built into it, but it strikes me that the latter option would have more usability for other games.

Yeah, the screen is a gimmick.
It will display certain information from the MWO-Game, probably Radar Map.
Other Games won't use that and this limits it's usefullness.
The other Controller(Hawken) will be useable better and it can be pulled apart.
The MWO Controller is one single unit.

And it reminds me of my beloved Steel Battalion... I'll pay the $250 if that's what he asks for it!

Does anyone have any interesting Solaris gimmick mechs?

My Novacat small laser boat has been more effective than I expected. Better if one or two of the 14 small lasers are replaced with something long-range enough to get the attention of the other combatants. Either way, it's fun taking down heavies with the least effective laser. Relatively low heat, low enough weight that I can pack on armor and engines, and a 2 second recycle time.

I'd like to try an all machine-gun build, but I'm not sure what chassis would have enough ballistic/omni/direct fire slots to do any sort of damage. Also, fast and armored enough to survive getting up close. The annihilator is close, but too slow and too many non-ballistic slots. I'm also not sure about going up against assault mechs with so little damage.

Buddy of mine thought massive braces of large bore weaponry was the way to go, and in a lot of ways, he's right; *if* you take out the human element.

A large amount of small bore LB-X auto cannons are just amazing. On hit, they rock the cockpit of the enemy mech skyward, making aiming impossible and fine movement very difficult. The rapid reload speed of the cannons themselves allow you to indefinitely keep an opponent off balance with only two or three cannons, depending on your accuracy. Personally, I suck at the game, so I find having 4 to be a pretty decent spot to guarantee a win.

2 works on a light mech. Which is good, because I don't know of a light mech that has more than 6 ballistics slots. It works awesome, until you run out of ammo. Aim straight, conserve ammo...

i did.
waste of money in my opinion.
i am hugely disappointed from MWO right now . .
it's world of tank with mechs, and not as refined as WOT yet . .

Ouch. Between that and the MW Tactics flop, it feels like the last gasp of a dying universe.

MW Tactics HAD PROMISE . . but right now, they are making most of the old fans angry at them with their ideas of visual design . .

I wish MWLL had been big/successfull enough to go the CounterStrike Way. Become an official and legit game in and off itself.

From what I've heard from friends who went to GenCon, they're going the MMO route. You'll have your standard medium laser, your uncommon ML, rare, etc. SO BUY MORE PACKS.

Fucking stupid.

I blame herb.

MW Tactics LOOKED good in the beginning.
Basically, like MegaMek only with hugely improved graphics . .
And now, it's more looking like it might be sooner compared to MechAssault rather than MegaMek . .
in-game-art-style sucks and the buying booster packs with random stuff in them including ultra rare over powered weapons . .
