If Your Child is a Gothic, Reform Through the Lord!

Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your child may have gone astray from the Lord. Gothic (or goth) is a very obscure and often dangerous culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in.
The gothic culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through counselling, prayer, and parental guidance to rid your child of Satan's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child:

1. Frequently wears black clothing.
2. Wears band and/or rock t-shirts.
3. Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish.
4. Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include: reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various other Satanic worshipping symbols.
5. Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
6. Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
7. Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically.
8. Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports.
9. Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
10. Takes drugs.
11. Drinks alcohol.
12. Is suicidal and/or depressed.
13. Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
14. Complains of boredom.
15. Sleeps too excessively or too little.
16. Is excessively awake during the night.
17. Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.)
18. Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
19. Spends large amounts of time alone.
20. Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil sprits through meditation.)
21. Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
22. Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this.
23. Misbehaves at school.
24. Misbehaves at home.
25. Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this.
26. Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
27. Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.)
28. Plays videos games that contains violence or are of a role-playing nature.
29. Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer.
30. Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music.
31. Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner.
32. Expresses an interest in sex.
33. Masturbates
34. Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
36. Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth".
37. Claims to be a goth.

If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center.

Unfortunately, this is real...I remember something like this years ago. But to call themselves catholic. Even Catholism recognizes Buddhism as just a philosophy and completely accepts that there are Buddhist Catholics. Heck there is even Shinto Catholics in Japan that they accept. But the Japanese speak Eccentrically so your kid may Goth.

But look at this:
Catholic Priest

They wear Black
They Speak Eccentrically (Mass in Latin)
They spend time meditating
Read literature related to satan (The Bible)
Express desire to drink actual blood
Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically.

I remember something like this years ago. But to call themselves catholic.

The Church is quite good in adapting to the locales. While in more tolerant countries they are less dogmatic, in America, it seems, that kind of Jack Chick theology resounds well with many Christians. It's the country where Revelations is the most popular book in the bible after all.

I still refuse to believe this is for real, though. This is batshit even by the standards of American Christians.

I read through this, and had to laugh. And I'm going to answer the points;

1. Yes, but I also wear light colored clothing (mostly light tans) in the summer.
2. Rarely. All my old rock t-shirts are gone the way of rags, and I only have maybe two band shirts left, and those bands are long since defunct.
3. I can't wear make-up, because I break out. I never liked lipstick, cause it statesdisgusting. I have work nailpolish, but only on Halloween.
4. No, except I have a V:tM Ankh pin that took me a long time to track down, & I'm keeping that as a reminder of my Black Swan nights. I infrequently pin a silver bat pin (from LeBarBat in NYC, also long since closed) or a Smiley the Psychotic Button.
5. Ouch. No thanks. I did have my left ear-tab pierced once, but it got infected & I had to let it heal.
6. Nah. Too morose for my liking.
7. Gee, ya THINK? They are the ones that make life FUN.
8. The last time there was a connection between comic books & religeon I was involved in was a comic-book show that was held in a church basement. It was a waste of time & train fare, but I did get to see Dave Prowse (Darth Vader/Chewbacca from Star Wars)
9. see #6.
10. Does Mountain Dew or Vault (caffiene) count?
11. Blech.
12. Nope. But I'm not constantly happy either.
13. OUCH! No. I'm no masochist, tyvm.
14. Never. In my house, if you compained that you were bored, you did chores.
15. Nope. If I don't get 6-7 hours of sleep a night, I'm not a happy camper. If I get too much sleep, I need to reset my internal clock. If I get too little, I take a nap when I can.
16. Only on nights when I go out & socialize.
17. I need light to read.
18. I get enough privacy.
19. Yes, so I can READ.
20. see #19. I only meditate when I have too. So far, no 'spirits' have decided to contact me.
21. I didn't go out socially for a long time. I was lucky enough to get into a gaming group & we did other activities other than gaming (I use to LOVE karaoke).
22. Only when said authority figure disrespects ME.
23. Never did.
24. Not really. Only with good reason
25. Yes, it's Count CHOCULA. I liked Boo-Berry myself, but it's been ages.
26. EWWW. If that's your bag, then enjoy. I prefer my drinks sweet.
27. ROFLMAO! Does Mythbusters count?
28. Nah, I prefer pen & paper.
29. I'd say something slightly dirty, but I'll just say No Comment.
30. ONLY if it's a good beat.
31. ROFLMAO! I couldn't dance, much less provocatively, even if I tried. Sheesh.
32.*eyebrow* What?
33. That's a little personal.
34. Not that it's ANY of your problem, but I'm straight; that doesn't mean that I'm biased against anyone's orientation. See also #33.
35. I respect ALL religeons, even if that respect isn't returned.
36. Does a "This *IS* my costume." button count? Also see #4
37. Never did.

Like I used to say in some of my sigs, "I know I'm going to hell; I'm brinign marshmellows." grinbig.gif

The "right wingers" you are referring to are Fred Phelps and his followers, the Westboro Baptist Church. I wouldn't say they exemplify mainstream Christians or conservatives. I would also argue that one's right to free speech does not entitle you to disrupt private funerals, or sue the parents of the deceased, but thats the topic of another debate all together.

The scary thing is that most of the time when a church releases a list like this, they recommend anyone who shows these traits be referred to "mental health specialists" (who just so happen to be quite proficient at brainwashing impressionable minds), knowing full well that most of the things they are describing are normal parts of growing up.

I did a quick search for this. The only hits I could find are on other role-playing/punk/goth/teen forums. Never any links or any copy on any site which isn't reposting it because it's funny. One guy says it's from Colorado Springs, but there's no "St. Mary's Church" in Colorado Springs, just a cathedral (which is different).

I'm calling bunk on it. The RCC has never taken a stance that things like cable television are "corrupted media", or has spoken out against Count Chokula (nor has it spoken out specifically against Buddhism). No one can provide a link or verifiable location - just THE most common name for a Catholic Church anywhere.

Actually, recently dismissed Bishop Walter Mixa applies. He beat orphans in a catholic orphanage senseless because "20 years ago that was the norm" (no, it wasn't the norm in the 90s), allegedly raped an altar boy, and stole high five digit sums of money from said orphanage to buy stuff for his villa. I also like to imagine him patroling the mass in the orphanage with a paddle and locking up anyone who asks for second servings in the coal cellar, but that's pure speculation. He also blamed the recent surge of child abuse everyone seems so surprised by on the civil rights movement, which is pretty interesting since most these cases happened in the 50s and 60s, long before anyone would have taken to the streets wearing hideous clothes.

I meant personally. And this says more about him as a person than it does about the church. What people are constantly forgetting when they quote things about catholic priests is that there are a whole bunch of them who are -exactly- what they are supposed to be, and the percentage of bad ones is the same as it is in any other abusable position of authority.

Agreed, but the cover ups about the bad ones are institutional (Mixa's by far not the only bishop complicit in cover-ups there; among the others facing criminal charges is the current head of the National Conference of Bishops), and that does apply to the church as an organisation, despite the majority of priests probably being more or less decent people.

And that doesn't take Church policy into account, which far too often puts dogma and cover-up before preventing harm. No offense to you as a person, but the organisation that is the Church is in dire need of a thorough reform and a lot of housekeeping and correcting course. Worldwide.

I won't start bashing people but I did want to say that this gave made me laugh. And not to argue with them Moderators, but I'd say this is at least somewhat related to Shadowrun since the much of the culture in the 6th world seems to fall into some of those categories....

I'm going to have to share this post with my friends, I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it as well. Good Show!

5. Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
7. Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically.
9. Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
12. Is suicidal and/or depressed.
13. Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
26. Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.

By St. Mary's Catholic Church's standards, Jesus was a goth. He showed an interest in the occult by way of trying to tell others how to debunk/politically combat them; talked out against the Pharasees (the teachers and priests of the time - there were 3 groups and he talked out about all 3); he was almost always found in the presence of liars, cheaters, adulterers, and other, less than savory peoples; he encouraged others to drink wine as if it were his blood (this was actually symbolic, but some believe it was actually blood. That's a ridiculous theory though.); and he willingly and knowingly went to the cross for everyone, meaning he knew and expected to be pierced.

Jesus is a little over 2x goth, fulfilling 11 of that list.

I have words to say about the Catholic church, which are simply facts, but under the "religious persecution" bit may be misconstrued (spelling?). It's annoying when stating facts makes people think you're bashing things. I run into that a lot.

It is well written and quite funny. It just bothers me when it's presented in such a way that it might make an innocent party look bad. I would have enjoyed it better if it weren't attributed to any particular group or denomination.

I agree that attributing it to a particular group is a bit like Slander and really shouldn't be a part of it, but the silliness comes a bit from that it is supposed to be a Catholic view on the subject.

Personally, I think just the mention of God, unholy stuff etc. etc. in the actual content is good enough to portray it as coming from some "loony religious group" so the copyright of St. Mary's really wasn't necessary.

Still, if you can't laugh at yourself then you're going to have some problems later on.

And like I said, even though I know there are people who actually believe this crap, I'm thankful to whatever higher entity is listening that they are so very much a minority

Catholics seeing youth culture as impending doom, some other spin-off of Ben Joseph's Fishing Club seeing youth culture as impending doom, the People's Front of Judea, the Judean People's Front, the nth rebirth of some teacher, hysteric parents, campaigning politicians...

Nah, it's always the same story, just look at the moral panic surrounding RPGs wink.gif
Mr. Mage
SO what you're saying, Sengir, is that I can freak people out by telling them "I am the future generation, fear me!"

all that power in my hands, MWHAHAHAHA!!!
