I found this and had to share it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif)
QUOTE If Your Child is a Gothic, Reform Through the Lord! Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your child may have gone astray from the Lord. Gothic (or goth) is a very obscure and often dangerous culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in. The gothic culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through counselling, prayer, and parental guidance to rid your child of Satan's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child: 1. Frequently wears black clothing. 2. Wears band and/or rock t-shirts. 3. Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish. 4. Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include: reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various other Satanic worshipping symbols. 5. Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos. 6. Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.) 7. Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. 8. Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports. 9. Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan. 10. Takes drugs. 11. Drinks alcohol. 12. Is suicidal and/or depressed. 13. Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.) 14. Complains of boredom. 15. Sleeps too excessively or too little. 16. Is excessively awake during the night. 17. Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.) 18. Demands an unusual amount of privacy. 19. Spends large amounts of time alone. 20. Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil sprits through meditation.) 21. Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult. 22. Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this. 23. Misbehaves at school. 24. Misbehaves at home. 25. Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this. 26. Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.) 27. Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.) 28. Plays videos games that contains violence or are of a role-playing nature. 29. Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer. 30. Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music. 31. Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner. 32. Expresses an interest in sex. 33. Masturbates 34. Is homosexual and/or bisexual. 35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism. 36. Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth". 37. Claims to be a goth. If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center. ~St. Mary's Catholic Church |

Hahah. Oh wow. When was this written?
So... If you drink alcohol, are interested in sex, jerk off, watch TV, and commit one other tiny little sin like using the computer or playing the x-box - you're a satan loving goth. Contrats. You just described every teenage man across america. No wonder so many people I know who went to catholic school grew up to be athiest. Well. The list is clearly full of crap, and I don't agree with it, soo.... Why not have some fun with it? Let the dumpshockers fill it out, a joke poll kind of thing. Let's see which one of us is the most wicked inside. (according St Mary's church) |

This is a joke?
QUOTE 25. Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this. It has to be. Also, dude, it is Count Chocula! |

6. Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. Which music is anti-social? This one, maybe? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ljgzwZbxN0...feature=related QUOTE 7. Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. Like, say, any other teenager? QUOTE 13. Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.) On the other hand, if his self-mutilation is not part of any Satanic ritual, everything is just fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohplease.gif) Cudos if he reenacts the crucifixion. QUOTE 18. Demands an unusual amount of privacy. 19. Spends large amounts of time alone. 20. Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil sprits through meditation.) When teenagers are alone in their room, they... meditate. Yeah, of course. QUOTE 21. Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult. Although you might consider giving in when he turns 40. QUOTE 25. Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this. Do those ones really exist? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif) QUOTE 28. Plays videos games that contains violence or are of a role-playing nature. Optimistic view: PnP RPGs are casher (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Pessimistic view: We are so dead that even the Church does not care anymore (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) QUOTE 35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism. Philosophy ? Right, using your brain is dangerous. |

Unfortunately, this is real...I remember something like this years ago. But to call themselves catholic. Even Catholism recognizes Buddhism as just a philosophy and completely accepts that there are Buddhist Catholics. Heck there is even Shinto Catholics in Japan that they accept. But the Japanese speak Eccentrically so your kid may Goth.
But look at this: Catholic Priest They wear Black They Speak Eccentrically (Mass in Latin) They spend time meditating Read literature related to satan (The Bible) Express desire to drink actual blood Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. |

QUOTE No no no, Count Dracula cereal is when you use your own blood instead of milk. Its far more gothy.... Mmmh. It's like your own fresh black pudding made with delicious Kellog's Frosties ... QUOTE I remember something like this years ago. But to call themselves catholic. The Church is quite good in adapting to the locales. While in more tolerant countries they are less dogmatic, in America, it seems, that kind of Jack Chick theology resounds well with many Christians. It's the country where Revelations is the most popular book in the bible after all. I still refuse to believe this is for real, though. This is batshit even by the standards of American Christians. QUOTE They wear Black They Speak Eccentrically (Mass in Latin) They spend time meditating Read literature related to satan (The Bible) Express desire to drink actual blood Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. *giggle* The higher echelons choose pink or red, though. While fairly common among the more rad goths, it deserves mention regardless. |

"Claims to be a goth."
I find this funny, considering that claiming to be a goth is the easiest way to hurt your goth credentials short of bludgeoning Siouxsie Sioux. |

QUOTE I wonder if the realize that most of that list is just part of growing up. I doubt it. Besides, how should they know about it. Being celibate, gay, or losing all interest in children when they start to. |

I read through this, and had to laugh. And I'm going to answer the points;
1. Yes, but I also wear light colored clothing (mostly light tans) in the summer. 2. Rarely. All my old rock t-shirts are gone the way of rags, and I only have maybe two band shirts left, and those bands are long since defunct. 3. I can't wear make-up, because I break out. I never liked lipstick, cause it statesdisgusting. I have work nailpolish, but only on Halloween. 4. No, except I have a V:tM Ankh pin that took me a long time to track down, & I'm keeping that as a reminder of my Black Swan nights. I infrequently pin a silver bat pin (from LeBarBat in NYC, also long since closed) or a Smiley the Psychotic Button. 5. Ouch. No thanks. I did have my left ear-tab pierced once, but it got infected & I had to let it heal. 6. Nah. Too morose for my liking. 7. Gee, ya THINK? They are the ones that make life FUN. 8. The last time there was a connection between comic books & religeon I was involved in was a comic-book show that was held in a church basement. It was a waste of time & train fare, but I did get to see Dave Prowse (Darth Vader/Chewbacca from Star Wars) 9. see #6. 10. Does Mountain Dew or Vault (caffiene) count? 11. Blech. 12. Nope. But I'm not constantly happy either. 13. OUCH! No. I'm no masochist, tyvm. 14. Never. In my house, if you compained that you were bored, you did chores. 15. Nope. If I don't get 6-7 hours of sleep a night, I'm not a happy camper. If I get too much sleep, I need to reset my internal clock. If I get too little, I take a nap when I can. 16. Only on nights when I go out & socialize. 17. I need light to read. :rolleyes: 18. I get enough privacy. 19. Yes, so I can READ. 20. see #19. I only meditate when I have too. So far, no 'spirits' have decided to contact me. 21. I didn't go out socially for a long time. I was lucky enough to get into a gaming group & we did other activities other than gaming (I use to LOVE karaoke). 22. Only when said authority figure disrespects ME. 23. Never did. 24. Not really. Only with good reason 25. Yes, it's Count CHOCULA. I liked Boo-Berry myself, but it's been ages. 26. EWWW. If that's your bag, then enjoy. I prefer my drinks sweet. 27. ROFLMAO! Does Mythbusters count? 28. Nah, I prefer pen & paper. 29. I'd say something slightly dirty, but I'll just say No Comment. 30. ONLY if it's a good beat. 31. ROFLMAO! I couldn't dance, much less provocatively, even if I tried. Sheesh. 32.*eyebrow* What? 33. That's a little personal. 34. Not that it's ANY of your problem, but I'm straight; that doesn't mean that I'm biased against anyone's orientation. See also #33. 35. I respect ALL religeons, even if that respect isn't returned. 36. Does a "This *IS* my costume." button count? Also see #4 37. Never did. Like I used to say in some of my sigs, "I know I'm going to hell; I'm brinign marshmellows." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) |

This is of questionable relevance to SR, or gaming in general. It also seems at high risk for becoming a "Lets bash the Catholic Church" thread. I'm going to move this to General Gaming for now. And we will be watching very carefully.
As a reminder to all: QUOTE 1. Personal attacks, flaming, trolling, and baiting are prohibited. This includes any form of racism, sexism or religious intolerance.

I still refuse to believe this is for real, though. This is batshit even by the standards of American Christians. No...Definately not. This is actually a bit tame for the right wingers. Some of who protest funerals of homosexuals that have died weilding signs that read 'You see, we told you God hates Gays' I could go on for days about what they do here but the moderator is right. It may be construed as bashing. And I would never bash some one for their right of free speech. I fought for my country to uphold those tenets. And I'll stand up for your right. |

The "right wingers" you are referring to are Fred Phelps and his followers, the Westboro Baptist Church. I wouldn't say they exemplify mainstream Christians or conservatives. I would also argue that one's right to free speech does not entitle you to disrupt private funerals, or sue the parents of the deceased, but thats the topic of another debate all together. |

Which music is anti-social? This one, maybe? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ljgzwZbxN0...feature=related Ha ha, I really enjoyed that, but I can't understand the French. I can understand the French in the comments section but no the sung French. That's always harder. Of course, the Vampire PC game standby would be more topical to DSF, I guess: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-PEoU0FjzE |
