Oh...No...It is a right to say what the heck that you want. Not that it was smart to say it in the first place. Remember Whether it is you right or not. Real Life Actions incur Real Life Consequences. Never said it was smart. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

I wonder if the realize that most of that list is just part of growing up. The scary thing is that most of the time when a church releases a list like this, they recommend anyone who shows these traits be referred to "mental health specialists" (who just so happen to be quite proficient at brainwashing impressionable minds), knowing full well that most of the things they are describing are normal parts of growing up. |

QUOTE 35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism. Yeh, no mention of the Sith Order. Guess I'm safe. Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. Ha ha, I really enjoyed that, but I can't understand the French. I can understand the French in the comments section but no the sung French. That's always harder. They have also made an English version. I found it here, but you might have to register to listen. http://www.deezer.com/fr/#music/trust/repr...anglaise-256631 Or the cover by Anthrax : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t0affoV5rI QUOTE Of course, the Vampire PC game standby would be more topical to DSF, I guess: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-PEoU0FjzE Should give another chance to that game. Last time, the load times bored me to death. |

I did a quick search for this. The only hits I could find are on other role-playing/punk/goth/teen forums. Never any links or any copy on any site which isn't reposting it because it's funny. One guy says it's from Colorado Springs, but there's no "St. Mary's Church" in Colorado Springs, just a cathedral (which is different).
I'm calling bunk on it. The RCC has never taken a stance that things like cable television are "corrupted media", or has spoken out against Count Chokula (nor has it spoken out specifically against Buddhism). No one can provide a link or verifiable location - just THE most common name for a Catholic Church anywhere. |

QUOTE I honestly don't know any catholics this stupid. Actually, recently dismissed Bishop Walter Mixa applies. He beat orphans in a catholic orphanage senseless because "20 years ago that was the norm" (no, it wasn't the norm in the 90s), allegedly raped an altar boy, and stole high five digit sums of money from said orphanage to buy stuff for his villa. I also like to imagine him patroling the mass in the orphanage with a paddle and locking up anyone who asks for second servings in the coal cellar, but that's pure speculation. He also blamed the recent surge of child abuse everyone seems so surprised by on the civil rights movement, which is pretty interesting since most these cases happened in the 50s and 60s, long before anyone would have taken to the streets wearing hideous clothes. QUOTE The "right wingers" you are referring to are Fred Phelps and his followers, the Westboro Baptist Church. I wouldn't say they exemplify mainstream Christians or conservatives. I would also argue that one's right to free speech does not entitle you to disrupt private funerals, or sue the parents of the deceased, but thats the topic of another debate all together. Are those the sam who blow up people displeasing the christian god? QUOTE I'm calling bunk on it. I was thinking along these lines too, but I see whenever I go to mPoland how different a local culture makes the way the church speaks. |

Should give another chance to that game. Last time, the load times bored me to death. Well you can get it off Steam nowadays and on a modern computer the load times shouldn't be too bad. Uh, I tried to apply a mod and it seemed to break some of the scripted scenes, though, so at that point I uninstalled it, even though I still think it deserves another play through on my part. |

I meant personally. And this says more about him as a person than it does about the church. What people are constantly forgetting when they quote things about catholic priests is that there are a whole bunch of them who are -exactly- what they are supposed to be, and the percentage of bad ones is the same as it is in any other abusable position of authority. |

QUOTE Loren Coleman only did the last one. What. CGL actually was acompany indenturing orphans to do their work? QUOTE What people are constantly forgetting when they quote things about catholic priests is that there are a whole bunch of them who are -exactly- what they are supposed to be, and the percentage of bad ones is the same as it is in any other abusable position of authority. Agreed, but the cover ups about the bad ones are institutional (Mixa's by far not the only bishop complicit in cover-ups there; among the others facing criminal charges is the current head of the National Conference of Bishops), and that does apply to the church as an organisation, despite the majority of priests probably being more or less decent people. And that doesn't take Church policy into account, which far too often puts dogma and cover-up before preventing harm. No offense to you as a person, but the organisation that is the Church is in dire need of a thorough reform and a lot of housekeeping and correcting course. Worldwide. QUOTE I believe the aim was to print it to be actuality semi believable. As we can see it works. Probably. It seems Scientology isn't a satisfying target anymore. |

Hahah. Oh wow. When was this written? So... If you drink alcohol, are interested in sex, jerk off, watch TV, and commit one other tiny little sin like using the computer or playing the x-box - you're a satan loving goth. Contrats. You just described every teenage man across america. No wonder so many people I know who went to catholic school grew up to be athiest. Well. The list is clearly full of crap, and I don't agree with it, soo.... Why not have some fun with it? Let the dumpshockers fill it out, a joke poll kind of thing. Let's see which one of us is the most wicked inside. (according St Mary's church) Every Teenage man in America? How about we add most men in general? hehe The amount of people replying to this who think this is a real thing frankly scares me. If I showed this to my Aunt (though she is Baptist, not Catholic) she would agree with most of this stuff. In fact, most of my relatives on my Mother's side are convinced my father and I are on the road to hell....so they thy to "save" us every time we visit....which is most of the reason why I stopped going to Florida....that and it's hot down there! (FLorida, not Hell...though Hell might be hot too I suppose...) So while this may not be a real PSA posted by the Catholics, I'm sure there are people out there who actually feel this way....Thank God or whoever you worship that they are not the majority I did a quick search for this. The only hits I could find are on other role-playing/punk/goth/teen forums. Never any links or any copy on any site which isn't reposting it because it's funny. No one can provide a link or verifiable location - just THE most common name for a Catholic Church anywhere. There is a St. Mary's in the UK, but I think it may be a University so it probably isn't that either.... but we may not be able to find the source of this propaganda on the Internet since apparently the Internet is made of EVIL! OH NO! I won't start bashing people but I did want to say that this gave made me laugh. And not to argue with them Moderators, but I'd say this is at least somewhat related to Shadowrun since the much of the culture in the 6th world seems to fall into some of those categories.... I'm going to have to share this post with my friends, I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it as well. Good Show! |

QUOTE 5. Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos. 7. Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically. 9. Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan. 12. Is suicidal and/or depressed. 13. Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.) 19. Spends large amounts of time alone. 20. Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil sprits through meditation.) 21. Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult. 22. Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this. 26. Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.) 35. Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism. By St. Mary's Catholic Church's standards, Jesus was a goth. He showed an interest in the occult by way of trying to tell others how to debunk/politically combat them; talked out against the Pharasees (the teachers and priests of the time - there were 3 groups and he talked out about all 3); he was almost always found in the presence of liars, cheaters, adulterers, and other, less than savory peoples; he encouraged others to drink wine as if it were his blood (this was actually symbolic, but some believe it was actually blood. That's a ridiculous theory though.); and he willingly and knowingly went to the cross for everyone, meaning he knew and expected to be pierced. Jesus is a little over 2x goth, fulfilling 11 of that list. I have words to say about the Catholic church, which are simply facts, but under the "religious persecution" bit may be misconstrued (spelling?). It's annoying when stating facts makes people think you're bashing things. I run into that a lot. |

I would have enjoyed it better if it weren't attributed to any particular group or denomination. I agree that attributing it to a particular group is a bit like Slander and really shouldn't be a part of it, but the silliness comes a bit from that it is supposed to be a Catholic view on the subject. Personally, I think just the mention of God, unholy stuff etc. etc. in the actual content is good enough to portray it as coming from some "loony religious group" so the copyright of St. Mary's really wasn't necessary. Still, if you can't laugh at yourself then you're going to have some problems later on. And like I said, even though I know there are people who actually believe this crap, I'm thankful to whatever higher entity is listening that they are so very much a minority |

Catholics seeing youth culture as impending doom, some other spin-off of Ben Joseph's Fishing Club seeing youth culture as impending doom, the People's Front of Judea, the Judean People's Front, the nth rebirth of some teacher, hysteric parents, campaigning politicians... Nah, it's always the same story, just look at the moral panic surrounding RPGs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
