So I'm starting to make some actual money with nuyen with my technomancer in my play by post game. And I'm wondering very seriously what to do with money now because I've gotten a lot of what I want with just 4 BP originally spent on everything I need materially. I don't have to buy new programs like a hacker, I don't do rigging (I wanted to do a pure hacker style TM), I've already got a decent ride and a very good gun. And I figure I can spoof some lifestyles to save extra cred. I've thought about spending money to develop some contacts but I figure that will only go so far.

What do you do with a character who is so light on things to buy but has tons of money?

Your gun can always be gooder and your ride decenter. Armor, drugs, toxins. Tons of sensors and sensor softs. Agents. Lifestyle.

Start a business. It adds for good cover for a fake SIN. Who will arrest the CEO of the Stand o' Noodles chain seen walking around Seattle?

There's also the more extreme option of certain specific cyber/bio/nano/gene-ware, but obviously that's a huge deal for a Resonance character.

I think I already covered this. You either do what every good rich magician does. Models. Or, if your biggest problem is that your bankroll is increasing faster than you can snort novacoke off the dietware enhanced asses of high priced escorts, then you can always donate it to your team's rigger or samurai.

My advice is to just save it. That money may come in handy if something should happen and you need cash fast or need to get out of town fast. If there are any local gangs try getting in nice with them by buying them some gear as a show of friendship and see if you can work them into a group contact.

Why is your character running the shadows if he has no need or want of money?

Disregarding that for the moment, buy a 2nd ID. Buy a Ford-canada Buffalo RV and stash it in the woods. Get a drone plane like the Kull for smuggling. If your guy's thing is going to be access, there are ways that he can provide access that extend beyond hacking a maglock.

Buy a 2nd ID.

This. You can never have too many SINs.

And you can always see if your GM is willing to institute a Cash for Karma system. The 2500 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) : 1 Karma ratio in the books is probably a bit cheap, but if you suggest something like 20k:1, he just might go for it.

And you know, anyone can summon Sleazy, he is a free spirit after all.

Burn it on escorts..., I mean lifestyles.

Alternatively you can invest it in your team's capabilities pooling resources etc.

I recomend a mix of

Buying up some stuff for the team - They do well you do well
Expanding your character outwards - Sensors and software for it can get pricy but is fun, you might not need programs but that doesnt mean you cant use sprites / agents to run some stuff for you.

Save up to buy a luxury lifestyle and retire? I mean, shouldn't that be many character's real goals? To retire eventually?

Buy an expensive car and expensive clothes, spend half your money to celebrate your successful run and live in a luxury lifestyle for as long as you can afford it.
Actually that's why every Shadowrunner should be doing even those who need money for gear.

Save most of it for a rainy day, but spend just enough on conspicuous consumption (hos) that people don't notice that you're saving up. Then someday, you just put out a 5million contract on the head of someone you have issues with. Or you suddenly buy a stealth helicopter when your team needs to escape.

The important part is keeping quiet you have those piles of money. Suddenly whip it out, surprising everyone.

I think the rest of the context made it better.

What's the difference? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif)

Do what any person with lots of money does. Spend it on shit*.

* Shit is defined as anything that has no use to you but makes others covet that item. Examples would include Kathy Griffin's nose, a gold coated umbrella stand, or a 20 cubic foot flea circus.

Start programs for your local area, or, better yet, the area where you have a safehouse.

Having an entire neighborhood that has your back because you're making the buildings livable, the essentials come in on time, the food better, the kids some education of a sort... Really, money can't buy that kind of support.

Another option is the ShadowSkool, which is the same thing, but also brings in the support of Shadowrunners and Fixers and other denizens of the Shadows.

In addition, if the character isn't 'Running for the money, why is he/she/it? Everyone has a reason to be in the Shadows, not just because "It's fun." (OK, some are like this. But they're a minority.). That should also tell you how they would spend the money.
