Running the Coast, is an online, voice/open rpg, campaign located in the Gulf Coast region of the CAS. The game thread is located here. This game is set to run bi-weekly, on Friday, starting at 8:00 PM, est.
This is the recruitment thread for that game, post here if you have an interest in playing.
Character creation will also be addressed in this thread.

  • I provide the following guidelines for rules, to help progress the game, and to complement the setting. If you disagree with any of them, I am open to reasonable discussion. This is a game for the enjoyment of all. You get to play in the setting, and "live" within it, through the character, that you inhabit, and it's important to me that mine is not the only vision considered here. I just have to console myself with the pernicious, crushing of all your hopes and dreams.
  • Standard 400 point BP build.
  • No Technomancers.
  • Meta-variants allowed on case by case basis.
  • Free bonus points for contacts, equals 2*Cha. No groups as contacts for beginning characters.
  • Standard lifestyle rules. (I recommend buying three months of lifestyle up front, but not required. I will most likely expand on lifestyles in the future, as I detail the area more, but I don't want it to delay the start.)
  • You may purchase one item that exceeds availability 12.
  • A note on licensing: Remember that as Shadowrunners, most of the activities that you will be engaging in are, in and of themselves illegal. Licenses, are useful in avoiding legal harassment on a day to day basis, but any failure of a forged license or SIN carries it's own repercussions. You may choose to forego licensing entirely, as many off the grid do, and accept the consequences.
  • Purchase of licenses (not SINs) during creation, cost rating * 25 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) (replaces the cost listed in the rule book, does not affect availability). Any restricted items require licensing to be "legal". Any armor with a ballistics rating greater than 4, is automatically restricted. Each piece of restricted gear requires it's own specific license, tied to an identity (SIN). Individual hacking programs do not have to be licensed, but the commlink does, at the appropriate rating to run the restricted program.
  • Starting funds are in CAS dollars, cash. Calculate starting cash as (Max possible*70%)*3=$ (example, Trogg has 300 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) remaining after buying gear, so He calculates 2d6+3*20=300 max for his squatter lifestyle. (300*0.7)*3=630$ in small, non-sequential CAS bills.)
  • Everyone gets a free contact of a fixer, "Mr. Jack" at Loyalty 1 and Connection unknown. All other contacts are subject to approval.

Currently we have five players, locked up for the game, applications will be reserved if any spots open up, on a first come, first served basis.

Cast of Characters;

Dantic - GM
Emod - Wizkid with a gun. - Human
Phlapjack - Mystic Rocker in the tradition of Zamfir. - Elf lord

I'd like to indicate my interest in playing - would like to try out a dwarven samurai/weapon specialist. If this would be a fit, I'd be happy to work a character up over the weekend for review.

Could you confirm the target starting date?

Do you have room for one more? I rarely get to play SR and have been wanting to try an online game. Fridays are good for me.

<edit> I can do any type of character the group may need.

I don't require any particular skill sets from the players. We have five on board at the moment, which is the max I am looking for right now. We are going to have a session coming up in another week, check back after, and I'll let you know then, if I think, I can fit another player in. As it sits now, you would be first up if anyone drops out, or I add one.

From your email I believe we're also using different licensing rules
QUOTE
Licenses cost 25% of normal cost, but each restricted weapon requires it's own license, as does any armor with a balistic rating greater than 2

Does this include fake licenses attached to fake SINS or only legit licenses?

If you want to have a fan club contact, work it up, and sell it, I might buy, if you make it good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rotate.gif)

Fan Club: KAF

Started by one Juan Carlos, a free-lance blogger. Was covering the local happenings beat, interviewed me after one of my shows. Liked the music so much, he
decided to start the fan club.

Loyalty: 4
Connection:1
20-99 Members: 2
Limited network presence: 1
Very limited magic: 1

Hopefully "sold" in the writeup on the official game thread.

Also I'd like to have a new spell, the Mist / Shadow spells don't quite have the flavor I was hoping for. Alot of the thoughts behind it come from this thread: http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?show...31834&st=25

Fog: Manipulation
Type: P • Range: LOS (A) • Duration: S • DV: (F ÷ 2) + 1

Fog creates an obscuring veil of...fog...in the area of effect. The net hits of the spell will impose a negative visibility modifier to anyone in the area (max -6). Vision enhancements (such as thermo and low-light) cut the penalty in half. The area of effect is Force radius in meters.

The spell has to be sustained to reach full effect. When first cast, the spell will impose no visibility modifier. Each successive Combat Turn that the mage sustains the spell, the spell grows in strength, imposing a further -1 visibility modifer, up to the net-hits-worth of modifiers. So the first turn that the mage sustains it, a -1 is imposed, etc...

The spell's area of effect cannot be moved, unlike other sustained spells. When the mage stops sustaining the spell, the fog will slowly dissipate, reducing the vision modifier by 1 per Combat Turn.

Hey Dantic,

Replied to you on another thread, but would like to chime in here as well.

If a spot opens up, I'd like to run with you guys. Open to playing whatever the group needs. If there are no particular needs, perhaps a combat hacker.

Heyla

I thought I would drop in and send a greeting, a tentative signal of interest and... an offer. The main reason the 'Coast caught my eye at this point (I am slowly getting back into roleplaying) is because... well... I live here, specifically about 2 hours away from Mobile (the Northshore, Louisiana, to be specific). -g- If you can think of some locales that my little digital camera and I might visit for a little added display, feel free to drop a Private Message (well, once I get a few more posts in) or an email. I will likely wander that way in a few days just to wander around now that the idea caught my attention, anyway. -laugh-
